The Reylands are characters featured in the television show Mortal Kombat: Conquest: Baron Reyland, the wealthy owner of a trading post in the fictional city of Zhu Zin, and his daughter Geneviere Reyland, also known as Jen Reyland.
Jen is involved in an intimate relationship with the young Shaolin monk Kung Lao, when he asks for her hand in marriage.
Her father, Baron Reyland rejects the proposal because Kung Lao is both poor and part of the Mortal Kombat tournament, which he feels is an unacceptable life for his daughter. The baron warns Kung Lao to stay away from his daughter or else he will have him killed.
Kung Lao disobeys the baron and elopes with Jen, only to be caught by the baron. Kung Lao is ordered to be put to death while Jen’s bodyguard, Siro is fired and banished for his inability to keep the two apart. Siro position is filled by Takeda, who is actually Scorpion in disguise, sent to kill Kung Lao by Shang Tsung.
Jen, with the help of Taja, a thief who was captured and put work in Baron Reyalnd’s house, rescues Kung Lao against her father’s wishes. Kung Lao and Taja escape as Jen is left behind to deal with her father. Joined by Siro, the three attempt to return and rescue Jen, but they are ambushed by the baron and his guards. Scorpion (as Takeda) intervenes and unintentionally kills Baron Reyland.
When the baron’s guards outnumber Scorpion, he takes Jen hostage. After Scorpion reveals his true form, he battles Kung Lao. Kung Lao is victorious, but not before Jen is mortally wounded by Scorpion. Before she dies, she gives Kung Lao the key to her father's trading post.
Jen and her father's only subsequent appearance is when Kung Lao is lured into an illusion created by Shang Tsung’s sorcery.
