[edit] KellyAna

I'm requesting a checkuser base on the WP:SSP that I opened. I think this will help the case move foward. Here's a link the the SSP case - [3] I also believe that KellyAna was using Irishlass while she was blocked several times over the last two weeks.

Thanks DJS --DJS24 (talk) 02:47, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

There's concern that this may be the user, Antigone28 (talk contribs logs block user block log checkuser), though that user is not blocked. Another sockpuppet may be Rm994 (talk contribs logs block user block log checkuser). I mention this simply for completion. My experiences with KellyAna, which may not match those of other users, has been that the user has been valuable in identifying abusive sockpuppets of long-term blocked vandals that I have taken an interest in. --Yamla (talk) 13:56, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
  • Tricky. Based on various results I think the most likely explanation is that KellyAna and IrishLass0128 are different people but that they know each other off-wiki. Antigone28 is Stale and Rm994 is Unrelated. Thatcher 03:03, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
  • Thatcher - First, thank you for looking into this situation. Second, based on my own research, there is zero overlap in edits between the two accounts, which would be consistent with someone using one computer from work, and one from home. Do the CheckUser results corroborate that kind of assumption? My main concern is with the KellyAna/IrishLass0128 connection. Thanks DJS --DJS24 (talk) 03:31, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Possible. Thatcher 06:11, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Do the pre-February 15 IrishLass edits and the post-March 19 edits on that account come from the same IP? She states that she left a job around then, but it was also right after the first SSP case was closed (plus isn't it a little weird to be so silent for over a month, then come right back without really explaining why?). It would be interesting if she was always on the same IP, given this statement and the close correspondence between IrishLass's account and work hours in US Eastern time and days (she never edits on holidays, and rarely on weekends). I will also second Yamla's experience with both users ... they/she have been eminently helpful in dealing with User:Grant Chuggle and his many socks. Daniel Case (talk) 06:19, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
In fact, IrishLass0128's IP and ISP are different before and after the break. Both in the same geographic area as KellyAna, though. Thatcher 15:02, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, based on that information, doesn't that prove the work/home account situation? Finding that they are both in the same geographic area, that shows that one of them is lying about where they live. I'm assuming that the geographic area is in Calf., seeing that they both made several edits to Calf. cities in the same area. Any other thoughts? Thanks DJS--DJS24 (talk) 15:47, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
I think NC might be better ... the possible work-account edits (IrishLass) match up well with a 9-to-5 workday in the Eastern Time Zone (mine as well), assuming the occasional days (usually Fridays) where she stayed late for some reason. The possible home account (KellyAna) is rarely up later than 1 a.m., once to almost 2; that's about as late as you can stay up and still get enough sleep on a weekday night. Also, the video she linked to to prove her innocence is described as being of an event in Charlotte. I would imagine the long lacuna through February and March does indeed correspond with a change in job. Surprised she didn't edit from a public library or something, just to make it seem less suspicious in case this happened again (but maybe she figured that would give up the game too easily if Checkuser was used. Are there any anonymous edits between those two dates from the second IP? You know, like to get the IP to show and see from WHOIS whether it would give up your location. Daniel Case (talk) 03:14, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Addendum: is IrishLass editing consistently from the same address post-March 19? A week after that, she changed her "outgoing message", as it were, to say that was working temp jobs. If that was true, we could expect the edits to come from an assortment of IPs, not the same one consistently. Daniel Case (talk) 03:30, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
  • Something else I have noticed, both KellyAna and IrishLass haven't edited on Wikipedia for days. With all the edits both accounts usually do a day, I find it hard to believe they just walked away from Wikipedia. My question is, can you tell they have started a new account? Starting a new account would be a nice, easy way to start over and forget about all this. Thanks DJS --DJS24 (talk) 04:13, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
  • FYI, over the last week I have received harassing emails from both Antigone28 and KellyAna. Based on the communication style and types of profanity and insults, it's fairly obvious that they're from the same person. If any CheckUsers would like me to forward these along so that you can examine the headers, please let me know. --Elonka 05:29, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
  • Just as a reminder - checkuser can't prove a negative, so results that are not fully conclusive do not disprove a link. It looks as though the present situation is this: They edit from the same geographic area, but identify as living on opposite coasts of the US. They have a similar editing style. One account seems linked to a third account through similar harassing e-mails. There is no editing time overlap between the accounts, and an apparently complete confluence of interests between the two. Does that about sum it up? Avruch T 17:11, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
    • Generally speaking, you should pursue the interpretation of these results and how they fit together with the rest of the SSP case on the SSP page. The technical results of the check are that KellyAna and IrishLass do not share IPs but do edit from the same geographic location. Thatcher 20:33, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Query: Over the last two days a new anon account has evidently showed up and is making a mixture of helpful and unhelpful changes to the same articles that the KellyAna account was editing: 86.0.214.108 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log). It's not leaving any edit summaries or talkpage messages, though it does seem to be deleting all warnings off of its talkpage. My intuition says that it's probably KellyAna, but I don't know if there's enough yet to file a full CheckUser report. What's usually the best way of handling these, since the anon may be being used to circumvent a block? Just make a note, and/or take a "wait and see" approach? Or just block depending on its own disruption, without worrying about making a connection? --Elonka 23:29, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

  • YES - I have noticed this as well. The start date of the IP account matches the block date of KellyAna. The IP account also seems to be editing on all the same articles KellyAna did. Most of these articles edited by the IP are KellyAna's favorites. Just some thoughts. Thanks DJS --DJS24 23:41, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
    • Unrelated Wrong continent. Not a proxy, either, according to my (primitive and limited) testing. Thatcher 01:37, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
      • Thanks for checking. I still have my concerns, especially because all edits were done during the IrishLass0128 "work hours" window, but I'll try to keep my mind open and see what develops. --Elonka 10:20, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
        • [4] Using the links at the bottom of the IP talk page, you can usually locate it and get an idea of whether or not its a proxy. Avruch T 18:53, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
  • M42380 (talk · contribs) I'd keep an eye on this account too, looks like a possible KellyAna reincarnation to me. -- Dougie WII (talk) 23:33, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Let me just state for the record here that I firmly believe these two are not the same user. I have interacted with them both a number of times in the past, but what sticks out in my head when I think about whether they could be one person is the way they seemed at various times to have different temperaments. KellyAna/CelticGreen always seemed to be the one more prone to getting angry or upset, while Irish tended to be the voice of reason, and I had a definitely higher opinion of her. Obviously they know each other but they've made no secret of that. I recall them taking different positions on a number of issues. Check out Wikipedia:Wikiquette alerts/archive31#User:Irishlass0128_2 and Wikipedia:Wikiquette alerts/archive31#User:Irishlass0128, and Talk:Las Vegas (TV series) for some of the conversations I recall that give me this viewpoint.
