(sorry that I do write in english) -how come in italian, you say a croissant is a brioche? I've seen this in many caffès in Italy: a cornetti/croissant is along with pain au chocolat defined as a 'brioche', while in France croissants and pain au chocolats are made of a different dough than brioche? Croissants are usually made of millefeuille, and brioches are a finer dough (and shaped completely different). Just curious -you may answer in ialian...

My two cents: basically the origin is the same (the croissant was a variation of a brioche, as you can read in the french wiki "Le croissant était fabriqué au départ avec une pâte voisine de celle de la brioche, mais le goût du public pour le croissant bien croustillant conduira au fil du temps à lui faire utiliser une pâte plus proche de la pâte feuilletée."). In the common language today a cornetto is a croissant, the term brioche is used for indicating any kind of pastry with similar composition and different shape/stuffing.--L'uomo in ammollo 10:48, 28 feb 2007 (CET)
