[edit] Career

Sid Eudy entered the wrestling industry after an encounter with Randy Savage and his brother Lanny Poffo. Eudy was trained by Tojo Yamamoto. In his debut match, Eudy teamed with Austin Idol and wrestled the team of Nick Bockwinkel and Jerry Lawler. Most of his early career was spent as the masked wrestler known as Lord Humongous.[1] He competed mainly on the Memphis, Tennessee, and Georgia wrestling circuits where he captured several regional titles. He also competed in New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he challenged Tatsumi Fujinami for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship under the name Vicious Warrior, but failed. A very brief stint in WCCW saw him wrestle as Sid Vicious, taking his name from the punk rock musician, who played bass for the Sex Pistols.[1]

[edit] World Championship Wrestling (1989-1991)

In 1989,[1] Eudy signed with WCW and wrestled as Sid Vicious. Originally slated as a singles wrestler, Eudy was paired with Danny Spivey to form The Skyscrapers.[1] Managed by Teddy Long, The Skyscrapers feuded with the Steiner Brothers and the Road Warriors. During this time, he incorporated the Power bomb as his finishing move, popularizing it with audiences in North America. The team was short-lived; Eudy was replaced by Mean Mark Callous after suffering a broken rib and a punctured lung. Following his recovery, Eudy returned as a member of Ric Flair's Four Horsemen,[1] and he was billed by the ring announcers as being from "wherever he darn well pleases". As one of the Horsemen, Eudy feuded with Paul Orndorff and The Junkyard Dog. He unsuccessfully battled NWA World Champion Sting for the title with his biggest chance coming at 1990 Halloween Havoc, where a fake Sting (Barry Windham) in collusion with Sid, let Sid pin him in a "switcheroo" in order for Sid to win the belt. They were thwarted when the real Sting came out and beat Sid. Despite being offered a multi-year, guaranteed contract and the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, Eudy left the company for the World Wrestling Federation.

[edit] World Wrestling Federation (1991-1992)

Sid made his WWF debut in July of 1991 under the name, Sid Justice. He started out as a fan-favorite. At Summer Slam on August 26th, Sid appeared as the special guest referee for the 3 on 2 handicap match where Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior teamed up to take on The Triangle Of Terror (Sergeant Slaughter, Colonel Mustafa, and General Adnan). Warrior chased Mustafa and Adnan backstage with a steel chair. Hogan threw powder in Slaughter’s face, body-slammed him, hit the Atomic Leg Drop, and pinned Slaughter to win the match while Sid made the 3 count. After the match, Hogan and Sid celebrated in the ring together. Later that night, Sid saved The Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth from an attack at the hands of The Undertaker and Jake the snake Roberts. At the 1992 Royal Rumble on January 19th, Sid entered the ring at number 29 in the actual Royal Rumble match, in which the winner would become the WWF Champion. The last four participants left in the ring were Sid Justice, Ric Flair, The Macho Man Randy Savage, and Hulk Hogan. Sid eliminated Savage and it came down to Sid, Flair, and Hogan. Sid eliminated Hogan while Hogan was stomping Flair. The last two men left in the ring were Flair and Sid. Hogan, who was still at ringside after being eliminated, grabbed Sid’s arm and distracted him long enough for Flair to eliminate Sid, win the Royal Rumble, and become the new WWF Champion. After the match, Hogan and Sid got into a fight in the ring and had to be separated by security. This incident temporarily turned Sid into a rule breaker. On the 1/25/92 episode of WWF Superstars Of Wrestling, WWF Commissioner Jack Tunney held a press conference to choose the number one contender for Ric Flair’s WWF Championship at Wrestlemania 8 with the choices, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Sid Justice, The Undertaker, The Macho Man Randy Savage, and Hulk Hogan all in attendance. Before Tunney even announced who the number one contender would be, Sid stood up as if Tunney called his name, but to Sid’s annoyance, Tunney chose Hogan. After the press conference, Sid referred to it as “the most bogus act Jack Tunney has ever pulled off”. Sid later issued an apology to Hogan, which Hogan forgivingly accepted. On the 2/8/92 episode of Saturday Day Night’s Main Event, Hogan and Sid teamed up to face The Undertaker and Ric Flair. During the match, Hogan hit a double-clothesline on Undertaker and Flair. He crawled over to Sid to make the tag, but Sid refused to tag in. Instead, Sid walked out of the match and left Hogan by himself to face Undertaker and Flair. This more than anything solidified Sid’s status as a rule-breaker. Hogan amazingly won the match by pinning Flair with the Atomic Leg Drop. The next night on WWF Superstars Of Wrestling, Sid appeared as a guest on The Barber Shop where he attacked the host and a good friend of Hulk Hogan, Brutus the barber Beefcake. As a result of the attack, Beefcake had to be taken out of the arena on a stretcher. Hogan was not in the arena at the time of the attack. A week later, Sid hired Harvey Wippleman as his manager. At Wrestlemania 8 on April 5th, Sid went one-on-one with Hogan. Sid Powerbombed Hogan and went for the pin, but Hogan amazingly kicked out and fought back. Hogan body-slammed Sid, hit the Atomic Leg Drop, and went for the pin, Sid kicked out of the pin attempt then Papa Shango came to the ring and attacked Hogan, giving Hogan the victory by disqualification. Sid and Shango double-teamed Hogan until The Ultimate Warrior made his return and rescued Hogan, as he and Hogan cleared Sid, Shango, and Wippleman out of the ring. After the match, Hogan and Warrior celebrated in the ring together. This was Sid’s last appearance in the WWF until January of 1995.

[edit] World Championship Wrestling (1993)

After spending less than a year with the WWF, Eudy returned to WCW in 1993 and teamed with Vader to form the "Masters of the Power bomb". The two feuded with Sting and Davey Boy Smith.

Two months away from winning the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, after a show in Blackburn, Lancashire during a tour in the United Kingdom, Eudy was involved in a hotel bar scuffle with Arn Anderson. Anderson, Eudy, and various members of the WCW roster were sitting around a table and the discussion topic popped up about what was wrong with WCW and how could they go about improving the show. Sid being outspoken said maybe some of the old guys like Ric Flair should get out the way for the newer talent.

With that, Arn Anderson threw beer in his face and both men stormed to their hotel rooms. Somewhere in the corridor Arn broke a bottle and encouraged Sid to fight him. Sid went to his room to find a weapon and could only find a chair. Sid came back and knocked on Arn's door calling for the fight. Arn opened it and lunged at him with some scissors, cutting Sid's stomach. Sid pushed him to the floor, took the scissors, and began repeatedly stabbing Anderson.

Both were rushed to the hospital and survived the incident; Anderson suffered stab wounds to the face, chest, arms, stomach, and back. Sid was released from WCW after several wrestlers threatened to walk out because of him. Sid has apologized to Anderson for what happened and the two are now on speaking terms.

[edit] Back to Memphis (1994-1995)

Eudy spent 1994 at his hometown promotion, the United States Wrestling Association in Memphis, feuding with old rival Jerry Lawler. In mid-1994 he won the USWA Championship by forfeit when Lawler, who had been attacked and injured by Eudy earlier in the card, could not appear for the scheduled match. In the feud that followed, Lawler was able to defeat Eudy in non-title matches, but Eudy was able to save his belt in the title bouts through screwjobs (mainly from outside interference by his ally at the time, Spellbinder). In January 1995, Lawler was able to win the USWA championship back when Spellbinder's interference backfired.

[edit] World Wrestling Federation (1995-1997)

Sid returned to the WWF on the 1/23/95 episode of Monday Night Raw as Shawn Michaels’ bodyguard. This time, he used the name, Sycho Sid and was still a rule-breaker. At Wrestlemania 11 on April 2nd, Sid, along with Jennifer McCarthy, accompanied Michaels to ringside for his WWF Championship match against the champion and Michaels former friend, bodyguard, and tag team partner, Diesel. Michaels had the match won with the Sweet Chin Music, but Sid stood on the ring apron and distracted referee, Earl Hebner, allowing Diesel time to recover. Diesel pinned Michaels with the Powerbomb to win the match and retain the title. After the match, Diesel celebrated the victory with Nick Turturro, Pamela Anderson, Jennifer McCarthy, and Jonathan Taylor Thomas. The next night on Raw, Michaels politely told Sid that his services were no longer needed and that he would love for the two of them to remain friends. Sid shook Michaels’ hand, kicked him in the mid-section, and Powerbombed him 5 times. Diesel came to Michaels’ aid and clotheslined Sid over the top rope. This incident turned Michaels into a fan-favorite. A week later, The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase announced Sid as the newest member of the Million Dollar Corporation after Bam Bam Bigelow left the Corporation. On that same night, Sid challenged Diesel to a match for the WWF Championship to which Diesel accepted. The match took place at In Your House on May 14th. Diesel had Sid pinned with the Powerbomb after amazingly kicking out of Sid’s Powerbomb, but Tatanka came out and attacked Diesel. Sid and Tatanka double-teamed Diesel until Bam Bam Bigelow came to Diesel’s aid. Diesel and Bam Bam faced Sid and Tatanka in a tag team match at King Of The Ring on June 25th. Diesel and Bam Bam won when Diesel pinned Tatanka with the Powerbomb. Sid faced Diesel in a Lumberjack Match for the WWF Championship at Lumberjacks on July 23rd. Diesel pinned Sid with the Powerbomb to retain the title after kicking out of Sid’s Powerbomb. At Summer Slam on August 27th, Lex Luger, Sycho Sid, and The British Bulldog all interfered in Diesel’s WWF title defense against King Mabel when Diesel had Mabel pinned with the Powerbomb. Diesel amazingly kick out of a Running Powerslam from Bulldog, a Powerbomb from Sid, and a Flying Forearm from Luger, fought off Luger, Sid, and Bulldog, Powerbombed Mabel again, and pinned him to retain the title. The next night on Raw, Sid started a feud with Henry Godwinn. At Triple Header on September 24th, Sid faced Godwinn one-on-one. Sid pinned Godwinn with the Powerbomb to win the match. On the 11/13/95 episode of Monday Night Raw, Sid faced the Intercontinental Champion, Razor Ramon in a non-title match with Razor’s friend, The 1-2-3 Kid as the special guest referee. Razor was about hit the Razor’s Edge on Sid, but The 1-2-3 Kid pulled Sid out of the Razor’s Edge. Sid pinned Razor with the Powerbomb to win the match with 1-2-3 Kid making a fast count, betraying Razor, and joining The Million Dollar Corporation. 6 days later at Survivor Series, Marty Jannetty and The 1-2-3 Kid were the last two participants left on their respective teams. Jannetty had 1-2-3 Kid pinned, but The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase had the referee distracted, allowing Sid to come through the crowd and into the ring to Powerbomb Jannetty, which allowed 1-2-3 Kid to pin Jannetty, win the match, and become the sole survivor for his team. Later that night, the team of Razor Ramon, Yokozuna, Owen Hart, and Dean Douglas took on Shawn Michaels, Sycho Sid, The British Bulldog, and Ahmed Johnson. Sid held Razor for Michaels to hit the Sweet Chin Music, but Razor moved out of the way, causing Michaels to kick Sid in the chest and knock him out. Razor pinned Sid and eliminated him from the match. After his elimination, Sid Powerbombed Michaels. At Winter Combat on December 17th, Sid and The 1-2-3 Kid faced Razor Ramon and Marty Jannetty in a tag team match. Razor and Jannetty won when Razor pinned Sid with the Razor’s Edge after amazingly kicking out of Sid’s Powerbomb. This was Sid’s last appearance in the WWF until July of 1996. The main event of the International Incident was originally scheduled to be Camp Cornette (Vader, Owen Hart, and The British Bulldog) vs. The Ultimate Warrior, Shawn Michaels, and Ahmed Johnson, but Warrior left the WWF 3 days before the event and was replaced by Sycho Sid, who at this point and time was a fan-favorite. Michaels had Vader pinned with the Sweet Chin Music, but Jim Cornette had the referee distracted which allowed Owen Hart to jump off the top turnbuckle and hit Michaels in the back of the head with his arm-cast. Vader pulled Michaels to the corner, hit the Vader Bomb, and pinned Michaels to win the match for his team. The next night on Raw, Sid started a feud with The British Bulldog. Sid faced Bulldog one-on-one at Summer Slam on August 18th. Sid pinned Bulldog with the Powerbomb to win the match, despite interference from Owen Hart. At Mind Games on September 22nd, Shawn Michaels hit the Sweet Chin Music on Mankind and went for the pin to retain the WWF Championship, but Vader came out, broke up the count, attacked Michaels, and got Mankind disqualified. After the match, Mankind and Vader double-teamed Michaels until Sid came out to make the save. He and Vader fought their way backstage. This incident started a feud between him and Vader. Sid went one-on-one with Vader at Slamathon on October 20th in a match where the winner would face Shawn Michaels for the WWF Championship at Survivor Series on November 17th. Vader hit the Vader Bomb on Sid, but Sid amazingly kicked out and fought back. Sid was about to Powerbomb Vader, but Vader’s manager, Jim Cornette got on the ring apron. Shawn Michaels pulled Cornette off the apron and hit him with the Sweet Chin Music. Sid pinned Vader with the chokeslam to win the match and to become the number one contender for the WWF Championship. After the match, Sid celebrated his victory with Michaels. At Survivor Series, Michaels and Sid went one-on-one for the WWF Championship. During the match, Sid grabbed a camera from the cameraman and prepared to hit Michaels with it. Michaels’ manager, Jose Lothario got on the ring apron and told Sid to put the camera down, but Sid refused and hit Lothario in the chest with the camera. This instantly turned Sid into a rule-breaker although in MSG that night he was cheered wildy and Michaels was booed out of the building. Sid dropped the camera and as soon as he turned around, Michaels hit him with the Sweet Chin Music, and instead of going for the pin, Michaels went outside the ring to check on his manager. Sid hit Michaels in the back with the camera, threw him back in the ring, hit the Powerbomb, and pinned Michaels to become the WWF Champion. At It’s Time on December 15th, Sid defended the title against Bret the hitman Hart in a match where the winner would defend the title against Shawn Michaels at the 1997 Royal Rumble on January 19th. Hart made Sid tap out to the Sharpshooter, but the referee was knocked out. Shawn Michaels was commentating at ring side, Sid and Bret Hart left the ring and started fighting right beside Shawn Michaels. Sid pushed Michaels then climbed into the ring with Hart, Michaels went to hit Sid but Sid reversed Hart into him. Sid pinned Hart with the Powerbomb to retain the title. At the Royal Rumble, Sid defended the title against Michaels. During the match, Sid hit the Chokeslam on Michaels and he power bombed him on the mats outside the ring. Later on in the match, Jose Lothario got on the ring apron, Sid approached him, but before he could do anything to Lothario, Michaels hit Sid in the back and the face with the camera, knocking him out in the process. Michaels went for the pin, but Sid amazingly kicked out. Michaels pinned Sid with the Sweet Chin Music to become the WWF Champion for the second time. On the 2/17/97 episode of Monday Night Raw, Sid faced Bret the hitman Hart for the WWF Championship. Hart had Sid trapped in the Sharpshooter when Stone Cold Steve Austin came to the outside of the ring and hit Hart with a steel chair. Sid pinned Hart with the Powerbomb to win the WWF Championship for the second time. At Wrestlemania 13 on March 23rd, Sid defended the title against The Undertaker. During the match, both men amazingly kicked out of the other’s Chokeslam. Bret Hart interfered causing The Undertaker to Tombstone and pin Sid to become the WWF Champion for the second time. Sid didn't appear for around two months. However, he returned on the 5/12/97 episode of Monday Night Raw as a fan-favorite, he pinned Owen Hart on Raw and was to be the partner of The Legion Of Doom in their feud with The Hart Foundation. At King Of The Ring on June 8th, Sid and The Legion Of Doom faced The Hart Foundation (Owen Hart, The British Bulldog, and Jim the anvil Neidhart) in a Six-Man Tag Team Match. The Hart Foundation won when Owen pinned Sid with a roll-up. Sid made one more appearance, losing in a rematch against The Undertaker on Raw. This was Sid’s last appearance in the WWF.

[edit] The POB, Power Pro, and KAW in Memphis (1998-1999)

In October 1998, Sid came back to the local Memphis circuit when he began a three week run on Randy Hales' PowerPro Wrestling. Sid had created his own alliance (The Pride of Brotherhood or "POB) by recruiting and training local bodybuilders and powerlifters from the Memphis area for wrestling. They included Ken Giddens, Jeff Droke, Kevin Fertig (Kevin Thorn), Mike Ashmore, and Ron Reagan. In 1999, the POB moved to the Memphis federation, Kick Ass Wrestling, and spent time there until Sid returned to WCW. The POB continued on for in the Mid-South area for two more years before disbanding.

[edit] Extreme Championship Wrestling (1999)

Sid appeared in ECW from January 1999 to May 1999 and feuded with the Dudley Boyz, John Kronus, Skull Von Krush, and Justin Credible. He left ECW due to the monetary problems plaguing the promotion.

[edit] World Championship Wrestling (1999-2001)

After spending some time in ECW, Eudy returned to WCW in 1999 where he feuded with Kevin Nash, Goldberg, and Scott Steiner. WCW began nicknaming Sid "The Millennium Man", shortly after Chris Jericho's "Millennium Man" gimmick debuted in the WWF. WCW even released a home video highlighting Sid's return to WCW called Sid Vicious: Millennium Man, but on the original print the word "millennium" was misspelled. Upon returning to the WCW, Sid Vicious was dubbed as undefeated, having a winning streak much like Goldberg had previously. Goldberg was the one to ultimately end his streak. (WCW chose to ignore Sid's many losses in the company during his previous stint with them.)

After the "Millennium Man" gimmick ran dry, Sid became a face and started to contend for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship; he was placed in a match at Souled Out 2000 in January to fill the suddenly-vacant title after Bret Hart was forced to relinquish the title due to a concussion. He would go on to lose the match and the title to Chris Benoit, but Benoit was on his way to the WWF at the time and the title was vacated the next night on Nitro.

The next week, Sid was presented with a challenge by Nash, who had become commissioner of WCW. If he could beat Don & Ron Harris in a match on Nitro that night, he would face Nash for the championship that night. Sid completed his first task and defeated Nash in the main event to win his first WCW world championship. Two nights later on Thunder, Nash stripped Sid of the championship due to him not beating the legal Harris brother in the match on Nitro. A rematch between Sid and Nash was set up, and just like he had on Nitro, Sid defeated Nash and became champion again.

On March 19, 2000, Sid faced Jeff Jarrett in a defense of his title. He won thanks in part to help from a returning Hulk Hogan, which set up a match for the following night's Nitro pitting Sid and Hogan vs. Jarrett and Scott Steiner. During the course of the match, Sid turned heel and attacked Hogan, due to his being incensed that the fans were chanting Hogan's name. He chokeslammed Hogan and forced the referee to count Hogan pinned (the official result was a no contest). This apparently might have been to set up a match for the upcoming Spring Stampede in April. However, shortly after this, WCW began its New Blood angle, and Sid (along with all the other WCW titleholders at the time) was stripped of his championship. He did not play a large role in the angle that followed, and he vanished for several months.

He returned late in the year as the challenger to Scott Steiner's WCW Championship. Though failing to capture the championship at Starrcade, he managed to earn himself another shot at the title for the following year.

[edit] Severe injury

Eudy was scheduled to face Steiner once again at the main event at Sin on January 14, 2001.[1] Prior to the match, members of WCW management allegedly felt that Eudy needed to broaden his arsenal of wrestling moves and suggested that he try an aerial maneuver, despite his "unwillingness."

[edit] Wrestling Blooper

During the match, Eudy consequently suffered a leg fracture following his leap from the middle turnbuckle in an attempted big boot. This had him landing his 300+ lb. frame on one foot while kicking with the other. The fracture, filmed during the event, was too graphic for many TV stations to re-air.[2] Eudy broke his left leg in half, snapping both the tibia and fibula, with at least one of the bones breaking through the skin.[2]

After the injury, Sid pondered retiring from wrestling for good.

"I had about a year left on my contract, and I was thinking back then prior to hurting my leg what was I going to do as far as wrapping up my career. The only thing I really wanted to do was ideally go out in a big pay-per-view, like a WrestleMania or something like that main event, leave like that, and not come back again. It would really be the retirement match."[3]

A 17-inch (43 cm) rod was placed in his leg during the two-hour surgery. For a while he used a cane to walk. Sid later sued WCW claiming that he was made to jump off the middle rope against his objections.[3]

The injury forced a plot change in the 2001 SuperBrawl Revenge event. The main event was supposed to be Kevin Nash, Diamond Dallas Page, and Sid against Scott Steiner, Jeff Jarrett, and Road Warrior Animal but was rewritten as Kevin Nash vs. Scott Steiner.

[edit] Return to wrestling

During his rehabilitation, Eudy made several appearances as World Wrestling All-Stars commissioner during their 2002 Australian tour, though at the beginning of WWA's Sydney show, it was announced that Eudy would not be featured due to a broken arm. On June 5, 2004, Eudy returned to active wrestling with the Canadian-based Internet Wrestling Syndicate. Appearing as Pierre Carl Ouellet's mystery partner, Eudy competed and won a ten team battle royal. He continues to wrestle on the independent circuit, staying known as a durable competitor despite the infamous leg break.

[edit] Memphis Wrestling

Sid came to Memphis Wrestling, with Johnny Rotten, his brother, on July 14, 2007, starting a feud with Jerry Lawler, and serving as "Hollywood" Jimmy Blainlock's enforcer.

[edit] Plans to return to WWE 2007

On November 25, 2007, Sid appeared on Byte This and was interviewed by Todd Grisham. During the interview, Sid stated that he would love to return to WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). He is rumored to return at Summer Slam 2008.

[edit] Personal life

Eudy is married to Sabrina Paige and they have two sons together, Frank and Gunnar. He now enjoys life in Marion, Arkansas.[4] His favorite pastimes are softball and big game hunting.
