Shire of Cardwell

As at 15 March 2008 this former local government area ceased to exist, having been wholly amalgamated into the Cassowary Coast Regional Council.

Shire of Cardwell is a Local Government Area in Far North Queensland, Australia. The administrative centre of the shire is the town of Tully. Other towns in the shire include;
- Bilyana,
- Cardstone,
- Cardwell,
- Carmoo,
- Euramo,
- Feluga,
- Hull Heads,
- Jumbun,
- Kennedy,
- Murray Upper,
- Murrigal,
- Silky Oak,
- South Mission Beach,
- Tully Heads and
- Wongaling Beach.
The shire also has responsibility for some Great Barrier Reef islands, including Dunk Island, Goold Island and Hinchinbrook Island.
The shire's economy is based around agriculture, in particular sugar and bananas, and tourism. Part of the Wet Tropics of Queensland and Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Sites are located in Cardwell Shire.
