Rhythm & Hues Studios is an Academy Award - winning visual effects studio. It is perhaps best known for its computer generated 3D character animation. Recognized internationally as one of Hollywood's top visual effects and animation facilities, Rhythm & Hues has more than 100 feature films to its credit. The studio received the Academy Award in 1995 for Babe, (Achievement in Visual Effects) and in 2008 for The Golden Compass. It was also nominated in the same category in 2005 for its work on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. In addition to films, Rhythm & Hues is also an industry leader in the production of commercial advertising.

Rhythm & Hues Studios was established in Los Angeles, California in 1987 by six former employees of Robert Abel and Associates and it has grown to become one of the entertainment industry's leading producers of computer generated visual effects and character animation for movies and commercials through the development of their proprietary software for both photo-real and stylized character animation and visual effects. The studio has two facilities in India [1], one in Malad, a suburb of Mumbai, and one in HITEC City, which is part of the Information Technology industry in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. Along with the Los Angeles facility, all three are run as one company, using the same production pipeline and sharing work between facilities.

The studio's signature CG character animation is showcased in the movie versions of Garfield, Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties, Scooby Doo, Cats and Dogs, Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat and Alvin and the Chipmunks.
Photoreal CG animation projects include: Daredevil, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Charlotte's Web, Night at the Museum, and The Golden Compass.
On the visual effects side, recent work includes Elektra, The Chronicles of Riddick, X-Men 2, The Sum of All Fears, Elf, Superman Returns, The Kingdom (film).
Current work includes Hulk and the Abomination in The Incredible Hulk as well as work in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

Rhythm & Hues has also produced many popular animated commercial campaigns, including the Coca-Cola Polar Bears, GEICO's Gecko, the Hartford Stag, and the Target dog.

The studio received its first Academy Award for Visual Effects in 1996 for its work on Babe and its second Academy Award for Visual Effects in 2008 for The Golden Compass. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Visual Effects in 2006 for the The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. R&H also worked on Happy Feet which won the 2007 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
The studio is the recipient of three Scientific and Technical Academy Awards for the development of its proprietary film scanner (1994), the Wavefront Advanced Visualizer (1998), and the fluid dynamics software system (2008).
