[edit] Re: Titanic
Apologies if I reverted constructive edits. When I see massive chunks of text being deleted without an explanation, it is usually not a good sign. Although it is not necessary, filling in the edit summary greatly helps contributors understanding what you are doing. Thanks! Spellcast 20:26, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- If you go on RMS Titanic and click on 'History' at the top of the page, you'll see that another editor (John) has changed some of your edits. I would recommend either discussing with him or on Talk:RMS Titanic. Spellcast 20:40, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi Hadseys, could you explain why you removed that material from The Holocaust? And why you did not include any edit summaries for the removal? Thanks, Crum375 18:14, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Simpsons Movie FAC
Hi. I see that you have nominated The Simpsons Movie for FA status. Now, usuallu when a film is still in the cinema, and hasn't yet been released on DVD it cannot become a FA as it is not comprehensive enough. So, although the article in question is good, it is not FA ready yet. It is currently a GAC and as such can not be a FA at the same time. So, although it should make FA in the future, I ask you that at this time you request the FAC be closed as it will almost certainly fail this time out. Thank you. Gran2 18:24, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Homer Simpson FAC
I am sure you probably didn't know, but nominators should not cross out critique items they think they have completed (using <strike/> or <del/>). If you want to indicate that you feel you have completed something, you should either leave a note stating this, or use the {{done}} template, which leaves a check mark symbol. I am looking through the article again, and hope to be able to change my vote.--Esprit15d 13:08, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Watch out!
Hey, just a couple things to note when promoting a FP. I've never done it myself, and I'm no expert but: 1) remember to put a FP tag on the picture. Type in {{FPC|''Title of the FPC subpage here''}}. That way, you get the FP box and it is added to the FP category. 2) When doing a copy and paste (as you appear to have done on MER-C's user talk, double check. In this case, you for got to change the signature, so it appears MER-C left himself that note. And 3) Add the picture to the FP page as a thumbnail, add it to a gallery, and update the total. I've taken the liberty of doing all of those, so no need to worry. Thanks for helping with FP! thegreen J Are you green? 00:45, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Expo 67
Hi there:
Thank you for your interest in the Expo 67 article. I think I added a caption to the correct image that needed it, per your request. Please inform me if I did or didn't. I am assuming it is the poster of a mother and child enjoying the fair, designed by Marsil Caron Barkes & Associates.--Abebenjoe 02:54, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your note
Please continue this on the article talk page. The image is not so tiny -- it can be any size, if needed. And the issue is not size, but content -- a table with figures is less visually appealing and less compelling as an introduction to a reader, than an image that symbolizes the event being described. Crum375 00:31, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
- Please do this in the article talk page, not on user talk pages. And try to gain a consensus for the table in the first place, and if you do, that it should be in the introduction. Crum375 00:51, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:742 evergreen terrace.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:742 evergreen terrace.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:34, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your recent edits
Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 02:44, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] POTD scheduling
Hi and thanks for your efforts in helping schedule the Picture of the day. Just so you know, images are scheduled for POTD roughly in the order they are promoted, so the image you selected for November 10, 2007 (Image:Elizabeth II greets NASA GSFC employees, May 8, 2007_edit.jpg) isn't ready to go for a while. I realize that I haven't been putting them exactly in FIFO order, but the semi-random scheduling has been so that we don't have too many of the same type running too close to each other. Regardless, there are 44 other pictures that should run ahead of the queen, so I would expect this to show up in the middle of December somewhere. Regards, howcheng {chat} 00:02, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] scrollbox
I saw your edits at Campbell's Soup Cans and Chicago Board of Trade Building and although I prefer a scroll box, I have been told that they are against policy for ref sections. Has there been a new policy directive on this issue.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 21:32, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- I can't find the original conversation, but you might want to seek the conversants at Talk:List_of_Chicago_Landmarks#Scrolling_refs on the issue. If you want to pursue debate, I support your edit and would lend support in a debate. I was without support when I tried to make the edit before at Barack Obama, Hilary Clinton and List_of_Chicago_Landmarks among others.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 21:54, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- If you can't get any more info from the other conversants, try putting the box on a heavily edited page like Barack Obama or Hilary Clinton and see if the policy has changed. The people there will fight with you and teach you the policy if it still exists. Barack is quite heavily edited. It is not the best way to get the answer, but it is either that or go through all my edits from about March to August to figure it out where the discussion was.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 15:17, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Templates
On chronic fatigue syndrome you have now twice added the {{shorten}} template. There are two problems. Firstly, the template is evidently intended for sections rather than articles (some use {{toolong}} for articles). But secondly, you have not left a message on the talkpage substantiating your tag. Therefore, you have also not seen discussions on the various efforts to shorten the article already ongoing, and you have not been able to justify why the article should be shorter. The CFS article has a lot of tightly interwoven content that cannot easily be divided into subarticles. Please let me know what you think. JFW | T@lk 17:39, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Your vote on the Battle of Red Cliffs
Might I query you about your vote? As an editor who has contributed a decent amount of information to the article in question, I would like to know if you objected because you believe the article has too few references or because you do not support the Harvard referencing style. I'm simply attempting to clarify your position in order to remedy any perceived problems. Gamer Junkie 00:20, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Opera (Internet suite)
Hello, and thanks for commenting at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Opera (Internet suite). I read your suggestions and made improvements to the article, but I'm not sure what you're looking for in the "Standards support" and "Smartphones and PDAs" sections.
- "Standards support" is a lot like Mozilla Firefox#Standards support, with a list of major standards supported and a note about the much-discussed Acid2 test. Is there anything else you'd like to see included here?
- I'm not sure what else to say, if anything, in the "Smartphones and PDAs" section. Opera Mobile is simply Opera for mobile phones. There isn't anything particularly special about it like there is with the other editions of Opera.
So, could you show me what kind of content you'd like to see added to the article? I'd really like to improve the article so that it meets your desired standard of quality. —Remember the dot (talk) 04:53, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello, Hadseys. Read the Gabrielle Solis talk page and you'll get an understanding about why the name of an article about a fictional character or a real person should not be moved from their common name. Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Brent Everett, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. This is especially important when dealing with biographies of living people, but applies to all Wikipedia articles. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are already familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add your original reference to the article. Thank you. Jauerback (talk) 02:39, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Missing image Image:Reichsadler.svg
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Reichsadler.svg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Reichsadler.svg is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Reichsadler.svg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit] Harrow School
Hi Hadseys; it took a few steps, but I've now gotten all the pieces of your FAC submission in the right places (see my contribs). The previous FAC was incorrectly archived, not updated on the talk page, and not filed in archives. I corrected all that. You had also overwritten the old peer review; I reverted that and restored the peer review. Articles cannot be at FAC and PR at the same time (see the instructions at both WP:PR and WP:FAC). If you need any help next time you move or archive a FAC or PR, please ping me. Regards, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:27, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, no, I can't do that anymore; I'm helping Raul with the FA process, so I need to remain neutral. Good luck with it! SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:58, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Harrow School nomination
I'm sorry to have seemed so insensitive in my criticism of your article and your hard work. I know everyone is a volunteer here and trying there best. My suggestion would be to aim for a 3000 word article. I would divide it up about 50/50 history and everything else: i.e. 1500 words to cover the school's 500 years of history. A National Geographic feature article is about 3000 words for comparison. I quickly checked a university library in Canada and found this reference that may help you: "A history of Harrow School, 1324-1991" by Christopher Tyerman. Oxford University Press, 2000. 599 pages. ISBN: 0198227965. This should be fairly easy to get as it is recent and from a major publisher. Ask at your local library, they may be able to get it by Inter-library loan from a nearby university library which from my experience costs nothing but a brief wait. The book is almost six hundred pages so there must be quite a bit to talk about. Other books in the list include one about Winston Churchill and Harrow. Seriously, this is a school with a lot to write about. I apologize again for dissing your work so far. Cheers! Wassupwestcoast (talk) 01:29, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
- Your list of books sounds good to me. You might want to keep tabs on Awadewit (talk · contribs). She is by far the master of the FA article. If you have questions about the process and the progress of your article, I'd ask her on her talk page. Good luck. Cheers! Wassupwestcoast (talk) 01:48, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Harrow
Hi, Thanks for your message. Actually I left Harrow last term, so I'm now an Old Harrovian as well, albeit a recent one. I'm no longer particularly active on Wikipedia in terms of editing, but in light of your effort I'd be very happy to help out where I can. Unfortunately the Harrow article is a prime target both for vandalism and more commonly the addition of superfluous/irrelevant information, and much of the work that needs doing involves cutting this out of the current article. [edit] License tagging for Image:Poser.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Poser.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

The "Role in The Simpsons" is still a huge mess of OR and improper sourcing, I'm still (slowly) expanding the character section, and the cultural influence and reception sections could easily be expanded. [edit] Job interview
Hi, I've had a look at your Q&A page. You are making a "common mistake" in passing up many opportunities of selling yourself. You want to make yourself stand out. Instead of viewing I offer and you want as separate issue, try to combine them. And everyone can say they are "hard working" or "learn quickly". I'm generally more impressed if an applicant throws out something like "I've proven that I'm hard working when I organized our boy scout camping trip in 2005 all by myself." "I learn quickly, for example I researched material on "direct marketing" for my social science class in only one week. (See how you'd have smuggled in "I know something about marketing"?) If it's o.k. with you I'll start a talk page to where you put the Q&A and put some things there that I would change. Please be aware that this an entirely subjective view, although I have hired quite a few people in my time and even tutored job interview classes.Lisa4edit (talk) 22:11, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
