While the WikiProject is still developing, our goals are to promote a more hospitable editing environment for Israeli-Palestinian topics; quiet the battleground among editors; help prevent or resolve POV disputes; and mobilize Project members to work together to improve articles. We'd like to see a broad range of participation from WIkipedia editors, from all points of view and from various editing and admin interests. I have added a section on the "Hasbara Fellowships" direct targetting of Wikipedia here. Also, it would be great if someone could bring some NPOV to United States Office of Antiboycott Compliance section of the Economic and political boycotts of Israel article. • May 17 I have added the following text to Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(identity)#Indigenous_peoples:

References to indigenous Arab citizens of Israel should include some use of the term "Palestinian," as in "Palestinian citizens of Israel" or "Palestinian Israelis." This is because polls show that "Palestinian" is the primary self-identification of a majority or plurality of Palestinian Israelis.[2][3][4][5] This is underscored by the fact that: "Virtually all political parties, movements and non-governmental organisations from within the [Israeli] Arab community use the word 'Palestinian' somewhere in their description – at times failing to make any reference to Israel."[6] This style has also been adopted, informally at least, by major news organizations such as the BBC, e.g. "There are about 1.2 million Palestinians living in Israel who are Israeli citizens."[7][8][9]

• June 9: First: I'd like to let you know that we succeeded in changing the "Arab Israelis" category to "Arab citizens of Israel" after a long discussion and pretty dogged opposition. "Bedouin Israelis" and "Arab Israeli politicians" still need to be addressed for consistency.

Second: Today, upon re-organizing the "Ethnic and religious groupings" section, I 'discovered' that the descriptions of each population is limited to: 1. Their birth rates; 2. Their military service. It is vital that these sections, especially the Muslim and Christian sections, not limit their definition to such a very narrow scope. What is greatly needed: 1. A few sentences about Muslim and Christian locales/a BRIEF history; 2. A few sentences about prominent Muslim and Christian community figures and institutions. Without this information, clearly this section purely presents the definition of Muslims and Christians in Israel from a State demographic/military perspective, with hardly any mention of the perspective of Muslims and Christians about their communities. I am not very informed about the above 2 points (those in need of insertion). I invite those who do know, to add the missing context. Thanks, LamaLoLeshLa (talk) 04:59, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
