Pioneer is an unincorporated community in Amador County, California. The town sits at 3,000 feet (909 m) above sea level, along State Route 88. The community is in ZIP code 95666 and area code 209.Pioneer was a stage stop for the Pony Express Riders, and the old Pioneer Station still stands.

In the state legislature Pioneer is located in the 1st Senate District, represented by Republican Dave Cox, and in the 10th Assembly District, represented by Republican Alan Nakanishi. Federally, Pioneer is located in California's 3rd congressional district, which has a Cook PVI of R +7[1] and is represented by Republican Dan Lungren.
