[edit] Content in History section

In the History section of this page at present, the following two sentences were substantively copied from the Deir al-Asad page:

  • Palestinian national poet Mahmoud Darwish was educated in the village. [also on the page for Mahmoud Darwish]
  • The village provided sanctuary to Uri Davis for a year while he was evading army service. [not noted on the page for Uri Davis]

No dates are given for either of the above, but very likely predate the 2003 formation of Shagor. While Deir al-Asad is one of the component villages comprising what is today Shagor, this content relates perhaps as "Notable Residents" (though apparently of brief stay only) and not to Shagor's history as a community. Edited accordingly. -- Deborahjay 22:03, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merged Majd al-Krum, Bi'ina and Deir al-Asad

I have merged the individual city components into the city article seeing as they were all minor stubs and could help fulfill this article. As far as I can see, I made all of the necessary adjustments in the mergers including neutralizing any POV that was in the original articles. All component articles have been redirected to the Shaghur page. --Al Ameer son (talk) 01:28, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Refugee population in Shatila

I added the info based on this BBC source[1] (Look for Abu Nisa) and this source speaks of an Umm Abid al-Qiblawi living in Shatila[2]. Are family also has friends (the Mattars) who are from Majd al-Krum but now live in Shatila - of course this is OR. Would either of the above sources suffice for the statement minus the "several" part. --Al Ameer son (talk) 22:14, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

The BBC source seems to be down at the moment, so I can't say anything about it. Anything from PalestineRemembered.com is automatically null and void for anything slightly disputed, although PR.com often takes its info from external sources, so you might want to look for/at those. If you find such a source, then I guess it's proper to include the information in the article, without any numerical estimate ('at least one family/person' doesn't equal 'several', 'few', 'many', 'most', etc.) -- Ynhockey (Talk) 16:01, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
I just read the BBC source, and Nisa doesn't seem to imply that either he or other Palestinians visit Majd al-Krum (even if there are some holy places there, not sure about that). Moreover, the narrative and Nisa's and not the BBC's. I think the text should be changed accordingly. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 20:55, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
