Censorship
From the Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can change
Censorship is about information. When there is freedom of expression, all information can be published. People can then see the information, or read about it. However, not all information is good for the people. It could be that some information hurts people, or makes them feel bad in some way. It could also be that the information gives a bad image of a national hero. For this reason, the government might say that it is forbidden to publish certain information.
Governments are not the only ones who censor information. Sometimes a group or a website like the Simple English Wikipedia will censor facts, articles, and pictures that they do not think should be seen. This is because "free information" is not the same as "freedom of information" or freedom of speech. When this happens pictures of some body parts and some facts about politics and life that are considered too much for people who do not yet know the whole English language are removed.
