Yūji Tsushima

Yūji Tsushima (津島 雄二 Tsushima Yūji?, born January 24, 1930) is a Japanese politician serving in the House of Representatives in the Diet (national legislature) as a member of the Liberal Democratic Party. A native of Aomori, Aomori, he attended University of Tokyo and passed the bar exam while still in college. In 1953, he joined the Ministry of Finance, attending Syracuse University in United States as a part of the Fulbright Program while he was in the minister. Leaving the ministry in 1974, he was elected for the first time in 1976 and served as the Minister of Health in 1990 and 2000. Writer Osamu Dazai is his father-in-law.
