[edit] Overview
At the present time 2007 a southward extension, now being built, will bring the line into the western outskirts of Swindon in Mouldon Hill Country Park. A further extension is being built beyond Hayes Knoll to South Meadow Lane which will give the the line an additional half mile towards Cricklade.
The Swindon & Cricklade Railway is one of the few British heritage railways to undertake complete reconstruction without an inheritance of track and buildings from British Rail. It began operations in the late 1970s at Blunsdon railway station, and has since extended to Hayes Knoll.
