NovaLogic is a software developer and publisher established in 1985 and based in Calabasas, California. NovaLogic, Inc. was formed by current CEO John A. Garcia.[1] Garcia's background in computer software started in Southern California in the early 1980s, when he worked at DataSoft.
Garcia has evolved the company from a small arcade conversions developer to a publisher of best-selling game titles. The company remains to this day privately owned.[2] Electronic Arts is a minority shareholder.
- NovaLogic is best known for the Delta Force series of games and the Comanche Series of games.
- NovaLogic created the 1987 PC port of Bubble Bobble.
- Super Mario's Wacky Worlds is a cancelled video game planned for the Phillips CD-i, and was in development by NovaLogic.
- In 1994, NovaLogic set up their European office in London, England[citation needed].
- In 1997, NovaLogic first launched their free online matchmaking service, NovaWorld. This service allows for large online battles and stat tracking.[1]
- In 1999, NovaLogic started NovaLogic Systems, Inc. (NLS), which made training simulations for the US Army.[1]
- In 2004, NovaLogic launched Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising which allowed up to 150 players. This set a world record for the largest non-subscription FPS game at the time.[3][4]
- In 2005, NovaLogic launched 'Delta Force: Black Hawk Down' for the Xbox, which allowed up to 50 players in a multiplayer game. This broke the record for the largest console multiplayer battles at the time.[5]
- In 2005 Novalogic was fined $153,500 by the Business Software Alliance after an audit found they had unlicensed copies of software by Adobe, Apple, Autodesk, FileMaker, Macromedia, Microsoft and Symantec. [6].
