Lauren "Smiley" Valentine is a fictional character on the long-running British Channel 4 television soap opera Hollyoaks.
She is played by actress Dominique Jackson.

Lauren Valentine is the illegitimate daughter of Leo Valentine who first arrived in the village with her mother Valerie Holden and her brother Danny on September 6, 2007. [1] Valerie dropped them off at the Valentine residence and demanded that Leo looks after them while she sorts out her housing problems. Lauren & Danny were totally unknown to Calvin & Sasha, and it wasn't until she referred to Leo as 'Dad' that they realised Leo had been living a double life.
Lauren had a rocky relationship with Sasha at first. Later, when Fletch tried to win Sasha back with a song he wrote, Lauren helped Fletch write a better one. Later, when Sasha laughed at the cheesyness of the song and kicked him out, Lauren showed signs of starting to accept her new family when the two began slagging off Fletch. When Valerie decided to stay in Greece, Lauren and Danny were set to join her. However the two decided to stay in Hollyoaks. In recent episodes there have been hints of a relationship between her and new boy Newt. When Newt returns on the 28th December 2007 she receives a gift from him, her first gift from a boy.
At the beginning of 2008, Val returned from Greece. Lauren wanted nothing to do with her, but Val persuaded Danny and Leo to give her another chance and let her stay in the Valentine house until she could get back on her feet. That same month, Lauren and Newt was accused of 'kidnapping' Tom. Before Tom went missing, he forgot to tell O.B. and Summer that he was going to return Newt's sketchbook, which Tom was staying long before Tom was actually reported missing.
She and Newt sit together in Geography. After she tried to 'cheat' in a geography test, she was held back, and given an after school detention every day of the week. Newt tried to stand up for her, but Russ Owen saw through his plan. Lauren and Newt then spread rumours about him around school.
Lauren also plotted revenge against Elliot Bevan when he broke his promise to help them with their studies. Lauren overheard Elliot talking about his father, and along with a reluctant Newt, contacted him through an Internet message board and convinced him to meet them in the woods. Elliot expected to meet his father, and suffered a nervous breakdown when no one arrived. Elliot disappeared for several days and the guilt-ridden teens feared the worst. Their nightmare nearly came true when they discovered a body, only for the corpse to be identified as Sean Kennedy. When Elliot returned, Newt told him what had happened, and Elliot forced them to tell their parents.
Lauren began working at Evissa, per Valerie's orders, after Carmel noticed her immaculately designed nails.
