[ویرایش] زندگی نخستین و پیشینه

دالایی لاما، که در اصل تنزین گیاتسو نام دارد، در سال 1935 متولد شد و آموزش او در زمینه مسایل دینی بوداییان تبتی و همچنین سایر علوم و زبان های خارجی از سن چهار سالگی آغاز شد.

تنزین گیاتسو یکی از شانزده فرزند یک خانواده کشاورز در استان "آمدو" تبت بود و در همان سن دو سالگی به عنوان حامل روح و خرد تناسخ یافته دالایی لامای سیزدهم و جانشین او اعلام شد و دالایی لامای چهاردهم نام گرفت.

[ویرایش] زندگی در مقام دالای لاما

وی در سن پانزده سالگی به عنوان رهبر سیاسی تبت بر تخت نشست در حالیکه نیروهای جمهوری خلق چین مجددا این سرزمین را به اشغال درآورده بودند.

در پی این تحول، دالای لاما توافقی را در مورد حدود اختیارات دولت محلی تبت با مقامات چینی امضا کرد و بر اساس آن، از سوی چین به عنوان رئیس کمیته مقدماتی منطقه خودمختار تبت شناخته شد.

[ویرایش] تبعید به هندوستان

در سال 19۵۶، مردم تبت علیه آنچه که فشار دولت چین بر دولت محلی خود می دانستند قیام کردند که تا سال 19۵9 و سرکوب خشونت آمیز این قیام به دست ارتش سرخ چین ادامه داشت.

پس از سرکوب این قیام، دالای لاما همراه با جمعی از رهبران تبتی این سرزمین را ترک کرد و در هند دولت در تبعید تبت را تشکیل داد.
