The Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra is the national philharmonic orchestra of Slovenia, based in the capital Ljubljana.
On the building it states that it was founded in 1701; this actually refers to the founding of the Academiae Philharmonicorum (1701) which saw the formation of the Philharmonic Society then in 1794 but it wasn't until 1908 that is was officially confirmed with the Glasbena matica (The Music Society) on October 23 of that year.
Unfortunately it declined in the inter-war years and it wasn't until after World War II, after much concerted effort that is was re-established, opening its concert on January 13, 1948 attended by composer Marjan Kozina, who became the first administrator of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra.
