[edit] Deletion of Loren Cass

The Wikipedia entry for the feature film "Loren Cass" was recently deleted and I'm confused as to why. It seemed to comply with the notability guidelines and has also been up for a long time, probably over a year, perhaps even several. The subject matter is supported by numerous major newspaper articles, reviews, and websites around the Internet. The Wikipedia entry was linked to by a number of websites and got/gets a large amount of traffic via Google, as evidenced by the official website's incoming traffic logs from Wikipedia visitors. I believe this entry was deleted in error as part of an entry for the director, "Chris Fuller", and the Wikipedia deletion logs even show a comment by the deletor referring to it as a "documentary film", which it is not (as evidenced by the Wikipedia article itself and, obviously, numerous other Internet sources) and further proves that the deletion was inappropriate. Thanks for the consideration. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.92.208.140 (talk) 20:09, 10 April 2007 (UTC).

  • It was deleted as the result of a deletion discussion. Perhaps provide a few citations of the major newspaper sources you have mentioned, so that I can have a look? - Mailer Diablo 10:01, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

The deletion discussion was regarding the entry for the film's director, not the film itself, which was lumped in at the last moment prior to deletion and not discussed at all. Here are a few examples of external sources regarding the film. It is brief and by no means comprehensive, there are many more. If you need me to dig them all up I will, but again, I didn't write the original article (which had the sources referenced) and would prefer the old one just get re-posted. If I need to research and re-write the entire article myself, just let me know. Until then, here's the examples:

http://www.sptimes.com/2006/10/11/Neighborhoodtimes/Movie_will_have_its_f.shtml http://www.nationalmediamuseum.org.uk/bff/2007/film_detail.asp?details=all&filmid=6674&class= http://www.auff.org/uploads/AUFF.pdf http://imdb.com/title/tt0464098/

Please re-post the original as soon as possible, if that is what you deem appropriate. Again, it's been up there for years to no ones detriment, however, it being down as killed many links throughout the web and throughout Wikipedia itself, not to mention deprived Wikipedia users of information on a relevant work of modern art (that many are actively looking for). Thanks again.

  • Ah, now that's something. Perhaps you may to put forth a case of appeal at deletion review. - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 15:29, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Coa

Hi there. It seems as if the disambiguation article at Coa (which was referenced from several places) was, at some point, turned into a redirect to a non-existent page and then you deleted it.[1] I understand that you probably came into this blind, and thought you were deleting an empty redirect page rather than a subject of vandalism or a botched move, however the original disambiguation article should probably be restored (I'm honestly not sure of what entries it had at this point, so it would be hard to re-create). It had been around for quite some time (years?) before it went away. I don't think I was its author (at least, I didn't catalog it on my user page as I normally would have), but I could be wrong about that. -Harmil 21:57, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Thank you. -Harmil 18:19, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Explain Deletion of Page...

I would like to know your reasoning for deleting the page Opal Davis...

I created this page to honor my Great-Grandmother who among here countless community service actions through out here 86 years on this planet started the first large service blood bank.

There were no inaccuracies or glaring biases in the page, so I would like to know why you took it upon yourself to delete a page with no errors or offenses.

Thank you for your attention.

[edit] Ladies Professional Wrestling Association

Hello, I noticed you deleted this article back in February due to an expired prod. Could you maybe undelete it? It was a notable wrestling fed in its time (the largest women's only fed) and even put on a PPV called "LPWA Super Ladies Showdown". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by TJ Spyke (talkcontribs) 08:57, 13 April 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Gl trade

hi, can you tell me why you deleted Gl trade? this was not advertising, merely stating what they do, they are one of the biggest IT suppliers in the banking world. Also, they are a French based company and this article was a translation for the French wikipedia site, which had been around for a few years. Is this also incorrect?

PLEASE ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS!!

  • Firstly, get some independent, reliable sources to prove that it is one of the biggest IT suppliers around. Secondly, it needs to be rewritten as the deleted version sounds like an ad, in which we have more stringent standards here. - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 02:21, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
Its one of the biggest IT suppliers in the finance sector!! see the fintech 100 :http://www.financial-insights.com/FI/services/fintech100.jsp
Also, my point is that its an exact copy of the french wiki, so why not take that off too??
Last point, WHY DOES IT TAKE YOU WEEKS TO ANYTHING!! if you can't keep up with everything prehpas you should rethink about being a editor.
If you want it fast take it to deletion review. - Mailer Diablo 15:27, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RfB

Would you mind doing the transclusion, since you're the nominator? Thanks! ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 15:49, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Well, looks like the RfB process is too political for anyone to pass right now, meaning you have to phrase everything just right or or they'll nit-pick your comments to death and interpolate your comments to mean something totally different than what you meant. I would think it would be more about trust and whether you understood the RfA process well enough, but it appears not. It was refreshing, though, to have have oppose v-words (can't say "vote" or someone might go ballistic!) give actual reasons rather than "we have enough", even if I think they were very weak reasons. Perhaps I'll try again in a few months. Thanks again for your trust and support. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 19:42, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding a non admin closure I recently attempted

I am soliciting your advice because you are a veteran administrator and AFD closer.

Several hours ago I executed an early closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alekhine's defense, Modern variation, 4...Bg4, seeing that the nominator, User:FrozenPurpleCube, was the only user advocating deletion against 10+ others in favor of keeping. The case was complicated by a few factors:

  1. There were 8 articles on chess openings up for discussion, and the nominator would have listed more but didn't see the need. He stated that chess opening articles in general should be reexamined.
  2. Some of those articles were well-developed; others were stubs. Accordingly, some users, such as User:Sjakkalle, advocated keeping the longer articles and merging the shorter ones.
  3. I was unaware of this, but previously an administrator had closed the debate as a snowball keep, and the nominator reopened the case and asked for more time. Had I known about this, I would have commented as a normal user, without closing.

The nominator reverted my closure, showing me that according to the deletion policy, non-admins can only close in unambiguous cases, which is violated by the second of the three issues above. My understanding up to that point was that non-admins could close cases where the consensus was overwhelming and admin tools (i.e. deletion) was definitely not necessary. Policy is on his side, and my closure was motivated to some extent by WP:IAR, seeing that the discussion had gone on long enough (longer than most AFDs). FrozenPurpleCube accused me of faulty reasoning in addition to acting out of process, and I have disputed that, as you can read on our respective talk pages.

I have two questions for you.

  1. Was I mistaken in attempting to close the debate as I did? If so, give all the reasons please.
  2. If I had been an admin, and if the requisite amount of time had passed, would my closure have been correct? In other words, was this a failure of process or also a failure of judgment? Or in other words, did I have a good sense of what the consensus was saying?

Please look at my comments on the AFD page - they are identical to my closing comments from before. Just do a word search for my username.

Please respond on my talk page. Thank you very much for taking a look at this.

Best regards, YechielMan 22:10, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Still_Pending

I went to add some more notability to this article and discovered that it had been deleted. It appears to me that it was already reviewed for notability and it passed the criteria. There is some additional, rather significant notability about this band that I would like to discuss and, if possible, have the article re-instated. Please let me know how to begin this process, if possible. Thank you. Stampsations 03:58, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Stampsations

[edit] Bias Vineyards recreated

Howdy! I'm a bit new to the deletion side of things so forgive me if this is a "dense" question. You closed the AfD on Bias Vineyards as delete and the original author has recreated the article. What is the proper way to respond to this? Is this something that can be speedied or should it go through AfD again? Thanks for your time. AgneCheese/Wine 06:57, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Okay, after reading some more I saw that there was a speedy category for this particular thing so I went a head with that. Thanks again! AgneCheese/Wine 07:05, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] FreeWave Technologies

This article was deleted a few days ago via prod. I'm new to this and was having trouble locating the talk on exactly why this page was deleted. In the past, the article was flagged due to its content, but I had thought I fixed everything appropriately.

SourSW 16:02, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

  • I read through the WP:CORP criteria and am unable to see how the company fails the requirements. Their products are well in known in the wireless industry following closely behind Microwave Data Systems as #2 in that market. Well known is the UAVs the military use (like the predator) utilize FreeWave's radio's to communicate. There are plenty of news articles online as well. Just search Colorado and the Fast 50. FreeWave has been listed in the Fast 50 (Basically a top 50 fasting growing companies of Colorado) for 8 yrs in a row. I guess I've been the main person to maintain the page and I've been busy with school/military recently and haven't checked in on it for a few months. So, basically I missed this Prod, and respectifully request the decision to delete be reversed. SourSW 21:36, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Curious about deletion of "List of famous monsters"

[edit] Webalect Deletion

I have been informed by an associate that the Webalect Wiki has been removed and I am curious to why. I have read your explanation stating it looked like a vague advertisement and I must declare ignorance and ask for forgiveness. Perhaps it could be transwikied by an unbiased writer, interpreting the message from the previous definition. We have been directing people to Wikipedia for educating on not only Webalect but as a resource for a myriad of technical and design oriented terms and acronyms.

My intention to offer an educational definition was genuine and would hate for the removal be at the hands of my chose of words. Please let me know your thoughts. I can be reached at craig@pmlweb.com. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.96.189.79 (talk) 19:25, 23 April 2007 (UTC).

[edit] The University Computer Club

Hi

A while back you deleted "The University Computer Club". We're doing quite a bit of work to research the club, establish notability and bring the article up to scratch. Just wondering if the article was backed up by you (or the system in some way I haven't found) before deletion?

Thanks Grahame 11:23, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Heh, I guess I should have been more specific. Could you send a copy of the article to grahame@angrygoats.net (or just my talk page, whichever you like) - I won't be pasting the article straight back, although I expect we'll add back a much revised and improved article addressing the issue of notability within a week or so.

[edit] Late for the Sky was just deleted

I have a feeling that somewhere in the article history is an article about the Jackson Browne album called "Late for the Sky" - since someone went to the trouble of uploading Image:JacksonBrowneLatefortheSky.jpg in 2003 (and it's only now showing up in Special:Unusedimages), and it's the only article for an album of his that is missing. Hello. i don't get why you returned a 'no consensus' decision for the page? [3]

yes, the article was badly written, incorrectly titled etc. but the fact is it clearly met the notability guidelines; "Has had a charted hit on any national music chart."

so how can their be any ambiguity on its deletion? Bungalowbill 18:14, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Yes, i relise that it defaults to not delete the page, and it is arguable therefore relatively academic, but it should have been an unquestioned 'keep'?? ~ Bungalowbill

[edit] AFD weirdness

Hi...would you mind taking a look at this? The article Role-playing game clichés has an AFD tag on it dating to March 8. The tag links to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Video game plot and universe clichés which resulted in a delete, but I can't figure out whether that means the RPG article can be deleted right now or whether it needs to go through an AFD or what. Can you let me know on my talk page? Thanks. Otto4711 03:11, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Why was my page deleted?

I had a plan to work on all the psytrance artists and DJs and provide really up-to-date pages on all of them.

I just checked back and my entry for "Kristian" was deleted following an AfD with your name beside it.

Can you provide me with more information? Kristian is probably this country's (United Kingdom) most popular and well-known psytrance DJs. If my first entry on psytrance DJs and artists is going to be removed, what is the point of me carrying on with my plan?

Type "Kristian psytrance" into Google [4] and you'll find 11,200 pages on him. Try "Kristian psychedelic trance" [5] and there's another 717. How many hits and gigs and performances must an artist have before he or she is considered Wikiworthy? I mean, Astrix has a page, Deedrah has a page... I wonder whether those "Wikipedians" who discuss pages for inclusion or otherwise have any idea whatsoever about psytrance music. I think not.

Is there some kind of vandalism against psytrance by fans of some other genre of electronic music? A comprehensive list of artists and DJs from the scene disappeared also recently List_of_psychedelic_trance_artists Tris2000 11:54, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
