California's 33rd congressional district covers part of Los Angeles County, notably part of Los Angeles, Culver City and Baldwin Hills and is currently represented by Democrat Diane Watson. It is among the safest districts for the Democratic Party in the country.

This is one of the most heavily Democratic districts in America; John Kerry received 83% of the vote in this district in 2004; George W. Bush received 16%.[1] The district voted for Phil Angelides 69-26% in 2006,[2] Dianne Feinstein 84-11% in 2006,[3] Barbara Boxer 84-12% in 2004,[4] keeping Gray Davis 74-26%[5] and Cruz Bustamante 57-24.5%[6] in 2003, and Davis 75-15% in 2002.[7]
