Hi, I'm italian, so my english it can be no right, ok? well... I known that tracklist of sound asleep ep is no exactly.. give untome instrumental version, don't be... so much voices, tells that correct tracklist of sound asleep is:

1. forgive me 2. whisper 3. give unto me (that of 5 min., swerve from Evanescence EP) 4. understanding (that of 4 min.) 5. ascencion of the spirit

P.S. correct my english if it's wrong XD —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.84.157.239 (talk • contribs) 14:33, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Greeting! The track listing I have is the following:
1. Give Unto Me (Sound Asleep version)
2. Whisper (Sound Asleep version)
3. Understanding (Sound Asleep version)
4. Forgive Me
5. Understanding (Original version)
6. Ascension of the Spirit
I don't know anything about the seventh track, and haven't found it anywhere myself (despite searching for it). Strike that, my copy has the supposed seventh track of movie quotes as an integral part of "Ascension of the Spirit". Where did you find your version of the track listing? -- Huntster T@C 23:59, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

I've find this tracklist in Italin version of wikipedia. the people that have write this different tracklist, they have called a women of arkansas (she has one copy of original Evanescence EP) she follows by long time the Evanescence (musically) and she's told tracklist of original sound asleep was like I've told to you. (my God, I'm speaking bad..). in doubt, us of italian wikipedia, we've put both tracklists, ok? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Donbu (talk • contribs) 06:53, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Hmm, interesting. Well, at least it will be listed here on the talk page if we decide to use it on the article. I'm not quite willing to change it yet, as it seems to be the most widely distributed. I'll keep up my search for good sources for this article. Thanks for *your* help, and personally, I had no problem understanding you! Also, please remember to sign your Talk posts with ~~~~, so we know who you are :) Cheers. -- Huntster T@C 18:19, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tracks!

First of all, I'm new to wikipedia so I've been very frustrated and trying to get what I know out there but people kept getting rid of what i was putting up! Then i found this talk page and i was like "Oh a talk page! Cool." So anyways here is what i know- and my story...

I was lucky enough to get a Sound Asleep EP last December from a very well trustworthy seller on EBay whom knew Evanescence early on and bought a few of their Eps ( I assume buying several to sell them later on), and have many products from the band on which they've been selling lately to pay of certain bills. Anyways, a while after I had found online that a lot of sites said that the Sound asleep EP had the instrumental version of Give Unto Me and the approximately 11 minute Ascension of the spirit. Nervous I had my dad contact the couple that had sold us my EP. They guaranteed that they were original and called Brad Caviness of Big Wig who had worked with Evanescence at their beginning, and he reported that they had made the first 10 EPs with the original Give unto me and 3:16 minute Ascension of the spirit, but then decided to change the two tracks for the last 40 they made. So just to get the truth out there about the EPs i decided to come to this site and wikipedia to put out there what i know.

So if you would all tell me what I can do to edit the page to say this that would be great, and help me out bit- that would be great! Thank you! EvanescenceProf 15:05, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

I definitely understand what you are saying and would like to see it included, but the problem is verfiability. We cannot just take it on your word alone (no offense) that this is true...we need some kind of published medium to back up the statement. This is Wikipedia policy. -- Huntster T@C 15:20, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

The length of Give Unto Me on Sound Asleep EP is 1:59. It is the original version (an outtake from Evanescence EP) that is near six minutes long. 21:53, 5 September 2007 (UTC)12.214.76.88

[edit] DhammaSeeker's Verification

There is at least one ebay seller selling copies of the EP with a version of "Give Unto Me" of 5 minutes and 49 seconds and the track length of "Ascension of the Spirit" being 3 minutes and 16 seconds (without the silence and movie quotes) and unsigned by Amy Lee. This account was brought to the attention of Brad Caviness directly, and his response was:

As far as I know, ALL copies of the Sound Asleep EP were burned with same contents and sequencing, including the instrumental version of "Give Unto Me," "Ascension of The Spirit," and the lengthy silences preceding the hidden tracks. I can truthfully say I never made the statements attributed to me [by the ebay seller] and, in fact, was not in on any of the discussions regarding the contents or sequencing of the disc. My involvement in the EP was limited to some artwork I mocked up for the project (as did Adrian James) that was ultimately rejected when Ben decided to go with the unprinted discs to save money as well as add mystique, and the fulfillment of about ten "orders" for the disc that were run through me to Ben. So far as a I know, all 50 copies were identical, and all were sold within a 24 hour period. - Bradley S. Caviness, Bigwig Enterprises The Email from Bradley S. Caviness to DhammaSeeker, Mar 29, 2007 10:21 AM (GMT-6)

This is the only concrete evidence we have as to the real tracklisting. I am going to ask around the community to someone who actually bought one on the day of its release to see if I can get this information verified. Until then, I say we should keep the tracklisting as it is.—Gyakusetsu 22:46, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mention

There is also Turtles song called Sound Asleep from the album The Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands. -Yancyfry 03:04, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Okay. How does that affect this article? -- Huntster T@C 04:13, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
