As the first editor of the various Rutland pages, I just wanted to say thanks for the maps! BCorr ¤ Брайен 22:01, Mar 2, 2004 (UTC)
Nice photo of the Amtrak train! Thanks! Out of curiousity, where is it that's so snowy this time of year? Moncrief 01:12, Mar 19, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Chicago
Because of your work with the WikiProject Cities I'd like you to take a look at the Chicago article if you have the time & desire. It is currently up for Peer Review (see Chicago Talk) and I would enjoy hearing your feedback to help guide the growth of this article. Jasenlee 01:10, Apr 14, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Town maps!
I noticed that you were creating town maps for Vemont towns. I recently started a personal project to create maps with dots indicating the location of towns (I just finished my home state of North Carolina and have started on Alabama, see User:Seth Ilys#The_Dot_Project). We might want to coordinate these efforts on Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities, if you're interested... -- Seth Ilys 16:59, 27 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Just a note, about your picture Image:Knitting.jpg, it has been replaced by a painting, also very nice, but maybe you wanted to know this. Ellywa 04:58, 20 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Might you please consider adding yourself to Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Cartographers - Gaz 13:39, 10 May 2004 (UTC)
I posted this over in Talk:Middlebury (town), Vermont, but I was just wondering why you changed Middlebury,_Vermont to redirect to Middlebury (town), Vermont as opposed to the other way around? All of the other Vermont towns are TownName,_Vermont. Adamfranco 14:49, 14 May 2004 (UTC)
- Adam, I've answered your question on the Talk:Middlebury (town), Vermont page. - Redjar 13:55, 15 May 2004 (UTC)
Whats wrong with adding the official apple photos?
- Llhm take a look at your talk page. I've provided links to copyright information. The images you've uploaded are copyrighted and you gave no indication that you had received permission to use the images under the GFDL or compatible license. - Redjar 12:58, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Requested pictures
Hi. I am working on your capital image requests. All cities now have a location map. I also took the liberty of changing the request on Wikipedia:Requested pictures from a table into a regular list. Happy editing -- Chris 73 Talk 08:29, Oct 23, 2004 (UTC)
- Hey Chris 73. Thanks a ton for helping out with the U.S. state capital pages. Everything looks great. - Redjar 04:17, 24 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Article Licensing
Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)
[edit] The Dot Project
I don't think I've ever mentioned this to you, but the source county images for the dot-project have all been multi-licensed by James F. and Wapcaplet into the CC-by license. I am asking all of the dot-project contributors to multi-license their dot-project images under this license as well, which just requires simple permission. Would you be agreeable to doing this? I will use the rambot to update the copyright tags in the same way that it updated the tags in the source county images. Thanks! – Ram-Man (comment) (talk)[[]] 21:31, Dec 16, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Unverified image
Thanks for uploading the image
I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use gfdl if you release it under the GFDL, or fairuse if you claim fair use, etc.) Thanks, Kbh3rd 03:48, 22 Dec 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Image recreation requests
Greetings. I just started the Wikipedia:Image recreation requests project, and I thought you might be interested. Your help would be greatly appreciated. (I got your name from the list at Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Cartographers.) Best regards, – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 03:20, Jan 30, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] GFDL
My understanding is that all works (text and images) contributed to Wikipedia by a user are automatically released under the GFDL, or into the public domain if the user prefers. You may duel-license your contributions under another license (Creative Commons) as long as you give anyone the right to use your contributions under either license (not require both). The rationale in some situations we may want to use materials under the GFDL (publishing a print version of Wikipedia) and in other situations we may want to use materials under a different license (distributing a single image). If you're still unsure, ask on IRC or the village pump. Warmest regards, Neutralitytalk 23:56, Feb 12, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright
Hello! I came across Fair Haven Vermont 20040701.jpg, and noticed it was untagged, but didn't want to presume by adding a copyright tag to it. Is it one of yours, GFDL or cc-by-2.0 or whichever? grendel|khan 20:47, 2005 Apr 21 (UTC)
[edit] Copyrighted iPhoto screenshot
I noticed you tagged an iPhoto screenshot you made as copyrighted by you. I have removed this tag beacuse you do not own the copyright to the iPhoto software (Apple does). Likewise you cannot release screenshots under I suppose you could copyright the images used in the iPhoto screenshot though... --Ctachme 22:58, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] User categorization
Greetings! Your user page hasn't been vandalized :-) --it was updated to use the new User Categorization scheme. I have categorized your User Page as a Wikipedian in Vermont (Category:Wikipedians in Vermont) since your name was listed on the Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Vermont page. [edit] Your photos
Just leaving a note of thanks for all the photos you've uploaded, especially the ones of famous people, as we rarely have copyleft images of them. I was wondering where we'd gotten the photo of Robert Pinsky and was delighted to see it was a regular contributor. Mindspillage (spill yours?) 22:24, 19 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Bougereau Gallery
You have edited the William-Adolphe Bouguereau gallery. It has been nominated for deletion, in accordance with Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. The deletion discussion is here. [edit] *Book images
I've uploaded two of your pictures from Flickr to the Commons, since they're both superior to what we presently have. They're Image:PowerBook redjar.jpg and Image:iBook redjar.jpg, maybe you want to add them to your gallery ;) -- grm_wnr Esc 20:18, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Taichung City
I am new on WikiProject Cities. I have added considerable content to the first city I am working on, which happens to be the city of my residence, Taichung City. Would you mind taking a few minutes to look it over and leave comments on how you think I can make it better to bring it up to WikiProject Cities standards in a section of the discussion page for the city’s article page that I have set up.
Thank you. Ludahai 03:40, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] This American Life
Hey. Thanks for all of your work on the This American Life list and others. I also am curious... at the end of the podcast for #333: The Center For Lessons Learned there is a girl from Baghdad who has a Myspace account they interviewed. I've read things like http://riverbendblog.blogspot.com/ ocassionally but they are all more political... I was curious to see what her writings were like. If you happen to know, otherwise, just thanks. gren グレン 09:42, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Church_st_burlington_vt.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Church_st_burlington_vt.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:11, 25 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ElinorD (talk) 00:11, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Apple address book v3.1.1.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Apple address book v3.1.1.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 20:22, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Van de graaff generator sm.jpg
Noticed that an image credited to you, Image:Van de graaff generator sm.jpg on Wikimedia Commons had a copyright tag on it. Since it wasn't uploaded by you, I thought you might like to know, in case it was used illegaly. Cheers --ChetvornoTALK 11:41, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Image:Aperture diagram.png
A tag has been placed on Image:Aperture diagram.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
