[edit] Welcome

Hello, Citizensmith, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!--Childzy (Talk|Contribs) 10:56, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:The View.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:The View.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok 17:02, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:BusterDoghouse.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:BusterDoghouse.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:05, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:TheViewLogo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:TheViewLogo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Regarding edits to The View (band)

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, Citizensmith! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule \bvids\.myspace\.com\b, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links policy for more information. If the link was to an image, please read Wikipedia's image tutorial on how to use a more appropriate method to insert the image into an article. If your link was intended to promote a site you own, are affiliated with, or will make money from inclusion in Wikipedia, please note that inserting spam into Wikipedia is against policy. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Shadowbot 21:06, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Please stop adding inappropriate links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and will be removed. Thanks. Shadowbot 21:19, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Link re-inserted - it's an important part of The Band's early history - is not a copyright vio (link is hosted by copyright owner. Link has been there for a long time as an external link but was reformatted as a cited reference. Citizensmith 21:26, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] DO NOT ACCUSE ME

I only added this info because it was already all over several messageboards. This is only one of several examples. Sweetfreek 03:37, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Did you notice my use of the word "accused"? As touchy and fickle as News Corporations policies are (especially given the already notorious activities described elsewhere in the article on MySpace) it's hard to imagine that wouldn't have already been reversed by now if it were true. Sweetfreek 22:21, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:The-View-Same-Jeans.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:The-View-Same-Jeans.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:14, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Baarskaagaard

Could you explain why their edits are vandalism? Certainly the one to The Don (song) does not appear to be vandalism although not actually needed either. Looks like a new editor needing advice unless I am missing something? Citizensmith 19:50, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

They've added information to several Calvin Harris articles which is hoax information. They claimed that a song was to be the next single when there is no information available anywhere to confirm this. The picture they added to Traffic Cops was quite clearly colabourated from calvin's other covers and the image added to the don is blurred and un-identifiable. I just thought all of this together meant the user was only intent on adding vandalism and worthless content to wikipedia. Chappy TC 19:59, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mike Magee (journalist)

You don't seem to understand the quality of the sources needed to support this article. Please read WP:V and WP:RS. In particular, you need a reliable third-party source which verifies that the journalist and the occultist are the same individual. You can't use emails, blogs, or other self-published information. All sources must be published by a reliable third-party publisher. I took out several sources which did not meet WP requirements for a biography of a living person. The Indranushnut (sp?) page is probably not acceptable either but I left it for now. GlassFET 22:30, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The View

Noticing you're having a bit of trouble controlling the old "fair use" bots (See above ^^^), i thought I'd come help you out with the old licencing tags, the first one i'm dealing with is The View EP image, just need you to tell me where you got the image first (ie, website link). Cheers --SteelersFan UK06 14:35, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, I'm going to go deal with that image just now. I may report back in a while for some other information. --SteelersFan UK06 15:19, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
I've added the appropriate templates/rationale to The View EP image. If you want you can copy these edits on to the other images used on the page as well? This saves them from being deleted. I'll handle some as well. --SteelersFan UK06 08:43, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Magee

I've deleted the target so that you can do your move; it's been afd'ed before so you may find it may be nominated for deletion again. Carlossuarez46 02:52, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

  • It was speedy requested by User:GlassFET to do a history merge with the version on your user pages, by entry of {{db-histmerge|User:Citizensmith/Mike Magee (journalist)}}, you should probably talk with him, but in the interim I'll restore it but that will preclude any history merge until it's deleted again. Carlossuarez46 18:14, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
    • Article and talk page are restored. There are difficulties in re-creating articles from cut-and-paste; I made that mistake before and got chided about it: someone needs to do a history merge of the source and the target for GFDL purposes, so that the authors whose words are cut are given credit if they are pasted, basically. You should still talk with GlassFET to get this sorted out, but in the meantime the article is restored. Carlossuarez46 18:20, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sergeant (band)

I've restored this as per your request. No hard feelings, I trust; the only citation that could be traced was very unflattering and described them as mediocre (or words to that effect). I can't protect this against other editors but if I can be of further assistance, let me know. Accounting4Taste:talk 21:50, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

I've added the cite you provided on my talk page and deleted the speedy tag, and made notes about why on the article's talk page, and I hope this will give you sufficient time to work on the article to your satisfaction. Again, if you need something further, just let me know. Accounting4Taste:talk 21:58, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Law

It had been listed for speedying by User:Lounds O'Ikes on the grounds of "absolutely no notability". (I would give you the diff but only admins could see it). I didn't see any sources in it to back up notability, so I deleted it. If you would like me to restore it and put it on AfD to settle this issue, I will. Daniel Case (talk) 22:06, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

After reviewing that user's edit history (short and dubious; he seems to have a thing for putting in badly sourced or unsourced negative info about Scottish radio personalities), I have restored the article since I don't think it was a good-faith nom. But it still needs sources, and I have tagged it appropriately. Daniel Case (talk) 22:12, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Upon further consideration and review I have blocked that user indefinitely as an apparent vandalism-only account. I am sorry for any consternation this caused. Daniel Case (talk) 22:15, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
