[edit] New Project
Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.
If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 04:43, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

hi there, this user 10dellis is reverting my edits and keeps writing spam and vandalism on your userpage Christopher140691 (talk) 14:42, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Treelo
I don't want to overstep, but in just the last 30-40 minutes, many of his/her reverts have been called into question. Is removal of rollback applicable at this point? At least until Treelo decides its time to discuss, maybe this will get his/her attention. SynergeticMaggot (talk) 13:34, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Fattyjwoods (Push my button) has given you a cookie! Cookies promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a cookie, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. Happy munching!
Spread the goodness of cookies by adding {{subst:Cookie}} to their talk page with a friendly message.
Hi just to make sure you’re not too hungry, I would’ve given you milk – but the cow just died and I tried to milk the bull but it kicked me in the face. *sob*. Anyway, enjoy the cookie!! Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 01:42, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Page deleted
Hi, I wanted to let you know that there is a page that has been used to attack me here User:Omero Tognon. The person who made it has been asked to discontinue the accusations by administrators. My user page also had to be protected. I appreciate the deletion of Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Libro0. I was hoping that this page Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Libro0 could also be deleted on grounds it is an attack in which the user was told to cease. Libro0 (talk) 21:31, 11 May 2008 (UTC) Thank you. Libro0 (talk) 18:15, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, sorry to bother you. It appears as though the attacker has struck again. The User:Box Benefits page has once again been tagged with my name. Would it be possible for this page and the one above to be removed? Libro0 (talk) 08:02, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

How was this patent nonsense? While admittedly I can't read cyrillic and don't have a font installed that displays this glyph, it looked like a perfectly comprehensible (if short) article, seemed consistent with both Ь and Ъ (which it linked to) and Cyrillic characters in Unicode (which links to it), and googles quite well, considering the obscure subject. —Cryptic 15:29, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Rfb participation thanks
Hello, Ultra.
I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no "Ultra-Exact" consensus to promote. Although personally disappointed, I both understand and respect their decision, especially in light of historical conservatism the project has had when selecting its bureaucrats. If you have any further suggestions or comments as to how you think I could help the project, please let me know. Once again, thank you for your both your early and strong support, and your continued advice. -- Avi (talk) 16:36, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] deletion of template talk page
Hi, Ultraexactzz. I may have goofed the request for speedy deletion of Template talk:South Dakota college football venues. Actually, that one was supposed to stay and Template talk:South Dakota College Football Venues was supposed to be deleted. Could you take a look at that? --Gwguffey (talk) 18:43, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Campus Outreach Opportunity League
You recently deleted an article that I was still in the middle of writing. Your comment stated that it looked like an advertisement. I was writing a historical record of a key national non-profit organization that existed for about 20 years. Since it no longer exists, it is definitely not an ad. I did not yet have a chance to add in references.
Here they are in case you want to check them first: http://www.learningtogive.org/papers/index.asp?bpid=181 http://www.bonner.org/about/WMeisel.htm http://www.wkkf.org/Default.aspx?tabid=97&CID=288&CatID=288&ItemID=2236&NID=96&LanguageID=0 http://servenet.org/Toolkit/Pages/OrganizationProfile/tabid/230/mygroupid/8/Default.aspx —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jsarvey (talk • contribs) 20:05, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

- Thanks, Ultra. Sorry for making more work for you. I am done moving that set, but should I need to do something similar in the future, what would be the best way to help avoid that situation? Should I blank the talk page at the same time as requesting the G7 speedy on the article/template? --Gwguffey (talk) 03:31, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA
Hi Ultraexactzz; I wanted to say thank you for supporting my request for adminship, which passed with 100 supports, 0 opposes and 1 neutral. I wanted to get round everybody individually, even though it's considered by some to be spam (which... I suppose it is! but anyway. :)). It means a lot to me that the community has placed its trust in my ability to use the extra buttons, and I only hope I can live up to its expectations. If you need anything, or notice something that bothers you, don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks again, PeterSymonds | talk 21:39, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Dr Spam (MD)
I suggest that you ask that user to verify that they are a doctor or ban them. Is there somewhere that I can complain about inappropriate usernames? Dr Spam is bad enough but the Dr Spam (MD) makes a claim of being a doctor. Worse yet, they have been disciplined for bad behavior. This brings disrepute to the medical profession.
On the other hand, I am seeking to have verification that I am a doctor so that people will know that I am not a convict or from a drug company. After I get that, then I plan to write something in Wikipedia. Doctor Wikipedian (talk) 16:45, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Lots of doctors have been disciplined for bad behaviour. The GMC employs full time staff for no other purpose. Sorry what's your point? Dr Spam (MD) (talk) 10:03, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] User:Hashmi, Usman
I have been monitoring him for a couple of days and reverting several of his unhelpful edits and issued him several warnings. How is requesting CSD for meaningless pages unhelpful? I decided to CSD them when I saw that the pages they lead to are up for CSD. If they are deleted, the redirect pages would be orphans. I deleted the warnings per the ANI discussion re leaving his page blanked. Harry the Dog WOOF 20:17, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Fair enough. My bad! I just figured that if the redirect remained the admin would be sent to the redirect page and would have to come back. But I guess that is easier than looking at the history. I have restored the warnings and will let [User:Hashmi, Usman]] delete them if he wants. Harry the Dog WOOF 20:22, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

- I'm sure Ultraexactzz has already figured out what's going on, namely that the author of the e-mail got caught canvassing and isn't happy about it. The "copyright violation" argument is bogus. Wikipedia can cite as much of the e-mail as it wants to, to demonstrate the rule violation. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 21:49, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Jack McClellan
Cool. :) Just a comment as I'm happy to wait for the AFD on this one. CSD G10 as written doesn't appear to apply only in instances where the attack is unreferenced. The sentence where referencing is raised reads as if this is simply one example of where the policy applies. That is, "This includes [but is not necessarily limited to?] a biography of a living person that is entirely negative in tone and unsourced". The main criteria, however, appears to be simply that the article "serves no purpose but to disparage their subject or some other entity". (Whether or not the only purpose of this particular page is to disparage the subject is in my view the main arguable point here.) Debate (talk) 04:41, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] House music songs
Thank you for responding. "Good Faith" is fine; I have left explanations at most of my reverts, left messages on discussion boards related to the topic and even began a dialogue with this person. If you read my talk board, he/she doesn't seem all that friendly. Also -- I thought that Wiki dealt in FACT and this addition to the list just isn't factual! In any event, I am seeing that this whole fiasco is proving to be POINTLESS and that there isn't any hope for Wiki editors. I know a celeb who wanted to edit a non-factual tidbit about herself and was quickly blocked (?). That doesn't bode well for Wiki; I just want to contribute like anyone else, but this sort of thing seems to get out of hand all the time. I should perhaps learn how to become an administrator... (Mirror Ball 16:27, 27 May 2008 (UTC))
[edit] Presumption of Guilt
"I'm discussing the matter with Mwmalone (talk · contribs) on his talk page, but I'd also ask that you try to assume good faith with regard to Mwmalone; even if his edits appear to be vandalism, some benefit of the doubt may be in order. I've also asked Mwmalone to do the same (assume good faith) with regard to your edits. I'm hoping this can be discussed without further edit warring, and I'd invite you to raise your points at talk:Hot Summer (song).
This sound like you(and Wikipedia) have already decided in Noboyo's favor and presumed my guilt in the matter. This in not fair.
"I've requested that both Mwmalone (talk · contribs) and Noboyo (talk · contribs) discuss the genre of this song here. I note that a source was provided indicating that the song was House, which Mwmalone disputes. I would strongly ask that the matter be discussed and evaluated here, and that no further reversions take place, as the article is (and was) dangerously close to an edit war. Thanks in advance,"
Noboyo hasn't really provided any good sources, other than the fact that an artist from the group in question -- Monrose -- labeled it as "house music". That is akin to Dolly Parton labeling "Jolene" as disco; just because the performed says it doesn't make it a fact. Also, Noboyo has discussed NOTHING! He/she just made the changes and went on. I've heard the Wiki administration could be this presumptive, but this is my first time experiencing this. This issue doesn't look to have an easy resolution -- especially if you've already decided in Noboyo's favor! (Mirror Ball 18:30, 27 May 2008 (UTC))

[edit] Monrose "house music" issue...
Hello again. I wanted to say that I appreciate your directing myself and the OTHER user "Dispute Resolution". However, Noboyo has NOT tried to discuss ANYTHING! I suspect that I will have to take this to the next level. Is that Arbitration? I wouldn't be so upset about it, but I HAVE left messages on the various discussion boards. Also, I created this list for the benefit of people trying to learn about the subject, and his "submission" just isn't factual. Your help is greatly appreciated. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. - Sorry, User:Flueras just started reverting all of my edits in the pure User:Bonaparte style (the one who supported Greater Romania propaganda and all related info alteration on Wikipedia). I asked her to stop and simply wait for a while, as I started writing the Moldavian-Ukrainian relations article. Instead I receive threats and true incivilities, which do not require a lengthy discussion as the one about the word "wicked" where you know very well. - Flueras - As a new user (registered today), you may not be aware of a policy we have around here called Assume Good Faith. Simply put, editors are required to assume that other editors are making a good faith effort to improve the encyclopedia. Tagging a page with an inuse template in order to expand an article is not disruptive, whereas reverting a user's edits across multiple articles and threatening them with blocks can be. If you disagree with someone, by all means - discuss it with them and come to a consensus. Just because a user has been blocked (and unblocked, as the log you posted notes) does not mean anything when they are attempting to make good faith edits, even if you disagree with those edits. Hi, Ultraexactzz. Flueras is an obvious sockpuppet of user:Bonaparte, so wasting your time in discussions with him is probably a bad idea. I have already informed our Bonaparte purge squad, but they are yet to react. I suppose I can formally ask for a checkuser, but this case is pretty obvious as it is. How many non-sock users do you know, who are aware of such things as the Digwuren ArbCom decision and the various WP policies he cites on their very first day on Wiki? He's getting more disruptive now, so a block is sorely needed to restore a semblance of order. --Illythr (talk) 18:55, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Another Russian who loves Moldova. Show your evidences. And I looked in block log of Moldopodo, where is also the link :) Flueras (talk) 18:56, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

FYI, Flueras has been blocked as a sockpuppet of the banned user Bonaparte. Khoikhoi 19:20, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
No problem. It was pretty obvious. ;-) Khoikhoi 19:23, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion of page entitled Mathew Regan
Hey ultra dude why did you delete my page?? I gave you a valid reason for keeping it and you deleted it anyway - what gives? [edit] My RfA
Hello, Ultraexactzz, and thank you for your recent participation in my RfA, which was closed per WP:NOTNOW after reaching a vote tally of 5/15/2. While I am disappointed in the outcome, I understand that it - as well as the comments left by yourself and others - was in the best interests of Wikipedia at this time. I plan to take everything that was written to heart and improve myself here on Wikipedia with a goal of perhaps accepting a nomination again in the future, should someone choose to nominate me. As a way of gathering further feedback, I have created a page in my user space for other editors to leave comments about things that they might have observed during my RfA and to continue my "education process," as it may be considered. If you would like to contribute to that page, it may be found here. Again, thank you for participating and I appreciate your comments! --InDeBiz1 (talk) 18:07, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the complement on the FAR for Mercury. It was easy to work on having such a good team to work with. :-) -- Kheider (talk) 03:38, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Cordless Drill
Thanks for terminating that lot. I had somebody moving the page while I was trying to tag and explain it so it was all over the place. Exxolon (talk) 14:13, 8 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your comment on my RFA. I feel that your "apprenticeship" comment got through to me the most. I will make sure I learn everything correctly before my next go around. :) <3 Tinkleheimer TALK!! 19:25, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Ironholds
Hiya - thanks for the comment ! I suspect he wont get adminship this time, but I wouldn't want it to be purely because of a choice of userboxes. :-) CultureDrone (talk) 20:20, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
- Besides, I wanted to make a nice uncontroversial statement that wouldn't make me too many enemies - that might be my name up there one day ! :-) CultureDrone (talk) 20:39, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Golf Club Management username change
It wasn't a "catch" on my part ... the name-watcher bot flags that "management" string automatically (as implying authority), and reported it to WP:UAA, where I dealt with it. Daniel Case (talk) 14:56, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your mature and useful comments, and for taking the time to get involved in the first place :). I'll be enacting the changes advised by supporters/opposers/fence-sitters so i'll hopefully see you in 4-6 months :). Ironholds 20:53, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

This user already received a final warning from me, not five minutes ago. See the user talk history for the multiple warnings the user has received today, that didn't always get noticed due to the user's policy of blanking their talk page. -- roleplayer 23:04, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, just wondering why you deleted the page Dave James.I really admire the man and his achievements, so I was curious as to why you don't feel he deserves a Wikipedia page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Action10 (talk • contribs) 05:32, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] My RFB
Thank you for your comments in my RFB. Since it was only at 64%, it was a shoo-in to be unsuccessful, so I withdrew. I didn't want it to run until its scheduled close time because my intent in standing for RFB was to help the bureaucrats with their workload, not give them one more RfX to close. Through the course of my RFB, I received some very valuable feedback, some of it was contradictary, but other points were well agreed upon. I have ceased my admin coaching for now to give me time to revamp my method. I don't want to give up coaching completely, but I'm going to find a different angle from which to approach it. As for my RFA Standards, I am going to do some deep intraspection. I wrote those standards six months ago and I will slowly retool them. This will take some time for me to really dig down and express what I want in an admin candidate. If, after some serious time of deep thought, I don't find anything to change in them, I'll leave them the way they are. I'm not going to change them just because of some community disagreement as to what they should be. Will I stand for RFB again in the future? I don't know. Perhaps some time down the road, when my tenure as an administrator is greater than one year, if there is a pressing need for more active bureaucrats, maybe. If there no pressing need, then maybe not. Useight (talk) 03:06, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] A note
I must have been on the page too long. I was looking for the AfD that was putting the log into a stub category, and I closed this AfD only to find that you did it about 10 minutes before hand. Just letting you know in case you noticed. I reverted myself. :) — MaggotSyn 12:30, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Your help please...
You were the closing admin for Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Michael Elliott. I'd like to determine whether this article was about the Time magazine writer. There seems to be lots of references to support a clear article about him.
- "Michael Elliot: He's having the Time of his life", The Independent, January 15, 2007. Retrieved on 2008-06-13. "Michael Elliott was not just the author of this global cover story, he also edited every edition of the world's most recognisable news magazine from Ireland in the west to Japan in the east."
- "Michael Elliott (TIME International) - Moderator", CEO Challenge 2008, 2008. Retrieved on 2008-06-13. "One of the world's leading commentators on international affairs, Elliott joined TIME as editor-at-large in 2001, after a year spent as editor-in-chief of eCountries, an internet-based news and information service on the global economy. Elliott spent 10 years at The Economist where he was political editor and Washington bureau chief, and the founding author of the Bagehot and Lexington columns, the first columns ever published in The Economist. He then spent seven years at Newsweek, and was editor of Newsweek International. He is the only person ever to have held top editorial positions at all three leading international publications."
- "Michael Elliott, TIME Asia Editor", Time magazine, Wednesday, June 2, 2004. Retrieved on 2008-06-13.
Could you pleas userify it for me at User:Geo Swan/Michael Elliott. Geo Swan (talk) 12:59, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your prompt reply.
- I linked to Michael Elliott on December 24, 2007. It is my policy to check that the links I reference actually point where I think they point. If the version from December 24, 2007 actually pointed to an attack page then I lapsed.
- I'd like to know whether I lapsed. Would you mind, either, double-checking the state of the article, as of December 24, 2007 -- or userifying the article?
-
- Thanks for your 2nd prompt reply. Well, it sounds like I definitely lapsed in checking where my references pointed last December. Good to know.
- Cheers! Geo Swan (talk) 13:30, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
