Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! [edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/St. Clements University

Hi. I see you've weighed in on this AfD. I just noticed that TheronJ has substantially cleaned up the article, and I think St. Clements University is worth another look. Regards, William Pietri 06:33, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

That was not my doing. Someone else had gotten ahold of my account over a year ago and used it to vandalize that page. I have since changed my password.

[edit] Revert

I notice that you reverted my last edit to the ejaculation article, but I fail to see why, since the bulk of my edit was updating to the new reference style, noting an unreferenced statement, and clarifying a poorly-written section. --HarmonicFeather 08:39, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism on ted drewes page

Yes, I did vandalize the ted drewes page after it was shamelessly returned to its inaccurate state. Yes, the christmas trees suck. Yes, there are rednecks yelling at each other all the time. Whoever is in charge of the wiki page is either an employee who wants to paint a false picture of what it is like or has never been there. I will continue to edit the page until the lies about ted drewes being a quality establishment are washed away forever. Congrats on being a pathetic nerd with nothing better to do than stop online vandalism of one of the least credible sources for information in the history of the internet. Hey, I think your mom is calling you from up the stairs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.217.129.175 (talkcontribs)

Expressing your point of view and conducting original research is strictly forbidden on Wikipedia pages. Read WP:POV and WP:OR. Please refrain from vandalism and personal attacks in the future. --Ineffable3000 00:58, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Ha, that is laughable. That page is nothing more than an advertisement to start with. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.217.129.175 (talkcontribs)

[edit] Rosario Ybarra

Hello ineffable3000!

The name of Senator Rosario Ybarra is with an "Y" (Ybarra) not with "I" (Ibarra). Most people write Ybarra's name in the wrong way. [2]

[edit] Nishkid64's RfA thanks

Thank you very much for participating in my RfA, which closed successfully earlier today with a result of (60/9/4). [edit] AFD

No need to move AFDs from one day to the next - they should stay in the log of the day they were opened. Also, please add new nominations at the bottom of the list, otherwise they will get missed by people who just check the latest additions. Cheers, Yomanganitalk 01:02, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Peter Yavanov

Thank you for your message. As you might have guessed, I did not close the AfD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Peter Yavanov. I have reported this at WP:ANI and I hope that Infrogtation will be blocked. --TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 07:22, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rosario Ybarra

Hello ineffable3000

I left a message to Abogarp, because I sent a mail to Rosario´s office to know from her mouth which is her real surname. Since you are from counter vandalism unit I want to make clear there was not such thing from me.

What I rejact it´s the censorship. The "Liga 23 de Septiembre" was an armed organization, not just a "communist organization", and killed soldiers and policemen, but also innocent civilian people.

[edit] Battle of the Durham Station

If you have an argument that it is not true, please nominate it for deletion. I decided to withdraw the AfD because I didn't have sufficient evidence that it is a hoax. --Ineffable3000 01:19, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

I doubt that a hoax is involved. It is difficult to prove a negative, so I hope I took the appropriate course by asking for references. If none are forthcoming after a week or so, the deletion request will be appropriate. It is too bad that there is no better way to be aware of when some of these discussions are taking place. Perhaps my comments would have had a more immediate effect in the appropriate context. When someone referred to getting Google results on the battle, the only one that I got was from a website called brainyhistory.com and I have found that they have spurious entries on there from time to time. You reverted an edit I made reverting vandalism on an article. [edit] Revert vandalism

i am here to ask for your help. KojiDude and TTN have been vandalizing and removing information from the Dodoria, Zarbon, and Kiwi pages. They purposely undo edits on the page and they caused for some members to get unnecessarily blocked recently using 3rr as their excuse. Since one member is not allowed to edit the same page reverted during the same 24 hours, they each take turns on these pages, reverting and creating chaos by diminishing the profiles, deleting pictures, and taking out relevant information. I ask you as a fellow wikipedian to please bring a stop to them, either by banning them or some other means of stopping them from editing those pages. Much honesty.

Don't listen to him, he is a possible sockpuppet of a user who's been blocked for one month.--SUIT42 22:46, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Esotericism does not imply non-notability

Hi. I have reverted your inclusion of links to Wikipedia:Esotericism does not imply non-notability in existing notability guidelines or proposals. Since you have just started that proposal and it has yet to receive any sort of feedback, it's way too early to start refering to it in guidelines. [edit] Request for edit summary

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. [edit] Battle of Amstetten

I have completed the article on the Battle of Amstetten. Can you please verify the infromation (esp. numbers) and add additional information to it? I do not have many resources on that specific battle. --Ineffable3000 01:46, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Sure, glad to help. I've made some revisions, hope they meet with your approval. I have no sources readily at hand either, so I used the numbers based on the Order of Battle at the Austerlitz campaign. There Murat had 7,400 troopers, he probably had much closer to 8,000 at Amstetten, plus part of Lannes' 12,000+ man corps, so at least a division of 3-4,000, giving the French easily 10,000 or more. This wargames miniture site [3] estimates the French as having just over 8,000 engaged. The Coalition was clearly outnumbered, but this is not surprising given the strategic context plus the fact that rear-guards usually act against superior enemy forces, in an attempt to trade lives for time. Time which, in this case, was not very well used. Cheers--R.D.H. (Ghost In The Machine) 03:29, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Battle of Amstetten

Meh, I'm not really an expert on Napoleonic warfare; I'd suggest asking UberCryxic, who knows a lot more about that topic than I do. Kirill Lokshin 03:42, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

I've looked up and added more to the battle. Try this site and see if you agree with my conclusion. Looks like Lannes forces did most of the work. Also note the excellent scouting on the French side and how much it affected the battle. Note that Lannes was commanding a Elite formation and this too was helping the outcome. Given the numbers there was little doubt how it was going to turn out but be aware that the allied force accompished exactly what it intended forcing the French to spend the entire day clearing the position. http://www.napoleonicminiatureswargame.com/amstetten.html Tirronan 20:53, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

I will see if I can find anything more conclusive for you Tirronan 21:17, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Open City

Hi, I don't have any particular opinion whether the Open City should redirect to the film or to the definition, but please, in the future take care to sort out the incoming links when you re-redirect the page—all 5 links to Open City were meant for the film. Duja 09:00, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lists of (insert characteristic) people

Just starting to realise how many of these stupid things there are. As well as beards, moustaches, and baldness- we also seem to have List of famous short men, List of famous short women, List of famous tall men, List of famous tall women. I now worry my flippant examples could spawn whole new ones. Seriously though, do think these should be AfD as well? WJBscribe 05:47, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Glad you agree. If I find any other similar ones, I shall nominate them myself. WJBscribe 05:50, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
OK. I'll deal with those. WJBscribe 06:00, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Just a couple of small notes. One is that "strong" is mostly a waste of time when making a recomendation, it's the arguments that count, not how you feel about them. Second (leading on nicely from that) is that XfD is a debate, not a vote. If by nominating something you provide a clear and lucid rational, preferably backed by policy, there is no need to "vote" with an embolded Delete.
152.91.9.144 06:48, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

I'd like to add that, in the future, please only have 2 or 3 proposals for a deletion of articles in the same field open at a time, and please discuss what problems you might have on the article talk page before proposing a deletion. If there's clear violation of wiki-policy, it's not a problem, but you've proposed deletions for numerous articles citing problems that are not considered good reasons for deletion, and are in fact cited as problems that should be fixed without deletion (See WP:Deletion policy). It's particularly annoying when you cite reasons that are not considered valid reasons for deleting an article, e.g. that the List of battles (alphabetical) has non-battles on it and then don't provide any examples of that. It wouldn't hurt you to spend some time making your case for deletion rock-solid. -NorsemanII 05:30, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] George Vernadsky

Fairuse images are expected to be of low resolution. I suppose if you resize the image there will be no damage to the article but less problems with image police. [edit] Re: Anglo-Spanish War (1800s)

I'm not sure that's quite correct. The disambiguation page suggests that there was an interruption in 1802–03, and thus splits the conflict into two wars; but other lists I've seen consider both parts a single war. Kirill Lokshin 06:02, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:La guerra grande.jpg

Could you provide a more specific description of what is pictured here so I can note it on the main page in the DYK section? Ideally: which nation/faction does the ship represent and what naval battle or blockade is it taking part in? Savidan 05:37, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

I really don't know anything about the topic. If you don't know...at least I don't feel bad about the relatively vague caption. Savidan 05:40, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
It's probably fine as it is. Even if we knew which Seige it was, that seems a little wordy. Savidan 05:43, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sokha

I also think a picture is a must. This one seems to be OK (judging from the caption, it was created in the 19th century, so it should be in public domain now), but other than indirect clues I can't find anything regarding this picture's status. It certainly doesn't look like a modern picture to me, but my perception is unfortunately not a guarantee of the picture's free status. I suppose you could email the site and ask them where the picture comes from. I'll also try to scour my (rather limited) home library in case there is anything there.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 16:51, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

By the way, as much as I am ashamed to ask this—what is the difference between a sokha and a plow? Aren't they the same thing?—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 16:53, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

OK, thanks. Regarding your comment at the announcements board, I'll check my unabridged Merriam-Webster tonight to see if this is considered to be a loanword. If not, it might probably be a better idea to make it a subsection in plow anyway. Also, another question: is a sokha much different from an ard?—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 17:40, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Sokha is not in Merriam-Webster by the way. Be bold. And can you also take a look at Uchraspred, Rabfak, ad Skhod. --Ineffable3000 17:46, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Have you looked it up in the unabridged version of Merriam-Webster? If not, you'd be surprised what they have there... As for the other three examples, the first two don't really have an (approximate) equivalent in English the way "sokha" does. "Skhod" can easily be translated as "gathering"; it's a legal term applicable to countries besides Russia.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 18:00, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Remove the "Loanword" category if you do not think it is a loanword. It is hard to determine whether something should have it's own article or not. [5] has enough information on the sokha to make a big article about it. And I'll just fair use the picture for now. --Ineffable3000 17:49, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
The only sure way (I know of) to find out whether it's a loanword or not is to check the OED. If a word is not there, it's not a loadword but a transliteration. Unfortunately, I don't have access to OED, so I have to make do with unabridged Merriam-Webster, which is not nearly as complete. As for the picture, fair use should be fine for now.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 18:00, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Will do tonight when I get home.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 18:04, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
There is no entry for sokha in unabridged Merriam-Webster.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 22:33, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

I'll take it as a compliment, but no, I am not a professor :)—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 18:32, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Actually, my knoweledge of the Russian history is not as extensive as you seem to believe. I certainly know more than an average Joe (or Ivan), but not really all that much more. Russian history is among my interests as well, but I never made a point to study it purposfully, and I prefer to contribute to the areas of Wikipedia where I can offer more expertise.
As for the information about myself, that's something I chose not to divulge for personal reasons. Sorry! I can tell that I live in the Midwest, but I'd rather not specify where. North Carolina is kind of ways off from where I live, so we are not really neighbors. I do have an old friend living in Asheville though, but that person does not edit Wikipedia :)—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 18:56, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
That I am a Russian is a fact I never tried to conceal :) I though it to be obvious... As for the second part of your question, of the three choices you offered "adult" seems to be the best match.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 19:07, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Brahman cattle.JPG

Hello. I am assuming that this is your image of cattle on Commons. The caption under the image as used in the Brahman article states that it is from India. However, I see nothing from the image or you to state where the picture was taken. Perhaps I've overlooked something. Can you comment? (Nuggetboy) (talk) (contribs) 17:38, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi, could you please tell me what the tower is shown in the picture you uploaded as I want to use it in another article to do with industrial plants but I don't know what its function is. Thanks Rexparry sydney 12:59, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply, I think I'll use something else for the piece which is about environmental impacts. Rexparry sydney 03:27, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] April Fools Day

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles that you have created yourself. If you do not believe the article deserves to be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. Leuko 05:27, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Please stop removing speedy deletion notices from articles that you have created yourself, as you did with This article is not true. If you continue, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Very funny, but put in a user subpage or unclyclopedia. The encyclopedia mainspace is no space to joke around. Danski14(talk) 05:29, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Why did you delete my page

You said "Write a novel about your life. Do not post your autobiography on Wikipedia. --Ineffable3000 20:58, 11 April 2007 (UTC)" but since when is that an autobiography if I didn't write it myself? I was writing about my cousin Rodolfo, but under his name because he wanted to be able to show people his life story. You don't have to be an ass about it assuming stuff you don't know. A lot of the information on the page was stuff he told me and some I already knew. Sorry but...I got to add it again bro. I spent WAY too much time on that page for it to just be deleted for speculated reasons. Extremador 03:57, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
