[edit] BCAD

Thanks very much for your help on this drive. May I offer a gentle reminder? You are assessing the articles accurately and well but sometimes forgetting to update the article class parameter (ie class=B or class=start) after you've done the hard work on the criteria. I do this sometimes myself so I understand how easy it is to overlook this :) All the best, and keep up the good work, --ROGER DAVIES talk 23:31, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] List of basic United States topics

I noticed you created this list. Thank you. Hopefully, it will inspire others to add lists for the other countries of the world.

I've added a bunch of stuff to the list, leapfrogging what you've done.

You're turn.  :)

The Transhumanist    18:20, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of List of basic Canada topics

I have nominated List of basic Canada topics, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of basic Canada topics. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. ukexpat (talk) 19:05, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Lists of basic topics for countries

Instead of creating these lists in article namespace where they can be sniped before they are completed, I've added them to the task section of the Lists of basic topics WikiProject. Each drafts should remain in the draft subsection of the WikiProject's space until they are complete enough to transfer to the article namespace without fear of being summarily nominated for AfD. Feel free to work on any or all of them.

In case you get to some of the redlinks before I do, there's something I need to tell you... I've created a new skeleton for making basic topic lists for countries. See Template:BLT country.

Don't let the AfD for Canada get you down. The nominator obviously wasn't familiar with the basic lists project.

No worries.

The Transhumanist    21:33, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion of "Dodge Challenger Concept"

Sorry but I have to give this to you instead of rallyinspired.

[edit] Dodge Challenger Concept

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Dodge Challenger Concept, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Dodge Challenger Concept. 66.19.205.124 (talk) 22:15, 13 March 2008 (UTC) Sorry, that was me not logged in. --Carerracarerra 22:18, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] List of basic Canada topics

I've fleshed out the subtopic structure a bit.

The list should be completed ASAP to address the concerns raised at AfD.

The more complete it is, the easier it will be for others to understand its purpose and value.

The Transhumanist    23:34, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] List of basic United States topics

There are a few sections left to complete.

Could use your help.

Thank you. Nice job. I've added some more. The Transhumanist    19:59, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wikiproject Boston Celtics April Collaboration

Yesterday, Paul Pierce which was nominated by Basketball110 was selected as April's Collaboration. The nomination is avaliable here. If you were not able to vote, we look forward to you voting in May's collaboration which will be avaliable in late April. However, as of now Boston Celtics remains March's Collaboration. Please see the to-do list for the article on it's talk page. Thanks, Newsletterbot (talk) 01:32, 14 March 2008 (UTC) The above message was an automatically delievered message from Newsletterbot. If you would not like to receive any more updates/notices please add your name here.

[edit] What was your intention?

I noticed you "commented" at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of basic Canada topics, but I couldn't tell if you were being neutral and didn't want to be counted as a vote for or against the deletion. Note that the closing admin (whoever that might be) may have the same difficulty when it comes time to close the discussion. What is your position with respect to keeping or deleting the article? Or are you staying neutral? Please clarify that in the AfD. Thank you.

The Transhumanist    22:11, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Never mind. After reviewing all the new work on the list, the nominator has withdrawn his AfD nomination.

Thank you for creating it.

[edit] News

I thought I should get it out of the way now instead of later.

I am not going to be as active if not inactive with editing on Wikipedia. I have other things now to keep me busy. Like a house, school, support my Red Sox =), and a girlfriend to keep me occupied. I have really enjoyed this time with you guys and value your friendship. I will still continue to check my talk page, so I'm not retiring. Of course, I'm still doing the fantasy baseball league. Feel free to ask me questions about this on my talk page.

Once again to make it clear, I WILL STILL CHECK MY TALK PAGE, SO IF YOU WANT TO TALK OR CHECK IN, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO LEAVE A MESSAGE.

Thank You! HPJoker Leave me a message 17:21, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

PS When are you free to do the fantasy baseball draft?

[edit] Friendly note on AWB

Just a friendly note on your use of AWB. If you take a look at Wikipedia:AWB#Rules_of_use, it says "Avoid making insignificant or inconsequential edits such as only adding or removing some white space, moving a stub tag, converting some HTML to Unicode, removing underscores from links (unless they are bad links), or something equally trivial. This is because it wastes resources and clogs up watch lists." This diff and this diff are prime examples of the types of edits that shouldn't be made with AWB. Thanks!--Fabrictramp (talk) 19:55, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK BABY! I already have a bracket. I think NC, Kansas, Memphis, and UCLA in the Final Four. UCLA topples Memphis and heads to the National Championship. KU loses again in the Final Four to old coach Roy Williams. North Carolina beats UCLA 87-83.

[edit] Redirect the page you have been creating

I have redirected Characters in the Super Smash Bros. series since you don not seem to have disscussed this on the series talk page before you began making this "uneeded" subpage, in my opion. I have made a disscussion on the series page, Talk:Super Smash Bros. (series)#Characters in the Super Smash Bros. series for this article's right to exist. I have posted why I think this article is uneeded. You can present your side and if the community reaches a consensus to making the article than continue, but until then leave as a redirect until a consesus is reached.→041744 13:42, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

I have been editing at wikipedia for 1 month and 2 days. And if I do decide for him to nominate me, would you support me? I would like your opinion ASAP.--RyRy5 talk 23:48, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, I'm asking many people this question. I'm so far deciding not to accept and I will try around the beggining of summer. Also, how did you like my new invite for the WP:SOX?
Thanks again. Also, keep up your scouting. --RyRy5 talk 00:31, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi, and welcome to the Scouting Business! The scouts here to monitor all members of the Red Sox WikiProject. We then add any information that we find to the Scouting Report on the main page. The whole scouting business is used so everyone else can see what and how the WikiProject is doing. If you scout often and if you add numerous reports to the main page, a manager will be sure to promote you.

Looking for somewhere to start or do you have nothing to do? Here are a few things you can do:

  • Monitor member's contributions using the members list at the Scouting Office, and if you find a report, add it to the Scouting Report at the main page.
  • Invite other people to join the WikiProject by adding {{WP BOSOX INVITE}} on their talk page so that you can monitor more people.

If you have any comments, suggestions, or would like to talk about the scouting business in general, feel free to leave a message on the Office's talk page or ask the founder of the scouting business on RyRy5's talk page.

[edit] AWB Bot

I saw your message on Jj's talk page. This is what I do:

  1. Open up AWB
  2. Log in with your bot account
  3. Go the the "Bots" tab.
  4. Check "Auto Save"
  5. Check "Quick Save" as well.
  6. Delay 12 seconds between edits, so 5 edits per minute.
  7. Check (if you want): Suppress "Using AWB" summary
  8. Check: Resave ("nudge") if stuck
  9. Now go to the "Make List" box.
  10. Go to "Make From"
  11. Select "Links on Page"
  12. On Links on _______ add the page of the members of the wikiproject, etc.
  13. Click "Make List"
  14. Go to "List" tab on the top.
  15. Click on: "convert to talk pages"
  16. Now go to your list, and click "Remove Duplicates"
  17. Next: remove everything in the list that isn't a user talk (articles, other userspace pages, etc.)
  18. Go to the "More" tab.
  19. In the "Append/Prepend Box" check "enabled"
  20. Check "Append" (Although it should already be)
  21. In the box put {{SUBST:<PAGENAMEHERE>}} - replacing <PAGENAMEHERE> with the page the newsletter, etc. is located in.
  22. Under that you may want to put <small>The newsletter was delivered by [[user:Stormbot|Stormbot]]
  23. Go to the "Start" tab.
  24. In the "Summary" bok put your edit summary: (i.e. Newsletter delivery of Wikiproject Boston Red Sox)
  25. Click "Start"
  26. Sit back and enjoy :)
Hope this helps. I think I got everything. - Milk's Favorite Cookie 15:03, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Bot question

Go the "More..." tab, and make sure "Enabled" is checked, and the dot is filled in next to "Append" (as well as using two newline characters). Then just type the message you want the bot to give (don't forget the section header and ~~~~). Go to the "Bots" tab, and if it is unassisted, you can click the "Auto save" tab and adjust the number of seconds to delay based on how many edits per minute you want.   jj137 (talk) 15:10, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello there! If you're receiving this message, it means that you are currently in the Participants category of The Office WikiProject. A message involving reconfirmation was included in the current newsletter, but it was a bit buried, and I wanted to make sure that everyone received notice of this so we can get as accurate of a count as we can. The WikiProject is currently trying to find how many users listed in the Participants section are active members, and if you have a spare moment later, it would be a big help if you noted your reconfirmation by simply signing your signature here. And if you're a non-member reading this, feel free to drop by and add your name to the reconfirmation category; you'll be added into the list once it's finished. Thanks, and have a great day! I just think it looks a little better -- but I wanted to ask you if it was OK to change it, since you created it. I already edited it once to remove an extra period but I didn't think that was a big deal. Let me know. Thanks! Camanda (talk) 21:07, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Just wondering

Is it possible on Wikipedia to have a picture with the links "Previous" and "Next" underneath where the links re-fresh just the picture to another one when you click and back to the previous when you click previous. If it is could you please tell me the code. It would be good for my userpage! Thanks, wwesockssign 06:17, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

I need the buttons for my guestbook as it is several images of a book. The images sre different "pages", so I need the buttons to "turn a page" and "turn back a page". But would a refresh button do the trick? It would refesh the picture to another but can't go backwards or fowards through the images. Do you have any ideas on what I can do with my buttons for my "book"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wwesocks (talkcontribs) 01:53, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] The Office (U.S. season 2)

Hey, looks great already, there are only a few things that I'd recommend. First, the image needs a source in its fair use rationale. That's one quick and easy thing that's definitely needed. As for the article itself

  • The DVD has released in Region 2, so it can be noted here.
  • There are some key places in which references are needed. These include DVD release date, and the change in time.
  • Information is needed in the production section about specific directors. Not a lot, but the line that states about the team and the freelance directors needs to be concreted by information about the "team", and the freelancers.
  • Production section also needs some info on filming location.
  • More information on reception is needed aside from just statistics. A small section on positive critic reviews, followed by another small section, on negative critical reviews, is needed to complete the section as well as maintain a NPOV.
  • When you speak of Nielsen ratings, you need to give a link, as well as a short explanation of what they are.
  • For the episode list, give a short explanation of what the table means, in reference to episode number and production number particularly.
  • A key is needed to show what the small figures beside a few of the episode titles mean.
  • References should be re-dated to the appropriate date when you entered them in the page.

Looks great other than that, and I'll can assist you later today with a few of the changes. Then we'll send it to FLC!

Happy Editing, Mastrchf91 (t/c) 15:26, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: DYK

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Sportscenter logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Sportscenter logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. NotifyBot (talk) 14:56, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] UAA report

I removed your UAA report of "Danthemanfrom3pointland" because you gave a reason that's invalid on UAA ("confusing"). Ordinarily I would suggest you talk to the user and ask them to change their name, but in this case, I just want you to rethink the situation, because "Danthemanfrom3pointland" isn't confusing or problematic in any other way.

Please take block requests seriously, and use UAA only to request blocks that are necessary under the username policy. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 19:00, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Usernames

Blocking new editors for their usernames is the bitiest thing WP does. See the instructions at the top of UAA - "No name should be reported here unless it is clearly inappropriate, in violation of the policy." - Confusing usernames are NOT in violation of the username policy, this changed on the 4th of April and is bolded in the instructions at the top of the page you were reporting names on. "For ordinary violations of the username policy, do not use this page. Instead, warn the user and ask them to change their name," - I haven't looked at diffs, but did you ever ask users to consider changing their names? "RFCN is a forum for discussing possible violations when the user has already been notified and had a chance to discuss." this is usually a better venue for discussing usernames. Anyway, with luck I'll be a tiny minority of "no" and you'll get adminship. Kind regards. Dan Beale-Cocks 23:25, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Michael_1.JPG

I have tagged Image:Michael_1.JPG as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan}} to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again. [edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Mike Nagy.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Mike Nagy.jpg.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:17, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Major Edit to List of Office Characters (US)

Hey, I'm going to be reverting your major edits of "List of characters from the Office (US)" to the version right before you started working on it. I'm not sure if your intent was to keep working on it, but you blanked a lot of information and links to the pages of in depth character pages. It seems like the new page would rehash much of the information that is located on those pages. Also, you made those edits April 19th, and it is now April 21st and no new work has seemingly been done on it from your end. I do think that what you're doing with that page is a step in the right direction, but right now the page is much better with the links to all the other characters instead of all the blank space. [edit] Speedy deletion of Image:AFDstar.png

A tag has been placed on Image:AFDstar.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Gary King (talk) 00:53, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I think I have too many projects on my wiki-plate at this moment to become a leading organizer of this. If I was organizing it, I think I would advertise a lot more (especially on Commons and one some photo-related project pages on Wikipedia) and corral a lot more people first to develop a WikiProject, and wouldn't even have a date set until the project is more mature. If you want advice on this, I can continue to offer that, but my involvement could only be limited. Thanks.--Pharos (talk) 20:00, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for taking the time to read this fourth edition of the project's newsletter. As always, thanks to anyone who made any type of edit that improved an article relating to The Office. Have a great month everybody, and happy editing!

If you would like to offer any suggestions on the creation, appearance, or any other matter of the newsletter, please message me at my talk page. I'm bound to miss something that's happened with the project, so if I miss anything, please inform me of the error.

[edit] New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 04:43, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Alright, I'll give you some examples. but first I'll give you a word of advice. I saw that you created Hurricane Alma (1996) yesterday, which, no offense, was a major stub. I gave it a massive expansion, so if you are going to create articles please make sure they have at leat as much info as Alma does now, as well as good sourcing. In the tropical cyclone project, we usually merge stubs, so just a heads up. That aside, it'd be good to have an article on Typhoon Wipha (2007). Thanks for trying to help out. We're really short on editors lately, so it'd be good to have another source of quality articles. Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 00:16, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

It's cool. Yea, depending on which basin, hurricane season isn't too far off. :) Let's just hope we don't get any storms like Nargis. Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 00:27, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Review

Hello, Stormtracker. I now have 3 DYK's. Do you mind reviewing me? Just click "Review" in my signature. Also, I'd like you to mention my edit count in my review, just to know what I should focus more on. -- RyRy5 (talkReview) 16:34, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. Well, can you check my contribs like you said you would occasionally do? I'd like your opinions on it. That, you don't have to put on the editor review.--RyRy5 (talkReview) 16:41, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, I have been doing some vandal fighting these past few days. I only revert page blanking with rollback now. The Afd nom on MLW is at 3 keep and 2 delete. And about the Sox, what happened to him? I'll check the article to see if it's there too.--RyRy5 (talkReview) 16:52, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] creating articles

I have noticed that you have created at least two new articles recently, Hurricane Alma (1996) and Hurricane Fausto (1996). Your desire to improve Wikipedia coverage of those topics by creating new articles is admirable. However, the articles have generally been longish stubs. Did you know that yo can create an article in short bits and not have to worry about incomplete articles in the mainspace? You can do that by creating a sandbox. For you, such a sandbox would be at User:Stormtracker94/Sandbox. That way, you can keep future articles in your userspace until you have finished them and made them comprehensive. When done, you can just move them to their mainspace name. That act will also empty your sandbox and (in practical terms) zero out its history, allowing you to create another article.

Thank you for your consideration. Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 22:18, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey, seeing as you haven't worked on the article significantly, I moved the Fausto article to user space - User:Stormtracker94/Hurricane Fausto (1996). There was too little content to justify keeping it for now, and since it's in user space, you don't have the pressure of any editor being able to see it. Once you fill out the sections (adding a full storm history and impact section), you can contact an administrator to move it back. I look forward to your future contributions! ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 21:39, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
No problem at all! I personally don't like seeing stub articles that don't get worked on, as the tropical cyclone project has so few. Take your time in working on it, and if you have any problems/questions, feel free to ask me. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 21:48, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Stormtracker; I wanted to say thank you for supporting my request for adminship, which passed with 100 supports, 0 opposes and 1 neutral. I wanted to get round everybody individually, even though it's considered by some to be spam (which... I suppose it is! but anyway. :)). It means a lot to me that the community has placed its trust in my ability to use the extra buttons, and I only hope I can live up to its expectations. [edit] Need help...

Hi Stormtracker, I like your new name.

I'm trying to create a non-barnstar award for a competition I'll be running at the WP:AWC in a couple months.

Starting with this:

Image:Interlingual Barnstar.pngand using the Gimp, I erased the globe and barnstar, because I wish to reuse the stand:

Image:Globe stand.png

I need to make the background transparent, but can't figure out how to do this in the Gimp.

Would you please?

[edit] Re: GA review

Hey there. I'd like to, but as you can see, the last TV show article I reviewed didn't have a good turnout, so I'd rather stay away from GANs in subjects that I don't know much about. Also, I wouldn't want you to be accused of canvaasing. I'd glady help out if you need something else, though. Happy editing, Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 15:06, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Being a GA reviewer for a while, I know that GANs in that subtopic usually go the fastest, as there is a large interest in them. Again, sorry that I can't review it, but I think you'd get a better review out of someone with knowledge of the subject. Cheers, Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 15:12, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Red Sox seasons FLC

Thanks, you did, however do most of the work. I had to copy and paste text from List of... to it because that was the main reason it failed on its last FLC, and that was the only way it would comply with GFDL. I also hope it passes. Thanks, « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie ( talk / contribs) 15:38, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Transparent background

Y Done Did it on Adobe Photoshop. If you're into graphics, i suggest it. RedThunder 11:19, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Nice. Thank you! The Transhumanist    16:15, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Cool. Better than I can do. By the way, the shadow beneath it has disappeared. Can you add that back in? The Transhumanist    22:31, 17 May 2008 (UTC) 22:29, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Done, but it did not seem to show up. That was the best shadow I could do. RedThunder 23:31, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
The shading you added was the wrong kind of shadow - it made it look flat as if it was up against a wall. But there are no walls -- it's standing on a surface, and that's all. And we shouldn't be able to see the edges of the image. Can you start over and try again? The shadow needed is the one that is underneath the stand (on the surface it is resting on):

Image:Globe stand.png

By the way, please don't replace the above image (please create a new one instead). Not a huge deal, it's just that it's part of several messages I've posted, and if the image changes, the messages no longer make any sense. Also, I may find a use for each version. Thank you.

I'm sure the Gimp can do the transparency while retaining the shadow, but I'm also sure you could make sense of that program a lot faster than me, because you are much more familiar with graphic design terminology, etc. The Gimp is free, and I've been told it is extremely powerful. You might want to take a look at it.

The Transhumanist    00:05, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

I just found some detailed instructions, and there's a video too. Making the background of a png image transparent. The Transhumanist    00:22, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

It was easier than I thought - only took several clicks in the Gimp. Here it is:

Image:Globe stand with transparent background.png

The shadow may need to be adjusted to whatever background is selected for the final version of the award, but I'm not going to worry about that just yet.

The next step is to find a decent globe. The original was ruined by a barnstar being placed on top of it. The Transhumanist    01:03, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] The Dundies

Ah, I see that somebody has a new name. Very nice, although for some reason it makes me think of a soft drink. I mean that in the best way possible, though. Anyway, that's not the reason I'm here. On the article you've posted for GA, I'd suggest that you use the infobox template style that I've used in Branch Wars, Diversity Day, and Pilot (The Office), as it gives a much cleaner look to the page, as well as helping with a few other style elements. Also, I'd suggest finding a few reviews for reception info. I added one, but it needs probably two more. Mastrchf (t/c) 02:10, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Here's what I've got so far...

Image:Blue Marble in stand.png

I don't know how it compares to Photoshop, but the Gimp is one powerful program.

The Transhumanist    06:40, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Almost done

Image:Blue Puzzle Marble in stand.png

Now all it needs is a passport.

I created this passport front cover, from scratch using the GIMP and Image:Wikipedia logo gold.png.

Image:Passport Wikipedia.png

Since we want to turn it, we need to give it pages, that is, depth, because passports have a thickness to them.

So, one thing we could do is replace the cover of an existing pic of a passport laying down with our new cover. This entails adding to the selected pic an alpha layer, clearing the white background (by selecting and clearing it - in the edit menu), and adding an additional layer for our cover. Then the size, perspective, and rotation of the new cover will need to be changed to fit over the old cover.

Image:Gov-us passport.jpg

Is this something you can do?

[edit] Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Cases/2008-03-09 List of countries by GDP per capita

What about your resolution? On 14 March you undertook a task to become a mediator for the case, but since then, i.e more than two months later, nothing happened (probably because the other party hasn't responded), while the status of case is still "open" just as you put it at the very beginning. On 14 May, i.e. exactly two months later, User:EconomistBR asked me on my talk page to speed things up. He thought that my position is more correct than the other party's, so he started a talk section on the article talk page, but thus far he has not received any responses. I recommended that he referred to you, but he told me that he preferred to wait 4 days so that if nobody responded on the article talk page then he would add back all the changes I requested. I again recommended that he referred to you, but - as you can infer from his response on my talk page - he wouldn't like to do that. So I decided to refer to you and ask for your advice: What do you recommend that we do in our case? How should we procede from here? Eliko (talk) 15:53, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

1. How is asking to be someones friend when you don't have any in real life innapropriate. 2. I do not personal attack people when they refuse to be my friend, if I did I would be doing it right now. the only reason I did that to LAX was because I was in a bad mood and did something wrong by accident and got my favorite pictures deleted for it. 3. I call threatening to block someone when they ask to be your friend worse 1000x worse than a personal attack. thats like giving someone a 100 dollar bill for no reason and them beating you up for it. you are mean.Altenhofen (talk) 20:49, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

also, I know wikipedia is not a social network. I use it to get away from the horrible cruel world out there. But what do I find on wikipedia? I find an even crueler world were people are mean to my for wanting to be friends. this place is worse than my school, and it's for kid's with behavior issues. you see, I have a disorder called Asperger syndrome. It is just like autism except, except it affects people in a way that they do not listen or behave as well as normal people, ulike autism wich affects people so they do not communicate or learn that well. My teacher Amy tells me I behave 3 times better than a normal kid with asperers, meaning I conquered it. If I had not I would probably have 1000 blocks on my block log, but I don't, that is because I handle problems very, very well for a kid with aspergers. now I hope you are happy, you, LAX, and IMatthew have completely ruined my weekend. [edit] Radio Wikipedia

  1. Yes. However it may be hard. I am trying to get some comments on Wikipedia ready for a future show, so if you could send me a 10 second sound file (.ogg, .mp3 etc.), with your comment, i'll put it in the show.
  2. I am setting up a website, so people can listen in different formats.

Send the file to connorjturnbull-at-yahoo.co.uk. Thanks. StewieGriffin! • Talk 14:54, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Firefox.PNG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Firefox.PNG.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 09:57, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject The Office Newsletter: June 2008

[edit] The Office Wikiproject Newsletter

The Office WikiProject Newsletter
Issue V - June 2008
Around the watercooler
  • The Office (U.S. season 2) failed as a Featured List Candidate on May 2.
  • The Office (U.S. TV series) was delisted as a Featured Article on May 4. User:Daniel Case is currently in working to run the article through the entire gauntlet:Peer review, Good article nomination, and once again Featured Article Candidacy. Any help with the article through the next few months approaching the season 5 premiere would be greatly appreciated.
  • Dunder Mifflin was nominated for GA-status on May 8. It is currently on-hold after a review. Please visit the article and help improve it.
  • Survivor Man was nominated for GA-status on May 18, but has not yet been reviewed.
  • Please continue to keep a look-out for anyone who has substantial experience in editing articles pertaining to The Office. If they're not already in the project, informing them about it would be a great idea.
  • The WikiProject page itself is still in need of some help. If anyone could spruce it up, that would be a great help.
From the desk of Mastrchf91

Thanks for taking the time to read this fifth edition of the project's newsletter. As always, thanks to anyone who made any type of edit that improved an article relating to The Office. The size of the edit or edits does not matter, as any help ultimately helped out that article, and thus the entire Project. As always, don't forget to check into the project main page every once and a while, where I will periodically post announcements that are related to different events. Have a great month everybody, and happy editing!

If you would like to offer any suggestions on the creation, appearance, or any other matter of the newsletter, please message me at my talk page. I'm bound to miss something that's happened with the project, so if I miss anything, please inform me of the error.

[edit] WP:HAU

Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. If you have another method, you can use that, too. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Useight (talk) 17:58, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Back to the drawing board

It appears the globe stand was from a copyrighted image.

This means we're back to square one.

We need to either find another globe stand, or come up with a new idea altogether for the "Wikipedia World Traveler" award.

I look forward to any ideas you might have.

[edit] RFCU archiving

When you archive RFCU cases, you also have to add archive tags to the case page, {{subst:Rfcua}} to the top and {{subst:Rfcub}} to the bottom. If there are previous cases on the page, move the archive message up to enclose the new checks. Thanks. Thatcher 04:48, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

  • And cases should not be moved to "completed" or "Declined" until a checkuser comments on them [2]. Thatcher 05:02, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
