Harmondsworth is a place in the London Borough of Hillingdon nearby to London Heathrow Airport.
Harmondsworth is also the name of a Kalyx run detention centre/refugee camp there for deportations from the airport and one nextdoor to that called Colnbrook.
If BAA are granted permission to build a third runway at Heathrow, much of Harmondsworth will have to be demolished.
British Airways' headquarters are located here at their Waterside building set in a large public park on the outskirts of Heathrow Airport.
For many years the publisher, Penguin Books, was based here.
Its name came from Anglo-Saxon Heremōdes worþ = "Heremōd's enclosure".
