City Talk 105.9 is the name of a new commercial radio station which launched in the Liverpool area of England on the frequency of 105.9 FM on 28 January 2008. The licence to broadcast was awarded by Ofcom on 9 November 2006.

City Talk is a sister station to the Bauer Radio-owned Radio City and Magic 1548 (who replaced City Talk in its initial form see below), and they share their studios at the top of St. John's Beacon in Liverpool city centre.

Presenters include actors Margi Clarke and Dean Sullivan, football personalities Ian St John and John Aldridge, established broadcasters Phil Easton and Peter McDowall, experienced Talk Show hosts Pete Price and Roy Basnett plus newspaper journalists Larry Nield and Brian Reade. Trisha Goddard will host a Sunday evening show called "Talk to Trisha" hosted from her home in Norwich.

Programmes which have been announced include:

  • Home from the House, in which a local MP answers listeners' questions
  • Rag Mag, a programme produced by students at Liverpool John Moores University
  • Worldwide Radio, an hour from an English speaking station from wherever in the world the biggest story is that week.

Regular news, sport and business bulletins will be broadcast, as well as lifestyle, celebrity and comedy features.

City Talk previously existed on 1548 kHz between 1989 and 1991 initially between the hours of 0700 and 1900 on weekdays, which was unusual because when AM services separated from FM, they mostly turned into "oldies" music stations. Despite the format being appropriate for the AM frequency, it was not a success, and became Radio City Gold 1548, which became in turn Magic 1548, as explained above.
