[edit] Welcome!

Hi fellow Wikipedian, and a warm welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you have enjoyed editing as much as I did so far and decide to stay. Unfamiliar with the features and workings of Wikipedia? Don't fret! Be Bold! Here's some good links for your reference and that'll get you started in no time!

Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some open tasks that you may want to help out :

  • RC Patrol - Keeping a lookout for vandalism.
  • Cleanup - Help make unreadable articles readable.
  • Requests - Wanted on WP, but hasn't been created.
  • Merge - Combining duplicate articles into one.
  • Wikiprojects - So many to join, so many to choose from...Take your pick!

Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: (~~~~). This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! =)- Mailer Diablo 09:05, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Succession Boxes

Hi Joey, Nice work adding succession boxes for the Miss Universe titleholders. Just a note - although the titleholders effectively reign over two years, they are known simply by the year in which they are crowned. E.g. Brook Mahealani Lee is not, as you have put, Miss Universe 1997-1998 but simply 1997. Not a big deal though, and easily fixable :) CarlyPalmer 07:53, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

I would have thought that after this polite nudge you would have stopped putting in the rest of the boxes with the incorrect dates. Now I feel I have to go back and correct them all. When other wikipedians make helpful suggestions, it is generally polite to at least acknowledge, if not act on them. CarlyPalmer 21:58, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

And if you're going to add a "Miss Universe winners" category for each girl, you should also take away the "Miss Universe contestants" category. Just another helpful hint. CarlyPalmer 08:05, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

(ps you'll see I've reverted all the dates) CarlyPalmer 08:05, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

I just noticed you're actually adding "Miss Universe Contestants" - you don't need both! Please start looking at and taking notice of your talk page :) CarlyPalmer 08:12, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

The Barnstar of High Culture
For your tireless work on film succession boxes Geneb1955Talk/CVU 06:53, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

Wow thanks! Considering that I had lots of trouble with succession boxes earlier, this is really a positive news. Something that will motivate me to do my best in adding and editing not just succession boxes, but articles in general. Thanks again!Joey80 03:11, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Using talk pages

Hi Joey80... I see Carly has left you several messages in a row raising concerns. It's a good idea to work together cooperatively with other editors... From looking at your history I'm not seeing much use of talk pages in the last few edits of yours. So you may want to consider answering Carly here, or discussing the topic on some appropriate page such as the Talk:Miss Universe page itself. Also don't forget to sign your posts with ~~~~ Hope that helps and happy editing! ++Lar: t/c 09:05, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Maria Sharapova

I see you removed the <!-- --> that commented out a questionably non-NPOV section in the Maria Sharapova article. I commented it out a few months ago because it was not NPOV and a match report; I recommended the information be integrated in a section discussing Sharapova's 2005 results. Since you made the section visible again, I removed it and placed it in the article's talk page. You might want to participate in discussing how it can be included in the main article. Thanks. --Noelle De Guzman (talk) 10:27, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jane Fonda

Please explain why you moved the box on Jane Fonda's Academy Award predecessors and successors to the bottom of the article. It seemed much more appropriately placed where it was before, below the list of Fonda's awards and nominations. If you cannot explain your reason for doing so, I may have to revert your edits. Andrea Parton 02:53, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Hello please do not move succession boxes to below the links. Thankyou Arniep 14:03, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
Please enter discussion on this placement issue before making more changes. Doc 21:42, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
Multiple changes to other pages as well as the Jane Fonda page without discussion here or on individual pages has required many users to rv to customary wiki placement. Please discuss here before making more changes. Doc 23:48, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for finally getting back with me. Communication is the key here and it is a good idea to always check your new messages before starting other work. Unfortunately this has caused a good bit of confusion and work for several members including you. Your good work is appreciated, but before doing large numbers of changes, it is a good idea to get some consensus first before work is undone and needs to be redone. This can only happen with communication. Doc 14:22, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks again for your hard work on these succession boxes and I do apologize for eliminating part of your contribution, which I overlooked, with the reverts that I made. I admit that I was upset in seeing that several had attempted to communicate and you were unresponsive, but continued moving things. Your work here is appreciated and I am glad that channels of communication are now open. Doc 13:54, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jessica Tandy edit

Please refrain from removing content from Wikipedia, as you did to Jessica Tandy. It is considered vandalism. If you want to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. If you believe this edit should not have been reverted, please contact me. Geneb1955Talk/CVU 03:55, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Copied from User_talk:Geneb1955 - For your information, I didn't remove any content from the article. I actually added the film title from which she won her Oscar in the succession box. But with you reverting it back, you removed it. So please refrain from removing content from Wikipedia, it is vandalism.Joey80 08:58, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
My bad, I see that your original edit that was reverted had been placed in the wrong section and you where just correcting it. It was not my intent, in any way, to maliciously revert you. I will log it in my revert errors. Happy editing! --Geneb1955Talk/CVU 10:22, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Miss Universe edits

Hi Joey -- congrats for getting through and removing all the "Miss Universe contestants" boxes... that would have taken ages! One thing though (and by the looks of it it seems others have had this problem) - the succession boxes need to go after all the text and before the categories etc (i.e. after the external links, not before them as you have edited). Keep up the good work though :) PageantUpdater 09:43, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

And the other thing is there seems to be two categories Category:Miss Universe and Category:Miss Universe winners doing the same job - one of them needs to be removed and deleted. I don't have time to figure it out now but will sort it out later (just keeping you in the loop) PageantUpdater 09:45, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi Joey -- about the placement of the succession boxes... it depends on what the "succession" is. If it's more specific, like a specfic award, it generally goes after the specific section describing what the succession is. If it's something more general, put it after the "external links". Its an aesthetic choice as well, as they look somewhat strange on these small bios to have the succession box anywhere but after the "external links". Hope this helps :) PageantUpdater 21:07, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for adding this last part because not all succession boxes do belong after the "external links" as has been discussed previously. Doc 13:55, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Verner von Heidenstam

Hi, Joey. Sorry, but I've reverted your formatting at Verner von Heidenstam, since it introduced erroneous capitalization (please see the Manual of style, specifically this principle). I'm not sure I did right to revert the whole edit, though; if you're sure about the changes to the succession box, could you please go back and restore them? Bishonen | talk 08:40, 4 May 2006 (UTC).

Ok, no problem!Joey80 02:40, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Knut Hamsun

Reverted your changes to Knut Hamsun article. To understand why, please see Manual of style section on headings. Yes, this is not what you'd expect in American English, but it is the Wiki standard. Williamborg 04:18, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Appreciate your transition to the Wiki style & like the job you do cleaning up articles. Go get 'em! Thanks - Williamborg 12:46, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MUO Templates

Hi Joey,

From your suggestion I created a MUO template for each titleholder (see Chelsea Cooley) as an example. Not exactly sure if this was the sort of thing you were talking about but they add value anyway :)

PageantUpdater 07:41, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] {{Nobel Prize in Literature Laureate}}

Hey, just wanted say that you did an excellent job on your {{Nobel Prize in Literature Laureate}} new template. Your future as a Wikipedian looks very bright. And please keep up the good work! Saravask 08:19, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Yes, well done. Skinnyweed 07:49, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Templates

I think they are too long and duplicate information that already exists. Older people have trouble with text at 90% size - and the text in these, which is small to keep the length down, is going to be illegible to some. I put them on tfd to get some discussion on whether the community thinks that they are useful or not. You should mkae your opionion known there.--nixie 04:43, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bulgaria World Heritage Sites template

Hi, it would be completely allright to do so, including to move it to a suitable name. By the way, I noticed there's some bug with the existing templates in Mozilla Firefox — the flag seems to show up as if it's under the blueish line where the title is. It seems to look OK in Internet Explorer, though. → Тодор Божинов / Todor Bozhinov 08:56, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Excellent template that you added to Bryggen. Norwegian flag is also clipped when viewed through Firefox browser.
And part of the template is hidden while other parts overlay the pictures on Geirangerfjord. Thanks - Williamborg 13:25, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Appreciate your feedback. I'll play with it and see what I can do for both browsers.
Is your blank User page an intentional commentary or just modesty?
thanks - Williamborg 02:42, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
Well, I just learned how to use the my talk function (and that it even exists!) about a month ago. So haven't really taken the time to fix my user page. Joey80 02:46, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
Excellent contribution with your templates! Played with them a little following up on your comment on my page. You do nice work! Cheers - Williamborg 01:54, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] World Heritage Sites template

Well, I'm not really sure about how the template looks in Firefox because I use Explorer. So I'm not really able to understand the comment about it. As for the picture, well, I am having trouble placing the template UNDER or AFTER the picture rather than BESIDE it. I tried using "
" but it depends on the setting of the picture, and also may or may not work (depending on the setting of pages). Like I tried formating a certain page in such a way that the template will be below the picture and it took me about 10 minutes of trial and error (using the show preview) just to make sure that the template is below the picture. So I'm hoping that other editors will be able to take care of that... Joey80 02:40, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for the templates. They prompted me to revise layout of many WHS pages and start quite a few as well. In order to fix image jams, you may type <br clear=all> before the template, like this. Cheers, Ghirla -трёп- 15:02, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pageants wikiproject?

Hi Joey,

I've been doing some thinking about contributions to beauty pageant articles etc and a few other things and I was thinking of maybe starting a Pageant Wikiproject to try and write better, more complete, and more consistent articles related to beauty pageants on Wikipedia. I know you've obviously shown some interest in pageants, so I was wondering whether you might be interested in this (currently completely hypothetical) idea? If you can think of anyone else who might be interested feel free to put the message out :)

-- PageantUpdater 01:47, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

and I've just added this to the list of proposed projects: Wikipedia:Wikiproject/List of proposed projects (at the bottom) -- PageantUpdater 03:07, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Court Specialists

I appreciate your taking notice of my articles. While I already have listed some female players, I will continue to list more. Thank you for your suggestion. Stanley011 21:53, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Template:AcademyAwardBestPicture_1961-1980

On my computer, (WIN XP SP2, Ff 1.5.0.3 and IE6, 1680x1050), this template looks flawed. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like on my computer. All that empty space is not desirable. If I edit the template to remove all the <br>s, then I think it looks a lot better. However, I'm not too experienced with templates, so I don't know what effect it will have. Here's how it looks after I remove all the <br>s. (Both images hosted on imageshack) Since you created it, can you advise me as to what would happen if I go through with this? Copysan 08:04, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

So should we fix it? If it looks the same in IE, then I say we should go ahead. I see your point about not splitting the titles and years, but I think aesthetics is better served without the <br>s because the splitting will occur only on certain screens (depending on the resolution, which determines width, which determines where the line "breaks"). However, i see how the blank space will only occur on certain screens due to the IE and Mozilla difference in rendering and also due to screen size. The differences are probably not as evident on a narrower resolution than my widescreen. In addition, at the moment, if you narrow your window enough, you can get the automatic line breaks to occur as well as the forced <br>s. This will show some splitting.
I propose we remove the <br>s becuase white space is more disturbing than split years, to me at least. Copysan 10:17, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
I don't know much about HTML, so I don't know the effects of <br clear=all>. I suspect you mean replace all the <br>s with <br clear=all>s. When I did that, the effect looks to be same as the original template. Copysan 07:49, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Go ahead and post it to the help board, you can use my screenshots in your posting as well. Copysan 08:10, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
The version now looks great on Ff. What do you think? Copysan 20:28, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Flags at Miss Universe winners list page

Hello! If we're going for the accuracy of the flags used during the time the Miss Universe won, some changed might be made on the flags displayed on this article. For example, the US flag before 1959 does not contain 50 stars, Venezuela just changed its flag design this year, Puerto Rico made a change on the hue/shade(?) of blue it uses on its flag in 2001, etc. For more info on the appropriate flag, you can check out the ones I used in the Big Four pageants article. Thanks! Joey80 06:24, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

Hi Joey, I actually did fix some of the flags (see South Africa) but didn't realise there were others that needed changing so thanks for bringing it to my attention :) It was actually the Big Four pageants article that gave me the idea to add flags, so I don't know why I didn't think to use it to figure out the flag situation :P Will fix now :) -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 06:28, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Justine Henin-Hardenne article

I've been searching for a good way to explain how her size and playing style are related to injuries and playing schedule, but I can't find any articles about it. So far I've only found one sentence: "Performing as far above the normal limits of her size as she does seems to take its toll on Justine's body." I've actually found more against this argument: "And this size matters issue? Amanda Coetzer was half the size of Henin-Hardenne and she couldn’t get enough of the game. Sure, everybody is different. But tennis has always featured small players, and I can’t remember any of them using their lack of stature to avoid playing." So should this possibly not be included at all, or should both sides be presented, or what? Also, good work cleaning up the article so far. This is the first article I've marked for cleanup, and I was happy to see it improve so much so quickly. --Muéro 05:42, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] big four pageants maps

Nice work on the pageants maps! Just thought they might be better on the individual articles, and leave the map of the big four on Big Four pageants? --Astrokey44 06:58, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

I can add a legend to the maps if you like. Would you mind if I decreased the saturation in the colours also?, the colours seem fairly bright. I could try marking the host city although Japan would look fairly crowded for the miss international if i understand the list correctly. its best to mark the uk and us countries I think, although you could use Image:BlankMap-World-USA-Can-UK-Aus.PNG if you needed to mark the US states or some of the other subdivisions. Sometimes its better to leave out the overseas territories as they complicate matters, unless its important to what youre trying to show. I've added the wikiproject to my watchlist, but I dont really know about this to join at the moment --Astrokey44 13:21, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
ok Ive added a key to 3 of the beauty maps, hope thats ok. by the way i noticed that User:KenL had made Image:Miss Universe Map.jpg, where they had included Russia in it. from the table it said that russia was "dethroned" in 2002. I wasnt sure if it was right to include it because of this? Since that image was jpg file which is bad to use for maps I updated your png file with russia included but I thought I should ask about it --Astrokey44 13:12, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

the miss universe map does look better using the new colour scheme. about the olympic maps, i thought i had gotten those territories and many have a thin line which joins them that indicates it is part of them - is there a specific one you mean? there is a couple showing greece before WWI where I think crete was not technically part of Greece so it wasnt shaded. --Astrokey44 10:39, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

ah thanks for pointing that out. I have updated the images --Astrokey44 11:33, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hello

Joey80: I wanted to thank you for the very nice template you made for the South Korean World Heritage Sites. I have recently written articles for all of the tentative world heritage sites in South Korea and I made a new template which I based off of your example because I have no idea on how to make one myself. Please let me know if that is not okay with you and I will try to make my own template. Regardless, thanks for your hard work! Tortfeasor 07:32, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Miss Universe

Nice work Joey! I think that the title of "List of Miss Universe editions main information" might need tweaking (perhaps something to bring up on the Wikiproject page) but apart from that I'm impressed... particularly by the template :) I've moved a couple of things on it around (changed the order so the titleholders list is 2nd as it is more important) and also changed it so there is a link to the Miss Universe page itself, but apart from that its all great :) -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 21:04, 20 August 2006 (UTC) Egads not sure what happened there... [edit] List of Miss World winners

That's OK. I was just trying to point out that at the moment, the article is a direct replication of info that is already in an existing article. I think the seperate list is a good idea and I suggest that when it's ready, the table in the original Miss World article be reduced and a linkl be made to your new article . [edit] Miss World 1985

Is there any good reason why you didn't follow the style as in Miss World 2005 when you created Miss World 1985? It's not really an encyclopedic presentation IMMHO, it uses all caps for names of countries, and it lacks links galore. Furthermore, as Misses Iceland, United Kingdom and USA were the top three, then the next four named should not be called the finalists (the top seven were finalists) and the next eight should not be called the semi finalists (the top 15 were semi-finalists). If I haven't made myself clear, think of it as the winner was chosen from the finalists. Moriori 00:43, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Maps

Joey... LOVE your maps but is there any chance you can put "W" "1RU" "2RU" "3RU" "4RU" instead of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5? Its just kinda confuzzling!

[edit] About Miss Universe Trivia things

I have and idea for the Miss Universe pages, a trivia-like one. I copy it from my first message to PageantUpdater. Here it is:

Good day again! May I ask if I may make a kind of tabulation (including the percentage) of the country's performance in the Miss Universe specifically the countries that make in the top ten, then six/five and then the runner's up just like what you did in the Miss Universe page (here what I mean -> click me!).
I also want to make some kind of trivia for those countries on when they sent their first delegates, when they didnt sent their delegates and so on, all in my own work. What can you say?
If both above is possible, where can I put it? Hedwig0407 (talk · contribs) August 27, 2006

[edit] Naming conventions

Hi Joey! I just thought I'd copy you part of a message I left for Hedwig a couple of days ago... since you've also been active in editing the new Miss Universe articles I figure I should point it out to you to so if you see some horribly long names you may be able to cut them...

anyway I would just like to ask that you keep an eye on using "excess" names... some of the delegates in the articles have 4+ names and in most cases this should be cut back to two or three... whatever the most common usage is. In some cases it is difficult to sort out but I find Pageant Almanac a good source for this (use their "Parade of Nations" page).

The wikipedia guideline on this is Wikipedia:Naming conventions (common names) so you might want to check that out! I've already started culling names... see this as an example.

Anyway thanks for sorting out the maps... they look fantastic now! -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 08:06, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Good day! I know you're kind of annoyed with me because of the flags and the names thing. Im completing the Miss Universe pages, so I just copying-pasting the names, I still dont have time changing the names from long to common. Just give me time to finish completing all the Miss Universe pages then after that I will correct those names. So don't bother now the Miss Universe pages about the long names, leave to me, just give me time Okay? Thanks! Hedwig0407 (talk · contribs) August 27, 2006

Good day again! I just want you to know that I will stop for a while completing the Miss Universe pages (I stop at the year 1982) because I am going to correct the names which has 4+ names. Thank you! :) Hedwig0407 (talk · contribs) August 29, 2006

[edit] List of World Heritage Sites in danger - MedCab Case

There has been no edit since 4 March. Is that compromise acceptable to everyone? --Bduke 06:31, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for you reply on my talk page. I have put down that I will try to mediate this dispute. I will contact the other editor concerned and then let you know on Talk:List of World Heritage Sites in danger which seems the best place to do this. I hope I can help. It may take a little while before I can move on this. --Bduke 03:00, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. Yes, I had noticed the revert. I'll leave it a day or so and then formally close the mediation case. --Bduke 21:26, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] World Heritage template

Hi! I created a template for World Heritage Sites: {{Infobox World Heritage Site}}. Since many protected areas tend to overlap with World Heritage-designated places, will it be possible to re-format the template in the same way as the Level 1, 2, 3... style? In that way, we can prevent too many infoboxes showing repetitive infos. In terms of its relationship with the IUCN protected areas, I found a link: http://whc.unesco.org/cairns/iucn-priorities.pdf (refer to page 15 of this publication/page 17 of the pdf file). Hope you can help in improving the template and making it more relevant to readers. Thanks. Joey80 13:34, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Passing on the request from my talk page to more knowledgeable in wiki software etc. Atulsnischal 13:45, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi Joey I passed on your request to the discussion pages of Wikipedia:WikiProject Protected areas of India & Wikipedia:WikiProject India, I am myself not good with the tech stuff in computer programming language etc.. Thanks Atulsnischal 14:52, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi Joey. Have you discussed the template with the editors of the pages you put them on first? On some of the pages I have come across, they ruin the page as the template is so huge. Sometimes it wipes out the beauty of the article carefully crafted by the editors over time. And it messes up the page's formatting. I use Firefox. It does not look good. Just my opinion. Sincerely, Mattisse 11:39, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Megadiverse Countries.PNG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Megadiverse Countries.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. [edit] Miss World National Pageants External Links

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Miss World National Pageants External Links, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but yours may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. [edit] Image:Megadiverse Countries.PNG

Hi. When you uploaded Image:Megadiverse Countries.PNG, you did not specify complete source and copyright information. Another user subsequently tagged it with {{GFDL-presumed}} and, for some time, it has existed on Wikipedia under the assumption that you created the image and you agreed to license it under the GFDL. This assumption, however well-meaning, is not legally sufficient and the tag is being phased out. Images using it are being deleted.

This image has been tagged for deletion and will be deleted in one week if adequate copyright information is not provided.

If you, personally, are the author of this content, meaning that you took the photograph yourself or you created the chart yourself (and it does not use any clipart that you did not create), please retag the image with a free image copyright tag that correctly describes your licensing intentions, usually {{GFDL-self}} or {{PD-self}}. Please also make sure if you have not already done so that you write a good description of what the image depicts, when you took the photo, and other important details. This will allow Wikipedia to continue using the image.

If you did not create the image or if it is derived from the copyrighted works of others, please keep in mind that most images on the internet are copyrighted and are not suitable for use on Wikipedia. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others and does not use images unless we know that they have been freely licensed. Any creative work is automatically copyrighted, even if it lacks a copyright notice. Unless the copyright holder has specifically disclaimed their rights to the image and released it under the GFDL or another compatible license, we cannot use it. If you did not create the image, and cannot make the image compliant with Wikipedia:Non-free content, simply do nothing and it will be deleted in a week. All other non-free images must follow these rules.

Please feel free to contact me on my talk page or leave a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions with any questions you may have. Thank you. Aksibot 07:01, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Nobel Prize templates

I noticed that you created (all of?) the Noble Prize templates. First of all, thanks for doing it since I can imagine how much time it took to create them. I was just wondering if you had any special reason for splitting up the years into 25 year chunks? And if you had tried putting it all into one chunk or splitting into 10 year chunks to see how they looked? Just curious. –panda 00:14, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] We need to edit the picture of Big Five pageants

I've have just finished to make new the Big Five pageants (former Big Four pageants) by add all things of Miss Tourism Queen International. We only need to edit again the picture of this article from 4 to 5.Detail here:

  • India: 3/5
  • Philippines: 3/5
  • Greece: 4/5
  • Russia: 2/5

I think we should use Blue as the new colour for countries which have only 1 crown as Japan, Thailand, etc...and that means have no country with 5/5 crowns!

Thank so much!I hope to receive your reply as soon as possible! Best wishes to you!

[edit] 2005 Tennis Masters Cup surface

Main article: roger federer

Hullo,

"Ok, I kept on pointing this out way back then, and even to some editors now: the surface used for that event was Indoor Carpet, not Indoor Hard. If you don't believe me, try accessing the info from the ATP website. Probably, the very evidence that speak for itself is the fact that despite that loss in the final, his record hardcourt winning streak then was still alive (i.e. it got snapped only in 2006 Dubai tournament). In any case, I edited this fact then, but editors kept on reverting, insisting that it was played on Hardcourt. [...] [...] Joey80 (talk) 09:52, 17 November 2007 (UTC)"

I agree with you and saw that you modified the surface on the main page => runner-up in 2005 master final. However "this might affect the hardcourt and carpet win-loss record not just of Federer, but of other participants, for the year." What about this aspect ?? Did you modify the records too or has it still to be done ??

"The same goes for the 2007 WTA Tour Championships, when almost all player wikipedia articles pointed out that the surface was Indoor Hard, when as per the WTA website, it was Indoor Carpet. Of course, I wouldn't mind editing this, but since I had a bad experience with the 2005 Tennis Masters Cup, I'll just inform other editors till we reach a consensus."

What about this aspect ? Is the problem still present ? ;)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Miss globe.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Miss globe.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:22, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Check "2005 Tennis Masters Cup surface" from the Talk:Roger Federer page

I updated your disagreement on the page. Take a look. Have a good Monday ~ GoldenGoose100 (talk) 11:50, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

I also saw from the archive that you mentioned how some places seem to list the surface as hard. I guess the tournament administrators and the ATP list carpet when they think it qualifies as carpet, and hard when they think it qualifies as hard. The 2008 Australian Open this year was played on the new Plexicushion surface, but I think that still qualifies as hard. I don't even know what carpet surface is really, though I wonder if it's furry like one (wouldn't that be slippery?) Anyway, take care, let me know what you think. ~ GoldenGoose100 (talk) 12:03, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
