Lockyer Valley Regional Council

Lockyer Valley Regional Council is a proposed Local Government Area in the Australian state of Queensland. The Local Government Area will be created in March 2008 as a result of the report of the Local Government Reform Commission released in July 2007. The new Council, located in the Lockyer Valley region of South East Queensland, will contain the entire area of two existing Local Government Areas;
The report recommends that the new local government area should not be divided into wards and elect eight councillors and a mayor. The Lockyer Valley Regional Council will cover an area of 2,273 square kilometres (878 sq mi), contain an estimated resident population in 2006 of 31,138 and have an estimated operating budget of AUD35m.
The Regional Council will cover the towns of Forest Hill, Gatton, Glenore Grove, Grantham, Helidon, Laidley, Lockrose, Mulgowie, Murphys Creek, Plainland and Withcott.
