Michael Grant

Michael Grant (21. ledna 1914 - 4. října 2004) byl anglický historik a numismatik, který si jako jeden z mála historiků získal opravdové uznání od vědecké a čtenářské veřejnosti. Napsal a editoval více než padesát populárně naučných knih a překladů, zabývajícíh se od římských mincí přes erupci Vesuvu až po starověké náboženství. Sám sebe popisoval jako ,,jednoho z velmi mála nezávislých badatelů na poli vědy; opravdový fenomén". Kromě odborných publikací a překladů sepsal roku 1994 autobiografii, nazvanou My First Eighty Years (Mých prvních osmdesát let; česky nevyšlo).

Michael Grant se narodil v Londýně, vystudoval antiku na Trinity College, Cambridge a poté působil jako profesor na Edinburgh University. Roku 1946 byl vyznamenán cenou OBE, roku 1958 pak cenou CBE.
