I inserted a parenthesis giving an alternative plan for the gradual change from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar. My primary sourse is Eino Timmas 1986, "Allt om tid" (in Swedish), Bokförlaget Fingraf, ISBN 91-85964-32-8, pages 157-159. According to it the plan was proposed by the mathematician and bishop Johan Bilberg and constituted a dropping of all leap days during the period 1700 to 1740. However, in violation of the plan leap days were included in 1704 and 1708. In 1712 two leap days were used in order to get back in line with the Julian Calendar. I have not checked the reliability of this information. / Per M.

[edit] February 30th, 1712

Were there any persons known to have been born on that date? Just imagine, having a birthday on Feb. 30th! If anyone can track down such data, please mention it in the article. Freederick 15:16, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
