From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome!

Hello, Fernvale, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. [edit] Image Copyrights

I afraid Image:05OCTWISSK N4C1 img.jpg, Image:05OCTWISSK N4C2 img.jpg, Image:05OCTWISSK N4C5 img.jpg, Image:05OCTWISSK N4C6 img.jpg can't stay on the website, because they do not allow free commerical re-production. Wikipedia requires images uploaded to allow commerical reproduction. Please see Wikipedia:Image use policy for more information.

I hope you will understand the rationale, and don't get discouraged though - I think one of our fellow Wikipedian, User:Sengkang has some good photos, taken by himself, on the Sengkang district that can be inserted on Fernvale. :)

- Best regards, Mailer Diablo 00:54, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] new town mergers

I disagree. Per the discussion at Wikipedia talk:SGpedians' notice board and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Singaporean places, they should be separate articles because the new town is a urban planning entity, distinct from the geographical entity known as "Sengkang, Ang Mo Kio", etc. Furthermore, other entities located within that geographical area are distinct. Elle vécut heureuse à jamais (Be eudaimonic!) 17:26, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Also, I hope you don't mind me if I rollback the edits you made on the article talk pages - we should centralise discussion instead. Elle vécut heureuse à jamais (Be eudaimonic!) 17:31, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Agree with natalina. --Sengkang 03:36, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Lift Upgrading Programme

Welcome to wikipedia. I notice that some text in the article Lift Upgrading Programme, which you created, are obtained from HDB website. For example, sentences in the lead section are identical to those found in HDB InfoWEB: Lift Upgrading Programme. There are also some text taken from [1]. These violate copyright and the sentences need to be either rewritten or removed. In addition, I failed to understand how the image Image:Electro-highrise.jpg is relevant to the article. Please address these concerns, thanks. --Vsion 10:33, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Build To Order

Some sentences in Build To Order were taken verbatim from hdb. Again, please address these concerns. --Vsion 10:38, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: /* ... */ in edit summary

Hi, just to drop by. Please don't include the /* and */ in your edit summaries, it gives the appearance that there is a section with the same name as your edit summary text when there actually isn't. On the other hand, if the wiki software inserts the /* and */ for you in the edit summary, it's fine as it serves to denote which section you edited. Just don't add them into the edit summary yourself, please. :) If you add this in, it is not considred an edit summary. :( Thanks for your cooperation. --Terence Ong 15:30, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Find the rest of the Singapore community!

Yeap, you can find us in these pages:

Do leave your name at the notice board, and thanks again for making wikipedia your online abode! ;) --Terence Ong 15:39, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Category:Singaporean murder victims

Hello. Recently you listed the above category for deletion, however did not include your nomination at Wikipedia:Categories for deletion. Please complete your nomination so that others may begin to debate whether or not the category deletion will proceed. Thanks. -- Longhair 11:45, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please don't tag all your edits as minor

Hello, I've recently looked at your contributions and you tagged everything as minor. I believe you saved it as part of your preferences. If you wouldn't mind, could you uncheck the box in the preferences section as if you make major edits and you tag it as minor, people won't really notice them. Its best to uncheck it and tag edits as minor only when making small changes. Thanks. --Terence Ong 06:47, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ship table header

Just curious, but why are you using a header which includes text-align:left; , which requires you to manually override it by adding align="center" to every header cell?
—wwoods 20:05, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

text-align:left is for text align left instead of justify, align="center" is for picture and desc comment
Template:Infobox Ship - Another version! Fernvale 14:46, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

1: Infobox Ship header
First Col Second Col
1st item 2nd item
2: ship table header 01
First Col Second Col
1st item 2nd item
3: ship table header 01 + align="center"
First Col Second Col
1st item 2nd item
4: ship table header 02
First Col Second Col
1st item 2nd item

But by default, ordinary cells (beginning with "|") are left-aligned and header cells (beginning with "!") are centered and bolded. In my browser, tables 1, 3, and 4 look identical. Your header overrides the centering, so you have to override that in each header cell, which seems needlessly complicated. —wwoods 19:00, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ship table edits

I noticed you're spiffing up a bunch of ship data tables. Have you considered changing them to use {{Infobox Ship}} instead? --J Clear 23:44, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Windows Vienna

I've reverted all your edits where you changed Windows "Vienna" to "Windows Seven". I'm quite certain that you don't have any reliable sources to back up this change, and Verifiability is a cornerstone Wikipedia policy which you (and I, and everyone else) are expected to follow. Sorry, no, Mary Jo Foley's blog does not qualify as a reliable source... if and when we see public statements from Microsoft employees who are in a position to state that the code name for this project has changed, then that's when we can change things at Wikipedia. Until then, leave it alone... -/- Warren 06:33, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Punggol

Could you please explain how adding this link:

  • Punggol.sg - Community forum for Punggol Residents

is acceptable according to Wikipedia:External links#Links normally to be avoided? Specifically, number 10, "Links to social networking sites (such as MySpace), discussion forums or USENET."

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Turion.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Turion.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 08:36, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:CentrinoLogoV2.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:CentrinoLogoV2.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 20:29, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your edits on Odex

Do you have any reference in order to show that the image you have added is a production of Odex? As far as the discussion of concern, Initial D wasn't license under Odex. Cocoma 16:33, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:IMflash logo.png

Thanks for uploading Image:IMflash logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:07, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] MRT Accidents

Hi, I've noticed that you reverted my deletion of accidents on several Singapore MRT stations, where you noted that the information does belong to Wikipedia, and compared it to the documentary series Seconds from Disaster. Most accidents in that series feature hundreds of injuries and also include deaths from events like tornadoes, volcanoes, mechanical failure in vehicles, etc. I don't think accidents like a train failing to start or suicides are of similar magnitude to such major events. Such events are very common in train systems, and as such, not very encyclopedic. I ask of you (and all other advocates) to reconsider adding such events to the station pages.

Such information should only be added if there were extensive casualties, or was a major event in Singapore history e.g. JI bomb plot on Yishun, Bishan's notorious reputation, Clementi train collision. 리지강.wa.au talk 08:59, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Kindly refer to this List of rail accidents in the United Kingdom or discuss in Wikipedia talk:SGpedians' notice board for any conclusive comments instead. Fernvale (talk) 12:00, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
I have made a mention on the Wikipedia talk:SGpedians' notice board as seen here: Wikipedia_talk:SGpedians'_notice_board#MRT_Accidents_wiki-worthy.3F. This was written last month and so far has gathered no responses. In it, I explained that perhaps these accidents could be collected and written in one article, instead of being spread between several articles. 리지강.wa.au talk 13:26, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Windows Search/WDS

Why do you think having one single article is not necessary? Why is it necessary to duplicate what is already there in Windows Search into WDS's own article. It is quite clear it is just a port of the Windows Search platform and as such almost everything will be a duplicate. As such, it is a clear candidate of integration. If you disagree, please discuss. If you want the sectioning (per release) in the Windows Search article, it is quite possible to be done. Please do not act unilaterally, engage in discussion. I am reverting the changes pending discussion. --soum talk 17:09, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
