[edit] Eng managers

Cheers for the extended comments. All have either been fixed, responded to, or some maintenance is "under way" :-) Please do revisit. While we don't (of course) have to agree on everything, it's useful for you to challenge us if you disagree with our thinking and who knows, you may persuade us. We're both people who, without flip-flopping, are known to change our minds and U-turn when persuaded by good arguments. --Dweller (talk) 12:20, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Btw, hope you don't mind if I suggest it, but have you considered archiving some of this page? --Dweller (talk) 14:05, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Islands

Thanks for sorting that - see my note to User talk:Pterre. May need to put Grain back in the list like Dogs to say its not an island. I am a bit confused because the Isle of Grain articles says something like "not to be confused with the Isles of Grain" and then locates it in the same place. Made me wonder if there is another one further upstream. Regards Motmit (talk) 07:18, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] ITN

Woah, woah, woah. Kevin, as you are aware I meant nothing by it, and I don't know if you are aware how much of a common practice what I did is. If every time the blurb is tweaked we posted a new blurb in full, the page would be 50% longer than it is already. Several such tweaks had been suggested that were by no means unreasonable, and I added the changes. Perhaps it would be better if you did not sign your proposal and instead posted it with your comments of support underneath it followed by your signiture. That way the blurb can be seen as more or less community property, which IMHO it sort of is. The only time we should repost the blurb is when someone has an entirely new take on its wording. Simple linking shouldn't be considered such a massive change. -- Grant.Alpaugh 11:28, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your comment

Your obviously confusing race and religion. The differences are so vast that they can be hardly covered in a thousand articles but to cut it down to a single statement; There is no such thing as a race of Islam. As such your allegation is not only completely unfounded but as the wording is so politically charged it is borderline defamation. I hope that you would take care when throwing around such charges as racially motivated edits. --Lemmey (talk) 20:59, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Again Race and nationality have little to do with each other. There is no race of Britishness.
  • Furthermore multiculturalism is not some generic all-encomensing 'goodness'. As the world moves closer together it becomes more of a monoculture losing any sense of the distinctive qualities that diversity purportedly holds dear. Already the skylines of the worlds cities are shaped not by the local cultures, traditions, and values of what ever people live in the area but by only the particular decade in which the majority of the skyscrapers were built. There is no such thing as American architecture anymore, no such thing as German literature, French art, or British music. Its all one collective drab. I can travel to almost any country around the world and find a guy driving a Toyota from a suburban townhouse [1] to an office complex where he will sit in a gray cubicle in front of a black IBM laptop sitting next to a beige office phone where he will use Outlook to read his email while drinking Starbucks coffee.
  • Additionally what the UK has shown us over the last few years is that while tolerance is good but over-tolerance can lead to consequences. Allowing extremist to preach their explicitly and violently intolerant messages will eventually lead to indoctrination and radicalization of any group that feels itself as being repressed and that will always lead to militanism and terrorism.
  • Finally If you can't find an appropriate template I encourage you to use a combination of keystrokes to explain what you are trying to say. --Lemmey talk 00:53, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

You both have said things that you shouldn't have. Lemmey I know it is something of an MO for you to say controversial things, and as a fan of sarcasm I can certainly appreciate it. I think what you said on ITN/C was unfortuately over the line and came from a place of insensitivity. Kevin, who died and made you the PC police? I made my comments about Lemmey and Plasma in public, in hopes of diffusing the situation, but didn't see fit to warn them with good reason. They didn't say anything on the actual WP, just a project page, and these kinds of POV discussions are incouraged in order to make sure WP maintains NPOV. I also think your comments came from a place of insensitivity. Both of you should just drop it and seek to move on. -- Grant.Alpaugh 01:35, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hess

Hope you don't mind - I'm hopeful that the end result will be a Good Article....... ChrisTheDude (talk) 06:55, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

My dad was planning on going to The Crabble for the game at which Dover were presented with the Ryman One South trophy, and promised to get a picture of Hess lifting it to go on the article, but in the end he wimped out of going on the grounds it was raining! :-P ChrisTheDude (talk) 07:18, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] West Bromwich Albion F.C.

Fair play to you for you reverting Albion's league back to the Championship - I wholeheartedly agree with you as they have not yet been formally accepted into the Premiership (they have to receive a Premier League share or bond from one of the relegated teams I believe), albeit that it is a formality. I made the same revert twice myself but people are just so keen to jump the gun, which is annoying. I may add a comment, but I don't know if it would make any difference. Cheers. --Jameboy (talk) 20:41, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, you already added a comment. I forgot. Too many edits recently, need a lie down. --Jameboy (talk) 20:43, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Contract Expiration

Hi, yes sorry I didn't read the article properly. It does say they'll be released at the end of their contract. Apologies --Jimbo[online] 19:09, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] NCFC squad

Just realised I didn't notify you of this discussion - it seems better to try to sort this out on the talkpage rather than editwar. iridescent 01:49, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] ITN contribution

Sorry I made a mistake, but one that IQ score was from a recognised test, and human error occurs in even the best of people, sniping is somewhat counter-productive

[edit] Football Manager

Hi Kevin, browsing your user page I see that you are a fellow Football Manager player; random question but have you ever used The Dugout forum? GiantSnowman 01:23, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bostock

I think it's more a case of Palace fans disappointed at his alleged proposed move to Spurs deciding to spread some lies about him. His own article at one point contained this gem:

John is soon due to become one of the most reviled people in football history when he signs for Tottenham Hotspur. He had previously claimed that, as he had grown up as a Palace fan, he wanted to go on to captain the side. This has turned out to be a manipulative lie as he is in fact, as with the vast majority of arrogant young footballers, a moneygrabbing little turd with no integrity whatsoever. A recent survey showed that 100% of Palace fans, and 99% of decent human beings everywhere, hope that "he contracts a particularly formiddable strain of the Ebola virus and dies a slow and painful death".

[edit] Moving Ecuador Province pages

Hi Kevin. Sorry for any trouble I caused in moving the pages.[2] As far as I know, I'm the only one working on WikiProject Ecuador. I revamped the project in hopes that others will take an interest in it. Some of what I've done is listed here. For the most part, I think I've done everything that I can with WikiProject Ecuador and I'll be moving onto a new regional WikiProject. In regards to the name of the provinces, I did post a message at Naming conventions. In any event, feel free to change any of my postings as you see fit. GregManninLB (talk) 15:10, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Kosovo

Don't you think it should be recognized?84.134.61.26 (talk) 20:23, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Serie A top scorer

Check out all the other Serie A top scorers. They have it listed as an individual honour. Maradona also has Argentine league top scorer listed as an honour.

I don't know if there's an award ceremony and a trophy and whatever it is you think is necessary to qualify as an honour. I would be surprised if there isn't some level of official recognition from the Italian football association, though. -- Kvaks (talk) 17:46, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

OK, sorry if I was hasty on this one. I do think though that honours sections ought to be for awards that are tangible or at least have a recognised title: purely statistical achievements can become very contrived (Torres as the highest scoring overseas footballer in a debut season), so I prefer to steer clear of them unless there is a recognised honour. Kevin McE (talk) 19:08, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Mistake

I believe you make a mistake on reverting such as this, he is not vandalism, but takeout the vandalism. --Aleenf1 13:18, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Yes: I went to revert my error, but someone beat me to it. I have apologised to the editor involved. Kevin McE (talk) 13:24, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Mellberg

Are you sure that the contract has not ended? I was under the impression that it had. In any sense, he is not a Villa player anymore. Have you got a source for his contract length, otherwise I think it can be reverted. Regards. Woody (talk) 17:59, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

It is well known, and not generally required that individual cases are evidenced, that footballers' contracts expire on 30th June. There is an embargo on player transfers until 1st July. UEFA consider him to be a Villa player Kevin McE (talk) 18:12, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Drissa Diallo

You was right about Diallo, the MK Dons player. Little intresting situatioun around him, on the MKDFC OS is writen on him profile born in Mauritania, nationality French and in one of the news is writed that he is Guinea international. Nobody wrongs and nobody is right. Btw. Sry, for the bad eng. I'm from Bulgaria. --BGTopDon (talk), (contribs) 18:41, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
