The term South Asia usually refers to the political entities of the Sub-Himalayan region - namely Republic of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and the island nations of Sri Lanka and the Maldives - which is also known as the Indian subcontinent, but it some times is considered to include the neighbouring Afghanistan and Tibet (now part of China).
