I don't know that much about the script; I updated it for a new syntax for AfD pages I was implementing, and it worked then, but I haven't used it since and AfD has moved on some extent in the meantime. After seeing your comment, I feel the need to point out that I did not initiate any uncivil contact with the filer, Treasury Tag. He became very combative when I refused to cave on an issue of synthesis. My own comments (from his diffs) clearly indicate that I am not the cause for this other user's misbehavior. Your comments implied that my behavior was suspect, when in fact the other user broke (without my assistance in the least) every rule he suggested I had broken.
I just thought you should know. I know you fellows are busy, but I did my level best to succinctly point out where TT's complaints were all sound and fury, distracting from the main point. - Arcayne (^{cast a spell}) 19:54, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Well, I was mostly commenting that the dispute seemed of the sort not open to administrator action (the object of ANI) and that the best solution would be for the two of you to stay clear of each other (without drawing a conclusion as to who is responsible for the dispute itself). Sometimes establishing guilt or assigning blame isn't constructive, when the solution is likely to be the same either way (which would be the case when neither party has done anything worthy of a block or other administrative action). I do object to Arcayne suggesting that his behaviour was not "suspect". He behaved atrociously; if he thinks I did more so, perhaps, but he is certainly not blameless. I've never made a nomination like this before, so I just followed the guidelines on Wikipedia:Templates for deletion, which state:

Please consider adding [discussion notification] on relevant talk pages to inform editors of the deletion discussion. This is especially important if the TFD notice was put on the template's talk page.

I assumed that people who had edited the template or had discussed the template on its talk page would be the "relevant talk pages". Was I incorrect?

Excuse the pun on the name, suggested to me by a parapraxis in discussing him made by one of my editing adversaries who however regards him as wholly abnormal.

I just wondered whether you might check the request on the NF talk page. I looked, compared a few other leads (that for example of A.Dershowitz) and it does indeed look as though the lead is inflated. So I shifted some stuff below. But this creates an imbalance, since it leaves the lead overloaded with loss of tenure and deportation. Perhaps it should be reverted holus bolus until we sort this out. The lead was clearly longer than normal, but that isn't a big problem from my perspective. Some articles, including a number of FAs I've seen, have considerably long introductions. Its a style issue more than anything, and as you recall it took quite awhile to get the different elements of the lead hammered out. Maybe there are ways to trim the individual paragraphs to condense the text without removing much real information? At any rate, I don't think we should take drive by template tagging as serious editorial comment. Avruch^T * ^ER 15:40, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
