[edit] explanation
Please tell me why the cricket page I created was deleted. It is a valid version of backyard cricket when there is only two people so why was it deleted.?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Clark Kent 6 (talk • contribs)
- There were no sources for it, and I could find no Google hits for it either. I had asked you less than an hour before not to add material about non-notable games to Wikipedia, and to add sources if you thought such games were notable. In particular, you should read WP:MADEUP.-gadfium 19:37, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] about semi-protection
Hello. I've responded to your comments at the village pump. Since you seem to be the strongest opposer to the proposal, I'd like you to continue participating in the discussion if you have a minute. And on a more personal note, I'm interested in knowing from longtime editors like yourself why you think that restricting test edits are such a bad thing. After all, there's not much complaining about MartinBot reverting massive deletions and obvious vandalism (at least, noone complains when the reverts are correct!). Cheers, Pascal.Tesson 23:33, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- thanks. Pascal.Tesson 23:58, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for correction
Thanks for fixing my error on the Tokelau page. I must have cut-and-pasted by mistake, rather than copying. -- Avenue 06:24, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] hoax not spam
Sorry :) Probably also the case with his other "article" Coolrite Refrigeration Limited. Cheers! - superβεεcat 23:27, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Coolrite does seem to have a web page, so probably is spam. I'll let someone else delete it so it isn't just me picking on him. The airline was claimed to fly passengers between most major cities in New Zealand and many international destinations. It isn't conceivable that such an airline exists that I haven't heard of.-gadfium 23:31, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cat:Geology of New Zealand
...so I make a category, populate it a bit, then go to list it on the NZ new article page - and it's already there! Quick work! :) Grutness...wha? 06:31, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- I read your post at Talk:New Zealand so I knew you were creating the category almost at the same time as you did.-gadfium 06:36, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] You are the admin who deleted...
You are the admin who deleted the original article on Kristine Huskey. It was a recent deletion.
I created a new instance.
I know you must have checked the article's history, when you deleted it, to make sure there wasn't a version that predated the copyright violation that motivated your deletion.
Would you mind checking the old article's history, and telling me who created it?
Cheers! Geo Swan 20:58, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- It was created by AUJD (talk · contribs), who was the only contributor.-gadfium 23:38, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Future New Zealand
According to Future New Zealand's website [1], the party has acquired the five hundred members required for its registration under the Electoral Act 1993. Given that an extant reference now exists, I will be amending the Gordon Copeland entry accordingly, as he is no longer an "Independent."
Is any additional documentation required to verify this eg Electoral Commission notifications, possibly on Scoop?
User Calibanu 15.25, July 15 2007
- The link you give doesn't work for me, nor does the version you added to the Gordon Copeland article. I don't know whether his party getting 500 members makes him other than an independent; he was not elected as a candidate for Future New Zealand, or as an electorate MP, but as a list MP for United Future.-gadfium 03:45, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- I've fixed the link above, and in the article.-gadfium 08:49, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Transandine Rly
Apologies for not following the correct procedure for the Transandine article, I'm still quite new to Wiki. Yes I did use some material from the old article but I have considerably expanded it. Regards 20:21, 22 July 2007 (UTC)David(Talk • Contribs)
[edit] Wellington and Wellington Region merger
if you're reading this message, it's because you're a person who has edited either of the Wellington articles. This is a courtesy note to let you know that I proposed a merger between the two pages, and we need to know your opinion. Kripto 22:25, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Benson-pope.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Benson-pope.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 09:22, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mangere Bridge - Move request
Hi Gadfium - there is a bit of a tangle regarding the names of the Mangere Bridge articles. Currently there are:
- a) Mangere Bridge, New Zealand - a disambig article
- b) Mangere Bridge - the article about the actual bridge
- c) Mangere Bridge (suburb), New Zealand - about the suburb
Could I ask you to do the following:
- Rename b) to "Mangere Bridge (bridge)"
- Rename a) to "Mangere Bridge"
- Rename c) to "Mangere Bridge, New Zealand"
This would regain normal Wikipedia naming (such as having the simplest name as the disambig, and not cluttering an article name unnecessarily with extra stuff like the current one for the suburb). It should also be uncontroversial, but due to the some names already existing, I can't do all moves myself. Thanks Ingolfson 12:01, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- Done. I haven't fixed any links to these articles since you can do this yourself.-gadfium 19:08, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks a lot. I cleaned up the rest. Ingolfson 11:37, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Benson-Pope
In addition to my above question - how about you replace the Benson-Pope image with a cropped section of this one. Matches Commons requirements, so no fair use would be needed. Not as good as the first one, obviously, but still okay when cut from the largest version. Ingolfson 12:04, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- Good find. I'm not sure what help you need from me. I suggest you upload both the original and the cropped version to commons, with full attribution to the original site and author, and also send a courtesy email to the author if their email is available. I'm not an admin on commons and don't have much experience there.-gadfium 19:08, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well, its your cup of tea, actually ;-) I just saw that you had gone to the trouble of uploading the challanged fair use image, and did a quick check, out of interest (and Flickr came through). Not really so interested in the Benson-Pope article at all, but I thought you might be, seeing the first image was yours. I may still upload the Flickr one to Commons eventually, unless you get there first - because I am currently moving about 100 of my photos from Wikipedia to Commons, and that may take a while. Ingolfson 11:36, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, I misunderstood and thought you were intending to upload the image. I've now done so, as Image:NZ Cabinet Ministers and Carol Beaumont.jpg and Image:Benson-Pope.jpg. I couldn't find an email address on Flickr for the author.-gadfium 02:39, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
