Gunpei Yokoi, or Gumpei Yokoi (横井 軍平 Yokoi Gunpei?) (September 10, 1941 – October 4, 1997), was a video game designer for Nintendo. He was the creator of the Game Boy and the producer of the Metroid series of video games. He was also the mentor to Shigeru Miyamoto.[needs proving]
