AWWDMBJAWGCAWAIFDSPBATDMTD

The motto of the AWWDMBJAWGCAWAIFDSPBATDMTD is Est omnino difficile iudicare inclusionis meritum cuiusdam rei in encyclopædia cum ratio sciendi quid populi referat incerta sit, sed nihilominus aliquid encyclopædiam dedecet, which translates to, "it is generally difficult to judge the worthiness of a particular topic for inclusion in an encyclopedia considering that there is no certain way to know what interests people, but some topics nevertheless are not fit for an encyclopedia." This motto reflects the desire of these Wikipedians to be reluctant, but not entirely unwilling, to remove articles from Wikipedia.

Hi, I am Sjakkalle, (see the section at the bottom of this page for the explanation of the username) who lives in Bergen, Norway. I am 25 and an applied mathematician. In June 2005 I was made an administrator, but I resigned them in November 2006 due to lack of time. I had admin access restored in April 2008, but I don't intend to be all that active with them. But if you need help with something which needs the admin tools, feel free to ask!

[edit] My First Article and the VFD on it

I edited for some time anonymously before registering an account in March.

The first article I created was TCS Victory, the main carrier in Wing Commander III, Heart of the Tiger. After exactly 44 minutes it was tagged "This article has been listed for deletion". Ah nuts... That debate is at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/TCS Victory.

Nonetheless, the article did survive. Even though a majority did vote to delete, among all those votes saying that the article was "fancruft" were some merge votes. About a week later, the vfd notice was replaced with a far less distressing merge notice. And that notice disappeared too when it turned out that the category "Wing Commander spacecraft" had far too many articles to try and merge together. HA!

It took a long time before I got an article listed for deletion again, in fact it was TCS Victory again, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/TCS Victory, this time kept with a great majority.

The second distinct article on AFD is another Wing Commander related article I created as an anon, Krant medium fighter. Currently it seems headed for either a keep or merge result.

Both articles now redirect to their respective games where the important info is already included. Probably just as well, nobody will try nominating them for deletion now.

[edit] Redirection

I have a certain obsession with creating redirects.

  1. When I create an article I often attach ten or more redirects to it. Look at all my beautiful redirects to punctuation (chess) [1] !
  2. When I search for an article and fail to find it using the first search word attempted? Redirect the first search word!
  3. A duplicate article listed on VfD with a semi-sensible title? Don't delete it, redirect it!

I feel that many of the problems related to duplicate articles would have been prevented with more redirects to articles. As a rough estimate, I would say that redirects should outnumber articles at least three to one, and perhaps even more.

[edit] Editing my contributions

Actually, I love it when someone starts editing articles that I have created. It is enjoyable to see that someone is so interested in what I write that they want to make contributions to it. Go ahead, edit away! (But do not vandalize.)

[edit] A chain to defeat Viswanathan Anand

I am a somewhat active chess player, and although my Elo rating is at 1267, low middle-of-the-range for tournament players, I have the vanity to prove that there exists a chain of games in which I have defeated the World Champion Viswanathan Anand.

[edit] Step 1

All games are given in algebraic notation and are viewable on the online Chessbase database. It starts back in 2003 when I met a promising player by the name of Øyvind Riisem in the Bergen Summer Grand Prix.

White: Sjakkalle

Black: Øyvind Riisem

Event: Round 4 of the Bergen Summer Grand Prix, group B

Opening: King's Indian Defense

1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6 5.f3 0-0 6.Nge2 Na6 7.Be3 c5 8.dxc5 Nxc5 9.Nd4 Bd7 10.Qd2 Re8 11.Be2 Rc8 12.g4 Bc6 13.g5 Nfd7 14.b4 Ne6 15.b5 Bxb5 16.Ndxb5 Qa5 17.Rc1 Ne5 18.Nd5 Qa6 19.0-0 b6 20.f4 Nd7 21.f5 Nec5 22.Nbc7 Black resigns

[edit] Step 2

Move ahead two years, to the 2005 circuit championship for Hordaland. I did not play in this event, but Riisem did, and this is what happened against Terje Karlsen.

White: Terje Karlsen

Black: Øyvind Riisem

Event: Round 3 of the 2005 Hordaland circuit championship

Opening: Scotch Game

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nxc6 bxc6 6.Bd3 d5 7.e5 Ng4 8.0-0 Bc5 9.Bf4 f6 10.h3 fxe5 11.Bxe5 Nxe5 12.Qh5+ Nf7 13.Nc3 g6 14.Bxg6 hxg6 15.Qxg6 Qd6 16.Qg7 Be6 17.a3 0-0-0 White resigns.

[edit] Step 3

I have to admit, winning with seventeen moves as Black is more impressive than winning in 22 with White, especially considering that Karlsen defeated a certain Kjetil A. Lie, who is now a very strong grandmaster. The place is the Troll Masters at Gausdal. The year is 2001...

White: Kjetil A. Lie

Black: Terje Karlsen

Event: Round 3 of the 2001 Gausdal Troll Masters

Opening: Scotch Game

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.c3 d5 5.exd5 Qxd5 6.cxd4 Bb4+ 7.Nc3 Nf6 8.Be2 Ne4 9.Bd2 Bxc3 10.bxc3 Nxd2 11.Qxd2 0-0 12.0-0 Bf5 13.Rfe1 Rfe8 14.Qf4 Re7 15.Bf1 Rae8 16.Qxc7 Qa5 17.Qxb7 Ne5 18.Qb2 Nxf3+ 19.gxf3 Bg6 20.Rxe7 Qg5+ 21.Bg2 Qxe7 22.Qd2 h5 23.d5 h4 24.h3 Qf6 25.Rd1 Bh5 26.Qd3 Bg6 27.Qd4 Qd6 28.c4 Bc2 29.c5 Qh6 30.Rd2 Re1+ 31.Kh2 Be4 32.Qe5 Qxd2 33.Qe8+ Kh7 34.Qxf7 Bg6 35.Qxa7 Qf4+ White resigns

[edit] Step 4

Well, Lie may not have been a GM at that time, but he is now among Norway's strongest players, behind only Magnus Carlsen. He has defeated several strong GMs in his career, including this one:

White: Kjetil A. Lie

Black: Alexey Dreev

Event: Round 8 of Gausdal Classics, 2007

Opening: Sicilian Defence, Rauzer Variation

1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 d6 6.Bg5 Bd7 7.Be2 e6 8.Ndb5 Qb8 9.a4 Be7 10.Qd2 a6 11.Na3 Qc7 12.Rd1 Na5 13.Bf4 Qb6 14.Bxd6 Bxd6 15.Qxd6 Qxb2 16.Rd3 0-0-0 17.Nd1 Qa1 18.Rc3+ Bc6 19.Qe5 Nb3 20.Nc4 Nd7 21.Qg3 Nbc5 22.Nd6+ Kb8 23.Nxf7+ Ka8 24.Nxd8 Nxe4 25.Qe3 Rxd8 26.Rxc6 Ndf6 27.Rc4 Nd6 28.Qb6 Rd7 29.Qb2 Qxb2 30.Nxb2 Nxc4 31.Nxc4 Ka7 32.Bd3 Black Resigns

[edit] Step 5

Dreev has defeated Anand...

White: Viswanathan Anand

Black: Alexey Dreev

Event: PCA/Intel GP

Opening: French Defence

1.e4 e6 2.d3 d5 3.Nd2 Nf6 4.Ngf3 b6 5.e5 Nfd7 6.d4 c5 7.c3 Be7 8.Bb5 Ba6 9.a4 Bb7 10.0-0 Nc6 11.Re1 cxd4 12.Nxd4 Qc7 13.N2f3 0-0 14.Bxc6 Bxc6 15.Bg5 Bd8 16.Bxd8 Raxd8 17.b4 Bb7 18.Re3 Ba6 19.Qc2 h6 20.Rae1 Rc8 21.h4 Rfe8 22.Nh2 Qc4 23.Qd2 Nf8 24.Rg3 Kh8 25.Ng4 Nh7 26.Kh2 Qc7 27.f4 Qe7 28.Rh3 Rc4 29.Ne3 Rc7 30.f5 Rec8 31.Kg1 Bb7 32.Nb5 Rd7 33.Nxa7 Ra8 34.Nb5 Rxa4 35.Nd4 Ra8 36.Ng4 exf5 37.e6 fxe6 38.Ne5 Nf8 39.Nxd7 Qxd7 40.Rhe3 Bc8 41.Nf3 Qd8 42.Ne5 Qxh4 43.Rh3 Qf6 44.Qd4 Bb7 45.Qxb6 Bc8 46.Qc7 Kg8 47.Rg3 h5 48.b5 h4 49.Rf3 Ra2 50.Qxc8 Qg5 51.Rf2 Rxf2 52.Kxf2 Qg3+ 53.Kf1 h3 54.gxh3 Qxh3+ 55.Ke2 Qh2+ 56.Kd1 Qb2 57.Qc5 Qb1+ 58.Kd2 Qb2+ 59.Ke3 Qh2 60.Nf3 Qh6+ 61.Ke2 Qh5 62.Qd4 Qh3 63.Rg1 g6 64.b6 Qh5 65.b7 Qh7 White resigns

And so, Anand is defeated.

This is the shortest path I have to Anand that I'm aware of, and I fully realize that beating (or for that matter, meeting) Anand is a next-to-impossible impossible task for a player of my "strength". Yet knowing that players sometimes pull off upsets is a heartening thing to know when you sit down against someone a few rungs above you.

[edit] Articles Created

Among the articles I have created on this subject are

None of the articles I have created on the English version have been featured, but I did create a "good" article on the Norwegian version, no:Sjakkåpning. That was really an abbreviated version of the English chess openings article, and there were a number of other users who put in considerable effort in proofreading.

[edit] Username "Sjakkalle"

Chess is the inspiration to my username. One of the (bogus) principles novice players in chess play by is "Always give a check when you can, it may be mate. Anyway it is better to lose and have given a check than to never have checked at all."

...So I made the username like this

Check everyone

Sjakk alle (in Norwegian)

Sjakkalle
