Shawn Anderson (born February 7, 1968 in Montreal, Quebec) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played eight seasons in the National Hockey League for the Buffalo Sabres, Quebec Nordiques, Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers.

[edit] Playing career
Anderson was drafted 5th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. He bounced around the NHL and the Sabres' American Hockey League affiliate the Rochester Americans and after four seasons he was traded to the Washington Capitals for Bill Houlder on September 30, 1990. However one day later, Anderson was claimed off waivers by the Quebec Nordiques where he spent just one season. After a spell in Germany, Anderson returned to the NHL with the Washington Capitals and later the Philadelphia Flyers before playing in the International Hockey League and in Europe, returning to Germany and spending a season in Austria. Anderson played 255 regular season games, scoring 11 goals and 51 assists for 62 points, collecting 117 penalty minutes.
