Rick Smith Jr. is a magician, known for his feats involving the throwing of playing cards (scaling). He currently holds the world record of throwing a card 216 feet, 4 inches at 92 miles per hour. He has been a guest on the Carson Daly show, and was featured in Las Vegas, Ripley's Believe It or Not! and Attack of the Show. He won the title of "Master of Champions" during an episode of the television show with same name broadcast by ABC on July 6, 2006. He has given performances at many schools including St. Peter's School in Canton, Ohio, Rocky Run Middle School in Chantilly, Virginia, and Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia. He was also featured in Sports Illustrated. Rick Smith Jr. was a high-school baseball pitcher where he learned the skills to throw cards, his story goes: "One day I was in the locker room, and a guy threw a sock at me. Being a magician, I always had a pack of cards on me, so I threw one and gave him the worst paper-cut of his life." This was the start of him and the rest of his life. Now he has started a business called "the Cleveland Entertainers" which you can actually hire entertainers, and he himself for events. Rick Smith Jr. is the current holder of the card throwing world record which was previously held by Ricky Jay (magician) and Jim Carrol. Rick is not the only famed card thrower, among these there are Jon Wedd, who has spent the past 13 years of his life trying to become famed for card throwing, and was even featured on an episode of "MTV unfiltered" and Jeff McBride who holds a card flicking world record which you see Rick Smith Jr. often perform.
