- For the Italian saint of this name, see Syrus of Pavia. See also San Siro and San Siro (Como). There is also a genus of harvestman called Siro.
Siro is a character featured in the television show Mortal Kombat: Conquest, played by actor Daniel Bernhardt. He is a former bodyguard, possessing a strong sense of honor and discipline. He is also an incredible fighter.
Siro’s father and grandfather were both bodyguards before him. Taught how to fight at a young age, Siro and his brother, Cassar, were very competitive and often fought to see who was better, a practice encouraged by their father. Later in life, Siro becomes engaged to a beautiful woman named Hannah. When Siro discovered Hannah was having an affair with Cassar, Siro left his family for the city of Zhu Zin. There he meets Baron Reyland, owner of the city trading post. He hired Siro to become the bodyguard for his daughter, Jen.
Siro is considered by the Baron to be the toughest fighter he had ever seen. Siro took his job to protect Jen very seriously. In his line of duty, he meets Kung Lao, Jen’s lover and a capable fighter in his own right, and Taja, a thief who was caught, trying to rob them and pressed into the Baron's servitude. Siro was eventually fired and banished from the trading post by the Baron because he failed to prevent Kung Lao from seeing Jen as ordered. In his banishment, Siro encounters a beggar who is actually the thunder god Raiden in disguise. Raiden warned him that Jen was in danger. As Siro returned to the trading post and found Kung Lao and Taja, the trio is ambushed by Baron Reyland and his guards. In the melee, Takeda, the bodyguard who has replaced Siro, inadvertently kills the Baron. Takeda takes Jen hostage and reveals he is actually Scorpion, sent by Shang Tsung to kill Kung Lao. Scorpion attacks the group and is defeated, but not before he kills Jen. Siro, feeling responsible for her death, aligns himself with Kung Lao and Taja to train new heroes to protect the world from evil.
Siro was reunited with Hannah in Zhu Zin after his brother Cassar joined a dark army Scorpion was assembling for Shao Kahn. Siro, Hannah, and the others were able to convince Cassar to leave Scorpion's organization, and the two brothers fight side-by-side against the ninja, though Cassar was mortally wounded. Hannah left Zhu Zin soon afterwards, as Siro reminded her too much of her lost love.
