[edit] About removing items from your talk page
Hi, I noticed that you removed the note I left you earlier today, asking you not to remove tags like {{categorize}} from articles unless you had solved the issue that the tag addressed. Although it's not a policy, it is common courtesy not to delete talk page items unless you have at least responded to them. From Wikipedia:Talk_pages#User_talk_pages:
- Actively erasing non-harassing personal messages without replying (if a reply would be appropriate or polite) will probably be interpreted as hostile. In the past, this kind of behavior has been viewed as uncivil...
If you didn't understand something that I wrote, feel free to ask me. But in general, you should leave comments on your talk page (or on a talk page archive) unless they're harassment or personal attacks. | Mr. Darcy talk 01:33, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- No worries! Wikipedia:Wikiquette can take a little getting used to, and as you said, the technical aspects of the Wiki can too. If something else throws you, don't hesitate to put a question on my talk page. Thanks! | Mr. Darcy talk 14:52, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Gallery of Bradford City kits
I fixed the wonky formatting for the first two decades in the Gallery of Bradford City kits article. I'll let you have the 'fun' of fixing the rest. Also: I think that the article should be moved to Gallery of Bradford City A.F.C. kits (or uniforms?). BlankVerse 10:18, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- The last decade is too wide for readers viewing the page at 1024x768. You might divide that section into two rows. Anything over four 'kits' wide may be too wide for people viewing the page at 800x600, so you might also consider dividing those decades.
- Also: I'm not sure how well the gallery page fits into the guidelines at Wikipedia:Galleries, although nobody will probably find the page unless they were specifically looking for the different gallery pages in the Wikipedia namespace like I was. :-) BlankVerse 11:18, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Beth Ditto
I've warned the user like you requested - (incidentally, any editor can warn vandals using the templates available at WP:WARN, the only privilege admins have in that context is the ability to block them.
I checked Beth Ditto and it is already semi-protected from anonymous vandalism, and full protection is never advisable for just vandalism - it has only been vandalised once in the past fortnight anyway, which isn't that much. Hope this helps, cheers. Qwghlm 19:24, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] In Evil Hour
Hi: I removed the "Spanish language tag" from In Evil Hour because I added it to Category:Colombian novels. I.e., as you see from looking at Category:Spanish language novels, all Colombian novels are therefore included as Spanish language novels, and there's no need to add the tag specially to In Evil Hour. --Jbmurray 18:53, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- OK, and if you want the page to focus on the translation, go ahead. (I notice that there's plenty of inconsistency on this point: compare, say, El juguete rabioso, El lugar sin límites, or El Periquillo Sarniento). --Jbmurray 19:41, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Gordon Watson
Thanks for the kind comments - I've taken the article about as far as I can for now. It's been a bit of a labour of love as I always had a lot of time for him when he was at Saints and he was always good for a laugh. The way his career went after the tackle at Bradford was quite sad, but it's good to hear him now on local radio on match days - he can be quite critical of the present day players! And you can understand what he says when compared to Jimmy Case.
After re-reading the article I realised that I was at both his home debut (what a match!) and the Nightmare at Elm Park (Ouch!)
I hope the exams have gone OK - best wishes. Daemonic Kangaroo 19:42, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Robin Huisman de Jong
A tag has been placed on Robin Huisman de Jong, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. slυмgυм [ ←→ ] 20:01, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 90 Minutes for Mandela
I thought I had best explain my edit as you reverted it without any edit summary. I expanded each reference out so that they include a wiki link to BBC News, add in the retrieval date, give each ref a name and so on. That is quite a normal standard format for references and is also easier to use as well as including extra information. I realise that you were adding the references in one way, but expanding the references out is quite standard and more informative. My apologies for butting in while you had the in use tag on, but I did so only because of your bringing it up on the football project and I thought it might help. I hope though that perhaps you might see why I expanded the refs. Thanks and best wishes.♦Tangerines♦·Talk 17:39, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Hi, no problem. Maybe it would be best for me to wait until you have finished your edits and then just make the changes to the refs? I think that given the profile of the event it is notable and if sources can be added (as you are doing) then there should be no reason for it to be proposed for deletion. It is a good article in my opinion you have created. As I said though, I will wait until you have finished editing. Cheers. ♦Tangerines♦·Talk 17:53, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rob Steiner
Hi there. I was amazed that there was no Rob Steiner page on wikipedia and so have just spent a good hour setting Rob Steiner (footballer) up and then re-directing all links to this page rather than Robert Steiner which appears to be about an American football coach. Anyway pretty much as soon as I'd completed everything I realised the Robert Steiner page was one you had created a year or so ago and someone, and it appears Robert Steiner himself, has recently completely taken over.
I don't know if you want to leave the pages as they are or try get the one I've done to the old page. Any thoughts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Peanut4 (talk • contribs) 03:58, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't think it was worthy for inclusion either but thought best to seek your advice. I reckon it might need a look out for in case he recreates his page again. If so probably bring to the attention of Football project. Peanut4 10:15, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] List of Bradford City A.F.C. players
Hi again. I've updated a few of the players on the list - tonight I've added everyone who has played for City since 2000. The only two players who need individual pages set up seem to be Clint Davies (who I've wikilinked) and Andy Lee (who I haven't wikilinked).
I personally have a list of everyone who's played for City since they were formed and I'm going to gradually go through the list backwards or as I find certain players.
Since you set the list up, I wondered if you had any requests as to whether I should just mass input all the data myself. It's my own data though as far as I know 100% correct. But so far I've only added players that can be easily corborated, e.g. soccerbase. Let me know your thoughts. Peanut4 01:08, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm gonna try go through decade by decade. I've found a few from the 90s that are missing which should be easy to add Wikipedia entries for the player. But if you want I can add my data and put it all on the list and go through adding individual entries.
Obviously soccerbase is the gospel though is not always correct. I've just found Darren Moore's entry is wrong so I'm a bit wary about putting on with my own data on spec. Though that said most of it is from Terry Frost's 1988 book and the rest I've added since then. Peanut4 14:57, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Bruce Bannister
Nice work to create this entry. I'm trying to go through the list of top scorers in Bradford City A.F.C. seasons and at least create a stub for all of them. If you can manage to do any more it would be very much appreciated. Peanut4 21:37, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Little context in Diego Penny
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Diego Penny, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Diego Penny is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Diego Penny, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. [edit] List of FA Cup giant-killings
Hello again, as you commented on this during the deletion discussion, I wonder if you could comment on my proposed criteria on the talk page? We now have the ridiculous spectacle of Port Vale and Notts County being described as giants when, no disrespect to their fans, they clearly aren't. As I've already removed the Havant result twice I think it would be breaking the spirit of 3RR to remove again. However, I firmly believe we need tight criteria on such a list to stop it growing exponentially. I strongly believe that a good league one side beating a weak/soon to be relegated side from the premier really can't be described as giant killing. Valenciano (talk) 18:35, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Phew. I've finally managed to complete the list of Bradford City player at List of Bradford City A.F.C. players. I still need to do some work on the list, including a few nationalities and making sure the names are correct names. I've also added a list of players at User:Peanut4/Bradford City to track any new additions which has what ought to be the correct title names for them all. However if you do create any players it might be best to search for them first. Any questions, just shout. Peanut4 (talk) 23:24, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi, don't know if you've noticed but a debate about the Gallery of Bradford City kits has been started at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Gallery of Bradford City kits. [edit] Transwiki to a more inclusive site
Hi Giant Snowman, I see that you've been very active in Wikipedia, especially the football section. - I've not really started it yet, but might get onto later now you've given me that extra little impetus. But if you find anything to add, please feel more than free to chip in. I'll try get it down swiftly, even if not complete, and transposed to the relevant page. Peanut4 (talk) 18:22, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

- Hi again. I've finally completed History of Bradford City A.F.C. and uploaded it from my userpage. Have a gander and add anything you think needs going in. I'd love to add some new photos in there. I'm going to have to try get my camera out - particularly some new ones of Valley Parade! I've also straightaway nominated it for GA status.
- I reckon the history section on the main page needs re-writing and giving full refs. I reckon someone other than myself is best to write it because otherwise it will just be an abridged version of the History page and in the same writing style. Peanut4 (talk) 14:11, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi GiantSnowman. Regarding the article on Axel Orrström, do you have any evidence that he's played in a fully pro league? The article was deleted a little while ago after I prodded it. - You are welcome. Irish football history can be confusing Djln
- I just thought that linking these relevant categories would be far more practical then listing all the players in them. Djln--Djln (talk) 23:17, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, if you want to keep the references but I think keeping the categories linked would be appropriate as they are relevant to the subject. I would recommend you select more notable players then the ones previously listed. Djln--Djln (talk) 23:33, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- If you check articles listed in listed in those categories and Dual Irish international footballers, many have references attached with ref to their dual nationality. Billy Walsh (Irish footballer) who represented four different national teams is one that springs to mind. Alan Kernaghan is another. I am not criticising your efforts. The article is sound, but parts of it could do with inproving. Would you object if I linked the categories but also kept the refs Djln--Djln (talk) 23:45, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:WilderSanLuisRey.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:WilderSanLuisRey.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Crstsk (talk) 00:06, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Released players
I wouldn't remove the players quite yet. I'd wait until after the weekend. We still have one more game on Saturday, and I presume some of those released players will play, because otherwise we won't have enough players. They are still strictly contracted until June. Peanut4 (talk) 18:52, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- No worries. You may be right that they're already released but those who have been kept still haven't actually signed on. I'm not sure we have enough players left and available not to use some of them though. We shall see, eh? Peanut4 (talk) 21:05, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] New away kit
Hi. I seem to remember you're pretty clued up about how to do the kits. Feel free to get cracking away with it straightaway. We might even use it this weekend, but it will be certainly relevant to be updated after the weekend again. Peanut4 (talk) 18:10, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- Looks great. Only other suggestion would be to try put some of the claret & amber flashes down the side but I think the kits are only supposed to be a simplified version to represent the kit, so don't think it's essential, nor do I have a clue how to do it. Peanut4 (talk) 18:45, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Daniel Alves brother
- Alexandre Alves da Silva started his career at Sao Paulo and possibly born in Paraná
- Alexandro Alves do Nascimento born in Bahia state,(same as Daniel and at nearby ,unicipality) started his career at Bahia and then Sao Paulo, but differ surname (Alves-Silva vs Alves-Nascimento)
- Daniel Alves started his career at Bahia
But neither one have a good reliable source to support. Possibly cousin? Matthew_hk tc 13:03, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
- Both Daniel Alves and Alexandre Alves da Silva have the same name (Alves-Silva), so they are probably brothers (I know for a fact that Daniel Alves DOES have a brother) and Alexandro Alves do Nascimento COULD be a cousin, but I'm not 100% positive. Regards, GiantSnowman 13:16, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
-
- But the fact is, Alves-Sliva is a common surname. Does Daniel have a notable footballer, everything need source. Matthew_hk tc 13:19, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
There are five Alexandre Alves da Silva born 1985, 1986, 1978 1981 and 1980. Matthew_hk tc 13:20, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
- Very true, everything does need sourcing, so in that case remove ANY speculation about family members from all articles concerned. Regards, GiantSnowman 13:24, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Jem Bayliss - date of birth
Hi, I was just wondering what source you used to obtain Jem Bayliss' date of birth? It says 1 August 1863, but I have two Tony Matthews books that say he was born on 14 January 1863. Thanks. --Jameboy (talk) 15:57, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'm guessing it was Englandstats.com. I'll see what other sources are out there and maybe add a footnote about this. Cheers. --Jameboy (talk) 16:01, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] England players
Hi - I note that you have been adding articles for the missing England players. Can I remind you to add them to Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/New articles so that other editors can pick up on them. As and when I get time I will expand them all from my reference books, as with Andrew Amos. Cheers and many thanks. --Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 15:35, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Barnstar
The Running Man Barnstar | ||
I'm not sure if this is within my gift, but I present you with this barnstar in recognition of your fine contributions to football-related articles. Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 18:25, 6 May 2008 (UTC) |
[edit] WikiCookie
Just stopping by with wikicookies for those editors who started new articles today. --Rosiestep (talk) 07:27, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Jonathan McLaughlin
Now then. Just to let you know that if we play Jonathan McLaughlin then an article already exists, but has been deleted, for him. So rather than create it, I'd suggest we ask for him to be undeleted, because there will be some info about his days at Harrogate Railway and Harrogate Town in there. Obviously if some other City fan decides to create him, so be it, but he currently doesn't meet WP:N. Peanut4 (talk) 22:55, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] FM Dugout
I'm aware of the Dugout, but I don't visit it. I might have looked there a couple of times, can't really remember. I participated occasionally in a ChampMan newsgroup a few years ago. Not so keen on FM2008: my time-waster of choice these days is Pro Cycling Manager. Kevin McE (talk) 08:57, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] John Reames
I was going to email you about the John Reames issue, but you don't have "e-mail this user" set up. I have a couple of ideas which might or might not work depending upon the wishes of the relative. One is that a OTRS request might handle it, though I am not 100% sure whether it fits into OTRS scope. Anyhow, mail me for details. Oldelpaso (talk) 17:44, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, I've just been reading up on a few of the relevant policies, and I think a clear explanation on the talk page would suffice with no further action required. Wikipedia:Contact us/Article problem/Factual error (from subject) seems to advise this, and the autobiography guideline states: Similarly, you should feel free to correct mistaken or out-of-date facts about yourself, such as marital status, current employer, place of birth, and so on. (Note it on the talk page.) In this case his date of birth is unlikely to cause controversy, so it would be more pragmatic to just go ahead and change it. This could be coupled with an OTRS request if the relative wishes, but seeing as it was Reames' funeral today it would be more tactful to avoid unnecessary hassle. [edit] Racism in association football
Hi GiantSnowman, thanks for the message.
I came up with a suggestion on the talk page there, unfortunately user Mordoor did not even bother himself to comment on my proposal or to produce his/her own one. The edit war is childlish, I admit, but I do not like that kind of attitude, when the problem has not been resolved on the talk and yet he has started to change the article on his own, deleting sourced information. Greetings. Tymek (talk) 12:59, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
-
- Tymek, you've been asked on talk page to present reliable sources for you statemements multiple times. But you've chosen to ignore these requests, and started a torrent of personal attacks and incivility instead. Unfortunarely this discussion does not belong to WP:FOOTBALL any more. It is rather in scope of WP:RS and WP:CIV now. Cheers. M0RD00R (talk) 14:19, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] City squad
Just to let you know, I've deleted the players who have been released. It seems the official website has updated the squad. See here. Peanut4 (talk) 12:18, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
