Hi, I am w:nl:gebruiker:Walter of the dutch Wikipedia. I am writing you because your are listed as ambassador of your wiki. I have something to say that I think you will find useful and possibly others of your wiki also.

You know it is not easy for the members of a local wiki to be informed about what is going on in the higher levels of the Wikimedia family. This because of the language problem and the high level of fragmentation of places where you can find information.

I am now making a weekly news letter (Wikizine) that attempts to provide the news of the Wikimedia projects. The concept is to list only a very short description of the news an give the relevant url to the subject. I want it to be short, only give the news that is important for all projects. The target audience include the ambassadors. It is for people who are interested in what it going on outside there own wiki. I emphasize on the news that is practical-technical. The information comes form several "news"-pages on several wikis, the mailinglists and IRC. There will be news I can not discover. If you have news found somewhere or from you own wiki please let my know. wikizine AT wikipedia.be

I can only create one version in something that supposed to be English. I count on the readers to inform there local wiki about the news in there own language.

Wikizine is send by use of the mailinglist Announce-l. It is only used for this. So people can subscribe without being swamped by emails like the lists.

Saludos. Este viernes 16 se inicia una nueva campaña de recolección de fondos para la fundación Wikimedia y hasta ahora no hay versión en catalán de las informaciones correspondientes, de manera que estamos solicitando ayuda para traducirlas. En la página de meta Fund drives/2005/Q4 planning/Translations hay una tabla con la versión original en inglés y las traducciones hasta ahora realizadas. Toda ayuda será como siempre apreciada. Hola, respecto al mensaje de Arturo Reina [1], comentaros un par de cosas. La embajada en la Wikipedia en español es algo muy poco práctico porque (casi) nadie lo va a leer. Os recomendaría que escribieseis los mensajes directamente en el Café. En este caso debería ir a Café (Propuestas). Da igual si lo escribís en catalán o en español, pues muy probablemente se entenderá el mensaje o alguien podrá traducirlo.

Por otro lado, también quería comentaros que ya existe un wikiproyecto en la Wikipedia en español llamado es:Wikiproyecto:Traducciones Cercanas. Creo que ese proyecto trata el asunto que proponéis. Hello all on the Catalan Viquipèdia - my name is Thor, and I am a member of the English and German Wikipedias. I have an article on the English wikipedia, about a cartoon & theater character called "Tabaluga", which, I would like to request for translation. I understand that a year or two back, Tabaluga was bought to the theater in the Catalan language, by Josep Carreras and Cris Juanico - I think it would be nice to see this article on Viquipèdia, so if anyone wants to help, please do.

[edita] Regarding image uploads to the Català Viquipèdia

I tried to upload an image to add to a page recently translated for me very kindly by one of the ambassadors, Arturo Reina. Unfortunately, I clicked on Carrega and was directed to upload the image to Wikimedia Commons. They will not accept the image, because it is a screenshot from a television station, and its not under a public domain licence (GFDL or CC-SA) - I would like the image or one similar to be present on the page Tabaluga, but I cannot find one suitable, other than the one already on the English Article. There are two options at "Eines" (toolbox): "Carrega" to upload a file to Catalan Viquipèdia, and "Carrega a Commons" to upload it to Commons. In "Carrega" it is suggested to do it in Wikicommons, but you can go here to the end of the page until "Carrega a aquesta Viquipèdia" (upload to this Wikipedia).--VRiullop (parlem-ne) 00:14, 29 gen 2006 (UTC)

Sí, se puede. En principio esta bandera entra dentro del concepto uso legítimo, y según la política de esa wikipedia ( como se señala en legítimo wikipedia:uso legítimo), no debería haber ningún problema en cargarla allí. Desconozco si sería posible cargarla en commons, porque commons ultimamente está siendo objeto de muchas discusiones al respecto. --Arturo Reina 09:38, 23 feb 2006 (UTC)

Hola. Gracias por contestar. La verdad es que la Wikipedia en castellano no admite ahora el uso de imagenes con copyright pero que se atengan al uso legítimo [3] al parecer, con lo que no se podría usar el logo que hay en esta Wikipedia quizás... He acabado haciendo yo por si acaso una bandera [4] que supongo que no se puede considerar como oficial para el artículo de la CNT [5] de la Wikipedia en castellano porque viene a ser una simple bandera rojinegra con unos letreros. Algo trivial, vamos. -- [6]

Crec que hauríem de posar un dels missatges d'entrada a la Ambaixada en esperanto. Jo encara el porto molt verd, així que si algú sap d'algun esperantista que pugui traduir el petit text d'entrada quedaria molt bé.

Hola, he creado la Plantilla:Ús de plantilla porque ignoraba que existía ya la Plantilla:Ús de la plantilla. No es encesario el realizar uan votación para borrarla, pues ya he cambiado a la correcta la plantilla para la que la trasladé, y he enlazado, para evitar que pueda repetirse el caso, las plantillas en catalán, español y gallego. Por favor, pasad el aviso a un administrador.

Por cierto, ¿podría revisar alguno las instrucciones de la plantilla autor? He usado este traductor para ello y seguro que se me habrán colado barbaridades :)

Hello. If you mean the Hymenoptera insects, you could use vespes i similars. If it's slang referring white anglo-saxon protestants, I cannot help you.

Thanks to Pasqual, and sorry not to write in Catalan. Though I can read it without much problem, I do not feel easy writing it or saying more than the usual 'survival kit' (hello, etc.). I hope to learn your language (mine are Ukrainian [as mother-tongue], English [education from grade 1 to PhD], French [I usually live in France], bokmål and Finnish [work], Qazaq and Lak'ota [by love] and a few more) seriously some day, though Spanish seems to be the only way... I am reluctant to use Spanish (and Russian and Polish as well) for some reasons I wold not detail here — that means I will have to find another way. Anyway, I really appreciate the quality of Viquipèdia and am a lover of Catalunya (above all Sagunt, Girona and Barcelona, despite the disappearance of the Barrio Chino) and its language.
