Nigeriabrev

Nigeriabrev er navnet på et utbredt forsøk på svindel gjennom E-mail og Internett.
Det «klassiske» Nigeriabrev skriver seg fra 1970-tallet som ble sendt enten i form av et vanlig brev, telex eller telefax. Mottakers navn hadde avsender vanligvis hentet fra en alminnelig bedriftskatalog. Avsender utga seg for å være en høyt betrodd Nigeriansk statstjenestemann som hadde klart å tilegne store pengebeløp på ulovlig vis, og som bad om assistanse for å få disse omsatt i vestlig valuta. Oftest skulle mottaker få halvparten av beløpet mot å samarbeide ved å stille sin bank-konto til disposisjon.
De mest åpenbare svindelforsøk gikk ut på at mottakeren skulle oppgi sin bankkonto og sende sitt firmas brevpapir, kun med en underskrift.

I dag kommer Nigeriabrev som e-mail med de mest fantasifulle tilbud. Ett av disse er fra noe som kaller seg et spansk E-mail-lotteri. Hovedbudskapet er at mottaker har vunnet et stort beløp, intet mindre enn nesten 800 000,00 €uro og må ta kontakt og blir så bedt om å oppgi sin bank og sitt kontonummer, som umiddelbart blir tappet.
Tross gjentatte advarsler i aviser kan en fra tid til annen lese om en eller annen som har latt seg lure.
