Gail Lightfoot is a retired nurse and the 2006 Libertarian candidate for California Secretary of State. Lightfoot finished 4th with 150,492 votes for 2.1% of the total vote. In 2004 Lightfoot was a California Libertarian candidate for the United States Senate. Lightfoot's 2004 campaign came to a quick end when she failed to win the Libertarian nomination, which was won by James P. Gray. In 1996 Lightfoot ran for congress in California's 23rd congressional district, she finished 3rd with 8,346 votes for 4.18% of the total vote [1]. She is currently Chair of the San Luis Obispo LP CCC and the Producer - Host of Why Liberty Matters on SLO public access Charter Cable Channel 2 in San Luis Obispo County. She has three grown children and six grandchildren. She has been married three times, currently to Richard Venable. They live in Arroyo Grande, on California's Central Coast.
She also ran unsuccessfully for vice-president at the 2008 Libertarian National Convention, garnering only 2.5% of the total vote.
