MMA career
The Ultimate Fighter 3
Starnes fought early in the series, defeating Mike Stine by referee stoppage in the first round. However, in the semifinals he lost to Kendall Grove in the third round by verbal submission (dislocated rib).
Neither of these fights count towards his professional record as they were considered exhibition matches by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
He fought against Alan Belcher at UFC 77, where he lost via TKO (cut) in the second round.
He also fought against Nate Quarry at UFC 83, where he lost by unanimous decision. One judge gave him an unusually wide 30-24 loss for the fight because he was persistently backing away from his opponent. Dana White, President of the UFC, was quoted after the fight as saying: "He just doesn’t belong in the UFC and after his performance the other night, he should consider a new line of work." He was released from the UFC two days following the event. [1] Kalib stated afterwards that his contract with the UFC was oppressive as well as complained about his pay. [2]
