Coordinates: 29°45′N 76°33′E / 29.75, 76.55 Pundri is a city and a municipal committee in Kaithal district in the Indian state of Haryana. Pundri along with Pundrak was named after the Pundir rajputs and was traditionally one of the centers of residence of the Pundir clan of rajputs.

Pundri is the headquarters of a Tehsil. It is home to two colleges, one co-ed and another for girls. The Government High School (Earlier S.D High School taken over by the government subsequently) and A.S High Scholl are the biggest and oldest schools in Pundri. Pundri during three decades from 60s to 80s was known for a healthy rivalry, between these two scholls, in terms of pass percentage of students. The rivalry was represented by the respective principals namely Mr. KC Prabhakar and Mr. MR Chopra. Presently, the generation in the age group of 45 to 80 owe their, whatever, scholastic achievements to either of these two stalwarts in the area of education.

As of 2001 India census[2], Pundri had a population of 17,022. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Pundri has an average literacy rate of 61%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 68%, and female literacy is 54%. In Pundri, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
