Be'er Ya'akov was founded in 1907 by Jewish immigrants from Dagestan and granted the status of a local council in 1949. It was named after Rabbi Ya'akov Yitzhaki, a Jewish pioneer.[3]
Despite its small size and population, Be'er Ya'akov has two hospitals: Asaf HaRofe Hospital (in the Tzrifin area), and Shmuel HaRofe Geriatric Hospital.
