Utsunomiya Line
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Utsunomiya Line (宇都宮線 Utsunomiya-sen?) is the 159.9 kilometre portion of the JR East Tōhoku Main Line. It runs from Ueno Station to Kuroiso Station.
Although there is also the Tōbu Utsunomiya Line of Tōbu Railway, most references made to the "Utsunomiya Line" generally refer to JR East's line, especially in non-Tōbu environment or context. The Tōbu Utsunomiya Line is commonly just referred to as the "Tōbu Line" by residents of the neighbourhood.

[edit] Summary of service
Most Utsunomiya line trains originate at Ueno and terminate at Utsunomiya, meaning that most trips along the length of the Utsunomiya Line require at least one transfer. Roughly every second Shōnan-Shinjuku Line travelling on the Utsunomiya line terminates at Koganei instead of Utsunomiya.
