[edit] James Janderson
Hi it is cool that you are listing the lighthouses in ALaska but you need to categorize and wikify for your articles to be completed. I have set up the Category:Lighthouses in Alaska and Alaska-stub that you need to use on every entry. Please See Cape Decision James Janderson 15:09, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi do you mean Sand Island Lighthouse (Wisconsin)?. It seems very similar but yours is in Alabama? James Janderson 15:23, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
HI I have checked there are two different lighthouses one in Wisconsin on Rasberry island and the other in Mobile Bay, Alabama. Its just I remember seeing something about Rasberry island mentioned in the Alabama lighthouse article?? James Janderson 15:28, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
HI allright mate? Your categories for the Washington light houses look spot on from the few I have looked at. My only concern is your opening introductions which are very important for the article are still quite poor. You've started most of your articles with ..... lighthouse on the island. ..... 1913 built by .... etc. Imagine you are looking at the article randomly . would you at first have any idea what the article is about or indeed where it is? \you need to start each article for example with something along the lines of Sandwikipedia Lighthouse is a lighthouse on the wikipedia islands on the coast of [[[Washington]] state in the United States. Then you can say when it was built and go into its history. You also need to wikify your articles by adding [[ ]] around key words to link to other articles. ANother thing is I belive your subject matter for example Sandwikipedia Lighthouse rather than Light. It at once makes the article easier to survey. ON the whole a very positive start to wikipedia well done, just remember to go along these lines and you should be absolutely fine. Good luck editing! James Janderson 21:34, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Look what I have done to the beginning of Destruction Island Lighthouse Look at Turn Point Lighthouse. See how if you were anywhere on the planet and you randomly looked at it you would immediately undertsand its location and what it is.James Janderson 21:48, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi your articles are beginning to look much better although the history needs cleaning up and organizing a little. Its a shame the commons doesn't have pictures of them all. Kepp it up James Janderson 18:14, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi mate. just mention ALaska once in the intro and in the location box just list the location as for example Prince William Sound, Alaska rather than Prince William Sound, Alaska|Prince William Sound Alaska. This is why it is coming up in red ink in the boxes. Can I ask where you are? James Janderson 18:48, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Converting coordinates
I noticed your question on Skapur's page. If you need to convert lat and long between DMS and D, a way to do that, especially if it is already part of a geo-coord is to follow it out to topozone.com, and then change the displayed coordinates format, then cut and paste. You can also use topozone to adjust any coordinates if they are off slightly. Alternatively use the coordinates you have and just use {{coor d}} instead of {{coor dms}}. --J Clear 23:09, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
- I added essentially the same information on my talk page and also added links to an online calculator and the math behind it. --- Skapur 23:24, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] How should we handle Great Captain Island/Light?
Hi Digon3,
Thanks for creating the lighthouse articles for Connecticut. I've added some information to the Greens Ledge Light and Pecks Ledge Light articles (I had a paragraph on each on the Norwalk, Connecticut page, which I've now deleted and replaced with links to the new articles). I already had an article up for Great Captain Island which had some information about the Great Captain Island Light there as well, including pictures. I'd like your input on whether we should merge the lighthouse and island into one article (the history of one seems to be wrapped up in the history of the other) or separate out nearly all of the lighthouse information from the island article. My initial thinking is that two articles should remain and information can be added to the lighthouse article, including the pictures. Please let me know what you think, and thanks again for the article.Noroton 03:00, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] post script
Sorry, I couldn't wait. I just removed almost all the Great Captain Island Light info that I had on the island page and added it to the lighthouse page. I also added two pictures, which are a little awkward on the page. Please tell me what you think. The second picture may be overkill. (I also added a postcard picture of the lighthouse to the island page.)Noroton 03:39, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Grand Canyon
I tried to get those other people out, but I want to know if you think the job was OK. The edits are visible upon inspection, but if it works for you, tell me. Honestly, this picture is much better than 80% of FP noms, and I think either your edit or mine, whichever you think is higher quality, is good to go! Thegreenj 21:37, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'm confused. Should I second and nominate your edit for FP, or does someone else need to?

[edit] December Fog
I'll see what I can do. -Fcb981 04:49, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, here it is. I think I kept the color balance on the mountains better in this version. Good luck -Fcb981 05:10, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cape Flattery Lighthouse
You created the above article in August 2006. In it you stated that "Congress" allocated a sum of $39,000 for this and another lighthouse in 1854. I have edited the article to indicate it was the State Congress, since the sum seems too small for the US Congress, but I may be in error. Are you able to confirm which Congress is being referred to? Thanks. LessHeard vanU 20:57, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply (to my Userpage, but I moved it to my talkpage). Even in 1854 the sum seems too small, and the scope too limited at two lighthouses, for the national body. However, if your resources don't make it clear then I will revert the article. Cheers. LessHeard vanU 20:57, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Seahorse
I think that some background on where you got the seahorse would be helpful, just to have on the image page, to create a good Picture of the Day caption if it gets promoted, and to get you more supports (although, because of my personal aesthetics, I think I'm going to stick to neutral) on FPC. Did you find it on a shore? Was it in a museum? Did you buy it at a store that sells traditional chinese medicine ingredients or one that sells tourist memorabilia? Enuja 23:51, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

- I think I got it as a gift when I was 5. I have no idea where it came from, though I wish I did. --Digon3 talk 15:13, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image size/scale
Hi, you have added some great mineral images. However a recent concern has been expressed concerning scale. Could you please add some info regarding the specimen size to the image captions? It would help a lot. Thanks, Vsmith 00:59, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Do you think you could help with this please? Best regards Rhanyeia 09:50, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dendrite (crystal)
Hi, Jon. How are you? Your image of Dendrite (crystal) got quality image promotion, while mine was declined. I believe your image should go to the top of the page, while my should go down below, where your image is now, or taken of the article. I wonder what is your opinion about this. Thank you.--Mbz1 02:47, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks, Jon. It is up yo you, if you'd like to upload your version of the image. I've removed mine from the article. Regards.--Mbz1 00:58, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cape Disappointment Light
It looks like you initiated Cape Disappointment Light (as it's now called). It has this passage which doesn't seem to be in any reference:
- [The fog bell] was discontinued in 1881 and moved...
Any idea where those facts came from? I'd like to add that source to Warrior Rock Light. —EncMstr (talk) 04:12, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
